Sure, our society has tremendously evolved for the better during the last, say, 100 years, but a long journey is still ahead, and the vast array of double standards that still divide people to this day highlight this perfectly.
The double standard definition states that it is a rule or a principle applied to different people or groups. The most prominent case of double standard examples to this day come from gender equality. What's usually okay for men, is not acceptable when done by women. Starting with beach attire and ending with lady bosses, society finds unnecessary ways to chime in about what's wrong and what's right.

That is always the case, isn't it? I am glad someone here has mentioned that sad fact. Men are just as responsible as women for every pregnancy, yet they assume less than 1% of the responsibility for birth control. One thing that really chaps my hide is men complaining about abortions when they themselves have had unprotected sex with women. I personally would not have an abortion but I would never knock someone for that being their choice. I think people should really learn to mind their own business and stop thinking they have the right to dictate what others do.
I don't like abortion, but it at times is a necessary evil. I like it even less when the same people who are against abortion are against taking care of mothers as a society (or anyone who needs supporting). I honestly don't think you can be Christian (most conservative pro-lifers are) and be against taking care of your fellow man and woman.
I find it nothing short of amazing that so many people complain so bitterly about their taxes funding things like women's health care, including abortion, child care, nutrition assistance, education grants and welfare, but not a word about the 60+% of the entire bulk of our taxes being skimmed right off the top to fund the military invasion and occupation of other countries and the murder of their people.

I want to take this opportunity to bring up the topic of body anonymity. What will happen to your body when you die? Will you be buried, cremated, planted with a seed to nourish a tree? How about you donate your body to science? It could be used to save possibly countless lives! Why doesn't everyone donate their body? In fact, it should be mandatory, shouldn't it? It might save lives, and it would totally save tons of space vs burning you. But are you going to go out right now and sign your body over to a university? Probably not. You'll probably opt for a regular ceremony and burial in a fancy cemetery somewhere where your relatives will toss some flowers on your headstone once every blue moon. If we can't force someone to donate their body to science, we can't force them to carry a baby they don't want. It's the same principle. You save lives but give up your body, or you keep your body and let someone else make that contribution. It should be up to you, shouldn't it?

I'm a young single mom and I have to deal with a lot of judgements from others. Our society is so wrong that I keep thinking.. oh they must think this of this about me. I always feel like I have to prove and explain and it's real bad for my confidence as a Mother. I worry enough without the standards and judgements from others. They don't know why I'm a single mother or how tough it can get. I work and in september I'm going to start a HBO study. I want to give my son a bright future and I do everything for a smile on his face. I do believe there needs to be done more to stop women from getting unwanted pregnant but it will always be a problem. So it's good that there is the opportunity to get an abortion. Sometimes it's the best thing to do, but it can be very traumatic for a women. A child needs his both parents, but not when it would grow up in a toxic environment. For us it's better like this, now I can be the best, loving and stable mom that he need.
Sometimes, it's better to split. If you don't feel good in the relationship, your child will certainly not, and it will be better to have a single good, stable and functional parent that can care, than two halfwits fighting each other, often causing trauma and instability for the kid. Just like you, get it over and done with. Better things will come. People are b****y by nature as they always knows your situation better than you do, and stick their noses where they don't belong. Good luck to you and your son, and give the knowbetters your two-finger salute. Trust me, sometimes, some "friends" are not really that much of friends, and you are better off without them. I don't think being raised in a single parent household impacts a child's development. I'm being raised by my dad just fine and I don't have any developmental problems I've been accepted into a technical school thanks to being raised by my dad since he pushed me to do me best and encouraging me while my ma said I shouldn't try. Being raised by a single parent is just fine as long as they don't abuse you.
Yes mabye you're pro life for the baby, but take a pregnant women who was raped, you're taking away her life by forcing her to have this child and throwing away her future by making her raise a child she had no choice but to give birth to. I say pro life for the women, the rapists should be punished here, not the women.

I don't think it's anyone's business what a woman chooses to do for her own body. Just because you believe a fetus is a human with rights doesn't give you the right to try and force your belief on others. A woman choosing to have an abortion, regardless of your beliefs, has no impact on your life. If I chose to have an abortion tomorrow and never told anyone, whose life would be impacted (for the sake of this statement, pretend the father supports whatever decision the woman makes... or maybe he has no clue she's pregnant and never plans on knowing and would definitely be for abortion if he did know).

It's not about "blaming" anyone. It's about recognizing that the unborn baby is a separate whole being with a right to life.
As a Christian (not all Christians think like this) I think that abortion should be legal until the heart beat, unless the mother has a reason to not have the baby. If you don’t know by 6 weeks that’s not ideal and you should always be sure if there’s a possibility that you’re pregnant. Rape, incest, fatal deformities, dangers to the mother, etc, they all are valid reasons to have an abortion. Of course it’s still the mothers choice, not the fathers because the mother has to carry it and give birth. Everyone has their opinions, please don’t hate on others for theirs people!

It's not a tiny human, but a fetus. It can't even be considered sentient until about 24 weeks along, and even then not as sentient as a common dog or cat. We were playing around, play fighting when I kicked my husband in the balls. It wasn't on purpose and I instantly felt horrible as he spent about 5 minutes in pain on the floor. The worst he got me was an elbow to the nose that caused a nose bleed, and one where he slammed my back into the thermostat. Literally last week my husband asked "Why don't we wrestle anymore" and all that flashed through my head. I don't like the idea of women hitting men any more than a man hitting a woman. Another double standard was in the news recently of Michelle Carter who convinced her 18 year old boyfriend to commit suicide in a quest for sympathetic attention from friends, family and the general public, face jail time. Her texts to him were exposed and she was facing a maximum of 20 years. But it was dropped to only 2 1/2 years, 15 months jail 15 months probation. You can find the transcript of the messages online. The sickest thing is not just what she was saying to the kid, but the fact she remained in a phone call to listen to him die. When it comes to the justice system, men have it far worse by a long shot. Therefore, I believed she should have served a much much higher sentence.

I only wish whoever compiled this knew what double standard meant. Many of these are just examples of different problems in different situations. Eg: skimpy armor on women is a double standard between men and women based only on gender. BUT Skinny woman with burger VS chubby woman with burger are different situations. Yes, as crazy as it sounds your physical shape relates to physical condition and what you can handle. Skinny guy can't lift car but Dwayne Johnson probably can, it's not double standard to notice that. Woman without child vs mother, 2 different arguments in 2 different situations. The lie of omission there is not accounting for the fact that there are also different people making the arguments.
The point of woman with vs without child is that women get judged and shamed no matter which choice they make, by strangers who know nothing about what factors went into that decision. You have no right to judge someone for choosing to be a parent or not. Just as the woman's doctor is the only person who should be telling her what to eat or not eat.

This is funny :) I never think in double standards... my mother was a career woman her mother a housewife... I choose to be a musican and I feel we're all equal because inside our shells down to the core we are all the same - human, we have been both male and female in previous lives... its our soul that remains the same and unchangable... and all these ideas are just people loosing touch with reality :) non of its real... lets focus on what we have in common rather than be divided on issues that are not real, only petty nuances.

There are both men and women idiots in this world and problems with double standards are also suffered by men a lot. Among them we can see how women suffer a lesser sentence for the same crime that a man could commit, how men are asked more in a relationship than women, how now society only focuses on ´´Girl Power´´ but not on ´´Man Power´´, seeing how industries, companies, and others focus attention on women and not on men (or rather, focus on both since that would be true equality).

You should know #11, 21, 26 and 36 contradict #30. They contradict by fat shaming women when 30 is cheering them on for being with a thin man, which is b******t. I'm intrigued. All of these posts about body standards show either overweight women who are otherwise fashionable and well-kept or unfashionable women who still seem pretty well take care of. They're always so clean in every depiction. Meanwhile the boys complaining that women treat handsome men better than unattractive men are sporting greasy, unwashed, uncut hair, neckbeards, acne, chapped lips, they're dehydrated, oily, unkempt, underwashed, unshaved, wearing dirty clothes, and then unfashionable and sometimes overwight on TOP of all that but those last two are really unimportant compared to the rest of all that. Hygiene and cleanliness are WAY more important than a few pounds. That's why James Corden is cute af and these guys aren't. The bottom line is that if you don't take care of yourself you don't come off as someone who would ever be good at taking care of someone else. Before claiming its a weight or fashion thing, ask yourself if its a hygiene thing.

Loved this compilation. Sadly, I have been working in purely "men´s area" for many years and I must say that almost all comics in the article were true. The stereotypes are b***h. It was quite surprising that half of the people saying various c**p like above were women though and according to my experience I can say that the bigotry and stupidity is the same at both genders. I think I heard it all and I do not care anymore. Why punish yourself for someone else being an idiot? Our patriarchal society creates double standards that harm women the most, but that also harm men (such as society telling men that they shouldn't show any emotion or that they can't be as good parents as women). We do need to point out the harmful effects of these double standards on men. But even so, some of the comics here (especially the ones on the last page) depict women in a really vile, misogynistic way that is not at all in the spirit of the other comics in the series.

They leave out the very real factor of power and social hierarchy; they only work if society is already 100% equal, so that if a woman takes power, she's taking unfair advantage. Eg: skimpy armor on women is a double standard between men and women based only on gender. BUT Skinny woman with burger VS chubby woman with burger are different situations.
