8-Year-Old Boy Wanted To Learn Makeup And His Mom Bought Him A Lesson
148Kviews
8-year-old boy named Ethan Wilwert wants to become a professional makeup artist. His mom, Season, supports him fully, so she gave him a makeup lesson with Emmy-nominated hair stylist and make-up artist Joey Killmeyer.
Killmeyer did one side of Ethan’s face and the boy did the other. “I don’t remember the last time I saw Ethan so happy or so confident in himself,” said Season. “Other shoppers in the store even requested that Ethan do their makeup.
“This does not define his gender identity nor his sexual preference,” the mom added. “He’s just exploring and being a kid! We as parents should be our child’s biggest cheerleader.”

I think that his parents let him be a kid, in a non-judgemental way, and it's great. Because honestly... who cares ? If he wanted to try, let him try ! The only people having a problem with that are those who can't accept that the world could go in another way than the one they decide, and at the end THEY are the one who are creating pain and suffering by judging constantly. Let people do what they want to do, and the world will be a better place. And big up for the mom, that's what parenting should be.
Are you single. A little bit in love with this comment :)
Haha, call me cynical but it's a bit sad that the thing which should be a minimum standard of decency is so rare that it becomes the main intriguing part for potential partner.

if we agree on your theory than you're saying he's a kid, kids like a lot of things that are bad for him/her so you shouldn't have a kids brain and go with " well he/she said likes it, just go with it"
Wow, if he carries his passion for makeup into adulthood he could travel the world and be in high demand, he looks to have great talent. I have no idea which side of his face was done b him or the pro :)
Sorry, but why is this an issue? Most of the most prolific and successful makeup aritists/fashion designers/hair stylests have been men. Yes some are gay and some or not, but I fail to see why that has anything to do with a kid expressing his artistic interest? Good for mom! He has a talent and perhaps a life long hobby (maybe even successful career!) He doesn't hurt anyone and will make himself and others happy with his creations. Skin is his canvas and makeup his paint

Most make up artists aren't 8 year old little boys.
Aaaa... they were all once "little" ... some grow up...good luck with that.
I salute the mom!! Supporting her child is the best thing you can do
RESPECT to Season & Ethan
Wow, if he did one side of his face he certainly learned a lot in one lesson. His application looks as professional as the pro's. I'm sure if he chooses to pursue this as a career he'll be quite accomplished.
This is fantastic! Why is it okay to send our kids to gender specific lessons, but not non-traditional ones? Bravo, Mom, and good luck kiddo! You're going to be amazing!
I love this. I just hate that an 8 y/o is a pretty "girl" than I ever was LOL. but seriously. I am happy he got to try this out. i am 57 and always hated the boys/girls thing. When i was 7 my best friend (a boy) was not allowed to play with me anymore. Macho dad put an end to it.I was totally hurt. we had been friends since we were 3so i guess i learned the stupidity of it early on. Good luck to Ethan and i hope he does fulfill his dream
I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. I hope that boy managed to grow up into a nice and decent man, despite of his parents' decisions....
yes he did,. it was the 60's. things were just so black and white then,,
Mei Yuan, I think you replied to the wrong comment...
this was the child decision, his parents are only supporting him like good parents. shame people like you exist
Ethan looks great, well done smart 'lil boy! :) And thanks for his mother (wow, I love her name!)!!
I love it... my son wanted to do the same too and I always support him and be his cheerleader.
You go for it Jacob ....what special parents
Dang, I'm a cis woman and my mom wouldn't let me wear makeup at all as a kid. She hardly ever wore any herself, but she wouldn't even let me try on her lipstick... Honestly I think I have some gender expression issues myself as a result, so good on this mom!
Before anybody starts freaking out about the amount of makeup he's wearing, the post left out the fact that it is DRAG makeup. That's the specific style he wanted to do.
I Live on South Beach. You need to come here and see what "drag" makeup really is. You're sheltered
He is a 8 year old little boy !! of course he is sheltered he should be...
Drag makeup? Have you seen VOGUE lately?

Thanks for that, I don't have a problem with this kid trying make-up, my concearn was it was TOO MUCH make-up, but with your comment I got it. Thanks again and have a nice day and weekend :)
hey, why not? where is the problem? learning things is never a mistake!
Super fish ? Put the Bong away time for bed
I think he's got a great talent and should explore it! I can't tell which half the makeup artist did and which half Nathan did! This is a great example of do what you love and you'll be happy! Maybe even win an Emmy or an Oscar!
Thumbs up for his parents! I wish all parents were that tolerate and kind-hearted.
SLAAAAAAY
He looks fierce! You go kiddo <3
That's everything nice, but should be all of this child "exploration" and "just being kid" on the internet? I definitely wouldn't be ok with internet full od photos of every wierd stuff I did as a child. Specially when there is a controversy in it. I am strongly against sharing photos of kids like this, they can't tell if it's good for them in the future, they don't know they can't delete things like that once their parents posted.
His mother uploading pictures of her son wearing make-up, in a make-up lesson he got on his face by a professional artist. This picture isn't controversial, people make it look like that. I could agree they shouldn't post him doing something harmful for him or anyone or anything else, or maybe in a way that violated his privacy by him not knowing or not liking it. So since he wanted to do that lesson, it was nothing harmful, he learned from it and liked the whole thing, even posed for pictures, how exactly is this not good for him in the future? The only way this would be bad for him in the future would be if he found himself in a society where freedom of will and expression is forbidden.
I think he's gorgeous and did a great job, I certainly can't tell which side he did and which side the professional did!
I honestly thought that the artist did both sides of his face. Great job young human!
I'm sorry, but I don't agree with this. No child should be better at applying make up than me lol! I've been doing it for nearly 20 years and he wipes the floor with me! I wish more parents were as open minded as Season.
Matt Noel you are a moron how do you think this kid will be treated when he's 12 and playing sports with other boys you naive muppet
Cool! This guy's awesome and he's a... Boy? What difference does it make. Good job mom for not giving in to stereotypes and societal stigma/roles.
There's a guy on Instagram he should check out... Argena Peede
Frickin' future rockstar, right there.
in the last pic without make-up he looks younger. that really is aweird thing about make-up... but tge boy has done a great job coz both sides of his face look very pro! thumbs up!
That second photo makes me uneasy somehow... Still kid can do better makeup than me, so cheers for that!
Why dose it make you uneasy? What's wrong with it?
I mean the second one- the "selfie" one, where he's leaning on the man... It just looks too sass and the atmosphere is different from what I link with the age 8... Don't know if I expressed myself right, english is not my native language >.,<
it almost looks like they shamed him in the second one and it makes him look sad.. but the mother said she supported him so who knows...
That is what I was thinking also. Like they shamed him in the second one.. but the mother said she supported him so who knows...
Is that the one where he is looking down? Could it be that he is showing the eyeshadow by lowering his lids.....
Oh yea I see it now
Why not make him up Johnny Depp style too, why automatically give him just a lesson in female makeup? That's also gender specific...
Stage make up probably wasn't what he was interested in. And isn't making him into a pirate or the Mad Hatter gender specific, too? Why do you care? Why would you worry about this boy, who clearly has very good parents and is loving his life? Why try to make it to something sinister or frown at it.
RESPECT Marika
I'm not frowning at it, I'm just saying he should be given the chance to try both. What exactly is your problem with my comment?
The Mom said that this is the kind of makeup that he requested ( drag ). But I agree let him explore many styles colors and technic ect...Maybe he will be a professional in Paris Fashion week designing the models faces. There are contest already that pay big bucks for an artist like this little boy ...
Surely making up as Male pirate is gender specific - I prefer my make up artist male or female to ensure that I don't look anything like a damn pirate - yoy twat - most of his Clients will be female - good grief what an asinine take on things
Makeup has no gender.
Gayyyy
No wonder he's messed up, having a mom named Season!
No wonder he's messed up having a mom named Season!
I had to tell you myself you are awesome and will be awesome, just have fun with what you do in life
Omg, he looks beautiful ❤
Omg poor kid..this is horrible to do something like this to a KID..especially a boy smh...I'm sorry but this just bringing confusion about his sexual orientation just think about it geez trying to feminise a boy is totally wrong at such a young age let the kid be a BE A KID
All kids have a creative side & we should let them express it
Awesome!!..👍👍👍 you got the best mum!!!!!.... you look great ... hope you enjoyed every minute!!!❤️❤️❤️
👍👍👍👍.... awesome .... you the mum!!👍👍😘😘😘
I think it's ok for him to experiment , and well done to his mum, I mean year ago men wore makeup and powdered wigs but they werent all gay and if they were there's nothing wrong in that ,and this little boy just has an interest in make up and it might be a passing phase, he's only 8 and he's having fun xx
Ethan do what makes you happy go for what ever. And mom good for supporting whatever he wants you all are beautiful. Don't let people judge you Be happy
The second pic is giving me so much life rn! Praise Jeffree Star!
Slaaaay!
What a really good mom!!!
What a prick you are
He is just a little boy let him try new things it does not define who he is just for trying on make up. Let him have some fun.
Really talented kid!!! Really puts my artwork/ability to shame lol keep up the work kid and please keep him going with art!!! I stopped for three months of drawing.. worst mistake ever xP
What a cool mom!!
My first thought was what amazing eyes he has .
He did one side himself?! Wow! Clearly he's talented :) And a cutie!
Why would anyone question it in the first place.
This kid definitely was born for this... thus he's got such beeeeautiful big eyes!
Parenting doing it right!
Keep it up!
It is and don't tell me I'm wrong!!!!
I wish I had parents like that.
Love the parents. Thank you for helping your kid do what he loves in life.
When I was 8 I would have loved to do alot of stupid things.
More parents should be open to allowing their children to explore whatever it is that makes them happy. As long as it's not hurting the child, then why not let them try things? Gender roles should be loosened up, girls wear jeans, t-shirts, etc, which is considered traditionally to be what males wear. What's wrong with boys wearing girls clothes? Makeup? Whatever makes them feel good about themselves, is great!
I think it's fantastic!
Ethan I am so sorry auto correct got the better of me
Ethanol - you are clearly talented. Season - what an awesome mother giving your child the opportunity to explore his dream. RESPECT to you as a mum & to Ethan's talent
There seems to be another comment posted here under your name that is completely opposite to this one.
He Deffo Kills it,,,,, looking good.....
Brace yourselves! The Devils advocates are coming!!!!!
I need him to do my makeup and hair!
Very good parenting!
think that he has great parents!
This is wonderful! Why should it be anything else than fun? and he is good at it by the looks of it, a real killer <3 go for it little guy, you can do it!
I think this little artist have found his calling in life already, which takes most people a lifetime to find... I am sure he will be a famous artist or a makeup of the stars and that he is destine for greatness in his future. With a little encouragement ... Get him some paints and canvas and see what he can do with that. Encourage him to use his talents in more ways than one ....

LOVE
He is prettier than me! XD LOL
Fantastic parenting! Not placing judgment on his creative talents! And there's BIG money in makeup!
AS long as the mum doesn't have a problem with the fact that it MIGHT have something to do with other parts of him; and that it MIGHT be something he's planning for the future.
The blue eyeshadow is kind of uncomplimentary to the purple lips. Smh.
Forgive me, it's coral blue number-BONK!
I could tell you to go kill yourself, that's me speaking my thoughts, that's also me being a douchebag. I don't understand what your fucking deal with people being transgender is. It's completely fine.

Wait a fucking second, I saw you on the fucking transboy post, you were being a douche.
By speaking my thoughts? How uncouth of me!
Wow, and this is because somebody said that the blue doesn't match the purple.
Maybe I am an asshole cuz we don't see eye to eye. I don't agree with you, but I don't hate you for what you are and what you believe.
You can move wherever you want, but that still doesn't make it right. I'm sorry that you can't deal with the sick truth of this situation.
No, anya, I met this homophobic transphobic Asshole on a different post.
He looks like a young Boy George! Awesome
dusman-5.gif
why the make up have to be on the kid? why he dint did it on the mom?
good point
Forget the makeup and gender issues, my 8 year old is not posing seductively with a grown man whether they are male or female. But, that's just me I guess.
Wrong on many levels ....
Shut up you thick retard
Totally, but then again, how can our modern sick saociety comprehend this? if they`ve been brainwashed for decades by the leftist liberal marxist agenda? Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Oh my Super fish leftist liberal Marxists? ??? Are you serious or just seriously uneducated, ignorant, stupid & an oxygen thief. Liberal left wing Marxists - how long did it take you to Google that you twat
Go fuck yourself.
Fuck you
Oh no. He might be mildly embarrassed.
What an intelligent person you are using disgusting language on a post about a child wearing makeup ? Have a word with yourself
strange attitudes on here ? I am not in anyway homophobic but he is 8 ! Let's see how happy he is with that image when at senior school ?
Oh my fucking God, I just fucking swore, and on a post of a child wearing makeup? I am so sorry for being so fucking disgusting, I am truly a fucking cunt using shitty fucking language. I am a complete fucking idiot and am so motherfucking sorry for my fucking douchebag asshole behavior.
Honestly I don't know what to think about it. From the one side it's cool that his mom let him try to do this and explore himself in that way (in future he can be for example a stylist), but from the another side it's just creepy for me. And if I had a son and he would like to have fun with cosmetics, I would just let him make makeup on my face.
A makeup artist best canvas is their own face. Always has been.
How can you do somebody else's face when you can't do your own?
I love nothing more than gender fluidy and its lack of constraints.! Every child should be free and open to explore without fear of judgement... always.! However I have a problem with any 8 year old wearing a faceful of make up (be it male or female) let them be children already. I guess this article would of been a whole different story if this was a little girl...
NO eight yeard old should be wearing makeup. regardless of gender

Fuck you superfish.
Go fucking educated yourself, Asshole.
Yawn... Can't you write something of your own?
And this is why I'm an atheist. Ridiculous things that people state are bad because the Bible says so. It's ridiculous how you can't just let this child have some fun and do what he wants to.
Superfine - engage your brain - take a look at the year we live in & either get along or quite frankly jump off a bridge - you are ignorant, stupid, uneducated, a waste of oxygen & less than worthy.
Are you serious? If a little girl did her make up like that, there would be outrage about over sexualization of young girls. Congrats, your 8 year old boy looks like a sexy woman. Your son looks like Christy Mack.
I can't even think of a response to this. You've finally done it. You're the stupidest person here.
I agree 100%! Oh your boy wanted to learn drag...ok...well know you are drag!
Oh my...
he looks like a 30 year old woman...I know that he wanted to learn but why did you age him that much?
I read several coments before decide write something here. I can't understand so many people without the real comprehension about that post. It's not about prejudice, but it's about a child that can't decide his sexuality in so much early time. If he wants being a homosexual in the future, ok! no problem. it will be an adult decision, but now his mother should teach him about what he really is... a boy. Maybe someone will say I am a homophobic, but I am not. I just think that here the most coments seems to blind an obvious thing: He is a child, he is a boy and he must be educated and oriented in order to be a man. In the future he will decide his own destiny, not now.
I'm sorry, but do you really think homosexuality is a choice? Wow...

Make up has nothing to do with sexuality. And you don't "decide" your sexuality, you can't choose which gender your attracted to. You may not be homophobic, but you are ignorant. Learn more about different sexualities before writing such rubbish in future, you embarrass yourself.
Disgusting little creature
Homophobic.
And then you wonder why these kids grow up not knowing if they're boys or girls! Why put the makeup on him? Why not teach him to put it on GIRLS, who are the ones supposed to wear makeup? Or, if you must put makeup on a boy, why not make him still look masculine to some extent, instead of looking completely like a girl? This nothing more than social experimentation on the part of these parents. It's child abuse.
It's the other way round: If you tell him that only girls are allowed to wear makeup he would wish he was a girl since he wants to wear makeup. Thanks to his mom he learns that gender doesn't matter. Transgenders usually had a bad childhood. PS: From my view he still looks like a boy.
The child WANTED to learn how to do it, and he wanted to learn how to do drag
That boy doesn't need to even know what the hell drag is.
Wow!!!! Someone is strait out of 1940...
Gay!
So what?
Ally - if he were Gay - that makes a difference - why? ?? Because you are stupid perchance?
Uneducated biggot!
Totally..but not his fault, it`s his perverted libtard parents the ones at fault here :(
Super fish you have been go ogling again - library patents - waaahaha - you know the Marxist threat is a thing of the past or are you slow as well as stupid
You know, logic doesn't work with you conservative Assholes, so, go fuck yourself.
Sodom and Gomorrah all over again... poor world :(
Oh for your gods sake super fish take your bible & shove it up your rear end. An 8 year old wanting to tackle a creative career as opposed to beating someone else up playing sport? - are you for real? ?? The God I know - does not judge
It's Assholes like you, Kate favor, that are what make me want to move to somewhere more accepting, like Canada.
Why don't you climb off the top of BS mountain? I hear there's not a lot of oxygen up there. Your brain needs oxygen, you know.
It would help if the media didn't glorify immoral activities. They shine the light of praise on the corrupt and convince people it's right.
Poor you for being a homophobic piece of shit
I don't give a shit, go fuck yourself, im fucking bi, and have homophobic parents so I have to deal with enough of that shit.
Not homophobic sir, just obedient to the Lord of Abraham... love the sinner, hate the sin. You sir are totally confused, as Isaiah 5: 20 clearly says: Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

This kind of thinking by his parents is exactly whats wrong with this world, letting everyone do what they feel like. If someone feels that he/she wants to do something it doesnt automatically give them right to do so. No boundaries or quality supervision. Thats why most of todays kids are spoiled brats. Im ok with kids playing with stuff, even boys trying makeup, but this isnt playing, he did not try makup on his mom or some other girl, instead he turned himself into drag queen. And that second pose isnt childish, but full on b*tch pose that every other girl on facebook has to attract guys for sex! Letting their son "play" like this DOES INDEED define his sexuality! Too young to soon! Im not gonna suck up to everyone with liberal comments hunting for likes. Sorry but i am not ok with this!
Would you be here complaining about his mother allowing her son to "do what he feels like", if he had expressed an interest in soccer? What about if she signed him up for football after he'd shown talent in that area? Your point makes no sense. I'm sure one makeup lesson at MAC cost less than hockey equipment. This seems like blanketed bigotry to me.
Soccer is a sport. Makeup has a strong sexual component that soccer doesn't have. There is a huge difference!
I don't see your problem unless he spams such pictures on facebook. It's a good lection to try sth. that is usually done from older people. Sexuality is determined at birth, it cannot defined by makeup.
Oh my
It's okay to be gay motherfucker
No thanks, I have my own fucking religion.
No, it`s not ok to be gay, you`re living in sin and in a way contrary to God`s will, He did not create you to pervert and defile your body, he created you to glorify His Holy name, and by being gay and refusing to admit it`s against God`s will, you are on a path of certain death. Repent now and come to Yeshua, it`s not too late.
You have no reason to be okay with it. It's wrong on so many levels.
I totally agree. I just put his photo on the site https://howhot.io/, and the algorithm says that it's a 22 year old woman face! I think it could be a bit controversy, because there are not only normal people on the internet, but pedophiles too... It is quite reckless to put that kind of photos in the internet. And because we want something it doesn't mean it's good for us and we should do it. Sometimes it's not. Especially when we are children. People nowadays are too much exhibitionist imo.

What a charming, all loving comment!
It's a shame no one ever told you about the "judge not lest ye be judged" thing.
Shut up bully !!
My sincere prayer is that unless your god can save your soul - that you are burned in hell before you say another word. You incredibly ignorant and sick person
Where in the Bible does it say that you have any right to judge others? I was taught that only GOD has that right.

Teaching them to be queer since childhood... NICE! America is swiftly becoming just like Sodom and Gomorrah.
Fuck you.
Another lovely comment by you!
You display so much reason. When your opinion is being challenged you go ahead and call people motherf*ckers. Logic level: 0
You're right. Believing in a magical Skyman is very illogical. That's why I don't.
You just seem really bent out of shape. Remind me not to ruffle your feathers again. You were loaded for bear when you came on here, sheesh!
Stfu Kate no one gives a shit.
Proverbs 17:15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.
Define logic. I think you'll find that worshipping a magical sky man because a book told you to is a little bit illogical.

Breeding gays
Although I agree that a little boy wearing makeup is a little obscure, I don't think it has anything to do with sexuality.
John Njenga that comment is only a testiment to you low education. it has been scientificaly proven that a persons sexual preferance is determined on a biological level. next thing you will try and argue that you were born a white person and became black because you grew up with black people...
VG, High Heels were invented to stay in the saddle better while fighting. That's why it was for men.
I will say it is wrong to put makeup for girls on boys. Gives them the wrong ideas at too young an age.
Make-up in itself is all about sexuality. Lipstick was invented to imitate the look of a "fully erect" vulva. That's why it was for women.

Shut up negro
You don't breed gays Honey. if he is gay then he was born that way. I know make up artists and hair stylists that are straight. If it's a passion then sexuality has nothing to do with it.
What's that got to do with the price of fish?

if we agree on your theory than you're saying he's a kid, kids like a lot of things that are bad for him/her so you shouldn't have a kids brain and go with " well he/she said likes it, just go with it"
Wow, if he carries his passion for makeup into adulthood he could travel the world and be in high demand, he looks to have great talent.

Smh.
