46 Examples Of Double Standards In Our Society That You’re Probably Guilty Of
Equality is humanity's Holy Grail, the cornerstone of most value systems, but we have yet to reap all of its rewards. Sure, our society has tremendously evolved for the better during the last, say, 100 years, but a long journey is still ahead, and the vast array of double standards that still divide people to this day highlight this perfectly.
The double standard definition states that it is a rule or a principle applied to different people or groups. The most prominent case of double standard examples to this day come from gender equality. What's usually okay for men, is not acceptable when done by women. Starting with beach attire and ending with lady bosses, society finds unnecessary ways to chime in about what's wrong and what's right.
Bored Panda has compiled a list of insightful illustrations that uncover the uncomfortable truth behind some everyday life situations, and it's (mildly) disturbing how accurate they are. Judging by these images, it's clear that sometimes terms like 'gender equality' are reduced to no more than a catchphrase. Scroll down to see the proof for yourself, and vote for your favorites.

I get fake geek girl all the time! I wear big glasses, I dress differently and I do occasionally play games. People I know say I'm trying to be a fake geek girl or gamer girl and I have no idea what they mean. I'm not trying to be anything I'm just comfy this way! I'm glad it's not just me who experiences this

That's really annoying. I only have an experience as a passer-by or a witness but I can say some people indeed are narrow-minded enough to act like that.

That reminds me of the man who made the experience of signing all his emails by a female name for a week to talk about gender inequality in doing business. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/what-happened-when-a-man-signed-work-emails-using-a-female-name-for-a-week_us_58c2ce53e4b054a0ea6a4066
Makeup vs. Natural
So damn true. One time I overheard my coworkers talking and these two guys were discussing about "girls who put makeup are so insecure, it's like they couldn't even go out without makeup if their life depended on it". Then another day in the same week, I was so tired I decided not to put makeup. The very same guy saying this was like "omg what happened to your face?". Yeah no wonder why women are "so insecure"...

If you're a true pro-life, instead of blaming a stranger, do something towards building a society where abortion is not needed. Same goes for (extremist) pro-choicers - instead of hating on some women's decisions, let's do something towards building society where abortion is not something a womam does because "she had no other choice".
And this comic depicts these needs perfectly! (Phew, not to be misunderstood....)
Load More Replies...And the f*****g truth is, that nobody blames the absent man who obviously made the baby! It´s always only the woman´s problem. vomit...
That is always the case, isn't it? I am glad someone here has mentioned that sad fact. Men are just as responsible as women for every pregnancy, yet they assume less than 1% of the responsibility for birth control. One thing that really chaps my hide is men complaining about abortions when they themselves have had unprotected sex with women. Sharing that category are all the sanctimonious Christians condemning abortion, while supporting the troops, desptite all the children they murder in other countries. WTF??!
Load More Replies...I personally would not have an abortion but I would never knock someone for that being their choice. I think people should really learn to mind their own business and stop thinking they have the right to dictate what others do.
I don't like abortion, but it at times is a necessary evil. I like it even less when the same people who are against abortion are against taking care of mothers as a society (or anyone who needs supporting). I honestly don't think you can be Christian (most conservative pro-lifers are) and be against taking care of your fellow man and woman.
I find it nothing short of amazing that so many people complain so bitterly about their taxes funding things like women's health care, including abortion, child care, nutrition assistance, education grants and welfare, but not a word about the 60+% of the entire bulk of our taxes being skimmed right off the top to fund the military invasion and occupation of other countries and the murder of their people.
Dude... it should be the mother's choice if she has the child or not. Not the law's choice, the mother's choice. If she believes that it's wrong, then that's her choice. If she believes it's right, then it's her choice. Honestly.
Then, it should be father's choice to pay or not for children.
Load More Replies...There is a third option in this debate that's not represented. It's not just abortion or single parenthood. There's always adoption too.
Yes, there is. But, sadly, it's not so simple. The problem is that not all women have safe pregnancies, but sometimes laws stop doctors from acting quickly and do what's right in the given situation.
Load More Replies...I want to take this opportunity to bring up the topic of body anonymity. What will happen to your body when you die? Will you be buried, cremated, planted with a seed to nourish a tree? How about you donate your body to science? It could be used to save possibly countless lives! Why doesn't everyone donate their body? In fact, it should be mandatory, shouldn't it? It might save lives, and it would totally save tons of space vs burning you. But are you going to go out right now and sign your body over to a university? Probably not. You'll probably opt for a regular ceremony and burial in a fancy cemetery somewhere where your relatives will toss some flowers on your headstone once every blue moon. If we can't force someone to donate their body to science, we can't force them to carry a baby they don't want. It's the same principle. You save lives but give up your body, or you keep your body and let someone else make that contribution. It should be up to you, shouldn't it?
The word you are after is autonomy, not anonymity.
Load More Replies...I'm a young single mom and I have to deal with a lot of judgements from others. Our society is so wrong that I keep thinking.. oh they must think this of this about me. I always feel like I have to prove and explain and it's real bad for my confidence as a Mother. I worry enough without the standards and judgements from others. They don't know why I'm a single mother or how tough it can get. I work and in september I'm going to start a HBO study. I want to give my son a bright future and I do everything for a smile on his face. I do believe there needs to be done more to stop women from getting unwanted pregnant but it will always be a problem. So it's good that there is the opportunity to get an abortion. Sometimes it's the best thing to do, but it can be very traumatic for a women. A child needs his both parents, but not when it would grow up in a toxic environment. For us it's better like this, now I can be the best, loving and stable mom that he need.
Sometimes, it's better to split. If you don't feel good in the relationship, your child will certainly not, and it will be better to have a single good, stable and functional parent that can care, than two halfwits fighting each other, often causing trauma and instability for the kid. Just like you, get it over and done with. Better things will come. People are b****y by nature as they always knows your situation better than you do, and stick their noses where they don't belong. Good luck to you and your son, and give the knowbetters your two-finger salute. Trust me, sometimes, some "friends" are not really that much of friends, and you are better off without them. I myself, keep tabs on them, and if they go too deep in the red for the wrong reasons, sometimes, it's better just to cut lose, get new friends that are better for you. Remember that a good friend is one that stays with you when it gets rough. Just remember to reciprocate when they need it.
Load More Replies...I don't think being raised in a single parent household impacts a child's development. I'm being raised by my dad just fine and I don't have any developmental problems I've been accepted into a technical school thanks to being raised by my dad since he pushed me to do me best and encouraging me while my ma said I shouldn't try. Being raised by a single parent is just fine as long as they don't abuse you.
Yes mabye you're pro life for the baby, but take a pregnant women who was raped, you're taking away her life by forcing her to have this child and throwing away her future by making her raise a child she had no choice but to give birth to. I say pro life for the women, the rapists should be punished here, not the women.
Those circumstances can apply without being raped. Any woman who has a baby is still throwing away a personal future to raise a child. That's why abortion is so important.
Load More Replies...Such a no win situation with an attached stigma. Been a target here as a young single mom, a working mom & a stay at home mom & baby was born with a genetic terminal illness. We both lost this battle......
i will gladly have my taxes go to welfare and not abortion. let's make single parenting less of a stigma, and more work friendly.
I'll gladly do both. Overpopulation is a problem alongside poverty. We don't need to take care of more people if those people are unwanted and preventable in the first place.
Load More Replies...I don't think it's anyone's business what a woman chooses to do for her own body. Just because you believe a fetus is a human with rights doesn't give you the right to try and force your belief on others. A woman choosing to have an abortion, regardless of your beliefs, has no impact on your life. If I chose to have an abortion tomorrow and never told anyone, whose life would be impacted (for the sake of this statement, pretend the father supports whatever decision the woman makes... or maybe he has no clue she's pregnant and never plans on knowing and would definitely be for abortion if he did know).
To those speech bubble people: F█ck you, you little pr█cks. Go to hell.
I am pro life in general but I also believe that women should have the right to get an abortion in extreme cases such as rape or if having a child would be endangering the mother.
pro-lifers need to get a life in the first place, and the rest need to pipe down a notch after taking a good hard look at themselves. why do people think that they can dictate how others whould live, all while screaming blue murder when someone else does it to them? mind your own business, folks...
Because we don't like murder, regardless of whether you try to disguise it as such with a clinical term like "choice". What is the good hard look I need to take at myself by the way? I may be a sinner, we all are, but murder is never something i will condone.
Load More Replies...It's not about "blaming" anyone. It's about recognizing that the unborn baby is a separate whole being with a right to life.
As a Christian (not all Christians think like this) I think that abortion should be legal until the heart beat, unless the mother has a reason to not have the baby. If you don’t know by 6 weeks that’s not ideal and you should always be sure if there’s a possibility that you’re pregnant. Rape, incest, fatal deformities, dangers to the mother, etc, they all are valid reasons to have an abortion. Of course it’s still the mothers choice, not the fathers because the mother has to carry it and give birth. Everyone has their opinions, please don’t hate on others for theirs people!
Exhibit A - (in america at least) say a guy rapes a girl and knocks her up, he's going to jail for less time than her if she gets an abortion. Exhibit B - if a fourteen year old girl wants a child and is financially stable, no ones going to let her adopt a baby right?? yet if a girl of that age needs an abortion because she cant support the child and she might die giving birth, she has to have it. PRO CHOICE, ITS NOT A CHOICE A BUNCH OF OLD FASHION WHITE MALES CAN MAKE FOR US GIRLS
Explain this, please, someone. I'm pretty confused, dunno what's happening here.
Don't know if this can be described as a "double standard", it's more a matter of polarisation of opinions resulting in (unjustified) criticism in any event.
I dont want you to murder your spouse, is it now my responsibility to pay for your spouses wellbeing and invite them into my family.
I've commented on this before but can find my comment so I'll say it again, this (#20) is so true if you have an abortion your "just a murderer" but if you have the baby and become a single mother "your just a drain on the system" and both comments will come from the same person! That's why I call people pro birth not pro life
I don't think these people realize that you can get pregnant from rape and it's pathetic! Yes it was YOUR mistake that you got raped, it's a choice YOU made! If you got raped and can't take care of a baby, there is nothing wrong with getting an abortion! If you can't take care of a baby, getting an abortion is obviously a better idea! If you can't take care of a child then it's not going to have a very great life, but if you abort it that's MURDER. Let me put it this way: if you had the option, would you kill an already born baby but keep an unborn baby alive, or kill an unborn baby and keep an already born baby alive?? If the unborn baby is just as important, my question is impossible to answer
Raising a child that looks like your rapist. No thanx. In cases like that: Abortion always +1
Load More Replies...Wow it’s pretty simple, you wanna have sex, be prepared for a kid and a partnership, If you can’t accept those consequences of your actions then doesn’t matter your gender, don't do it! And do us people with functionaing brain cells a favor and sterilize yourself! We don’t need society getting any more braindead and broken! Thanks a lot double standard hoes! You single moms are the dumbest thing to happen to America!
Well rape happens. Birth control failure happens. Are you really saying “gee you just got sexually assaulted, a traumatic experience that will likely need therapy. Here, have a child that will cost thousands to birth, and more to raise!”
Load More Replies...It's not a tiny human, but a fetus. It can't even be considered sentient until about 24 weeks along, and even then not as sentient as a common dog or cat. On top of that, you are not allowed to control what we do with any part of our bodies any more than we women are allowed to control what you do with your bodily products.
Load More Replies...What is common sense is that a fetus isn't even sentient until 5-6 months along, and a woman is a fully developed human with every right to autonomy over her own body and anything living in or on it. Even the anti-choice "rulebook" (The Bible) didn't even give a born infant any worth until it was a month old!
Load More Replies...Men who are pregnant have the right to get an abortion. Men who are not pregnant don't get to choose what someone else does with their own body.
Load More Replies...All sex should lead to babies? Do you live in hell? That sounds like losing to me.
Load More Replies..."The first option is totally forgotten." Huh? You think people would rather spend 500+ dollars and have to go through an abortion than use birth control? For what purpose? Because it's a fun thing to do? Are you slow?

I think only women have a problem with this. I can't imagine guy's really finding this a big deal. XD Also on the beach people sunbathe topless as well so. As far as armpit hair. Well you're free to do it. But people are also free to not find you attractive then. But there are all kinds of things people find attractive and not attractive so I don't really see a problem.
Shallow vs. Desperate
very well done! and the girl in the second instance doesn't even get a speech-bubble, let alone a date!
Dressing Appropriately
Girls vs. Boys
Society's Take On Men
The second one will always be an idiotic statement, for both male and female. I hear it a lot, yet don't understand why it's a race to get intimate with another person. It's a personal experience and (can be) something special, on top of that: It's none of another's business, and if those think it is, they're the ones leading a sad life. Sure, the term "Lucky at cards, unlucky in love" is on it's place in this regard, but luck can switch lanes now and then.
Dad Bod vs. Mom Bod
Have we totally forgotten how milf went ? Not that that was great but, seriously ? Which one do we pick? Can we just be who we are, male, female, or however, and just be happy? The insecurity is mind blowing to me, on behalf of the observer!
Sexual Harassment
How is this a relevant comparison? How about comparing the reaction you get as a male when telling someone about being a victim of sexual assault.
Things You Can Only Do With Boys
Double Standards
I dont agree that only weak men show emotion. It's nice to see a man who has emotions instead of trying to act like they are made of stone, with no feelings.
Appearance Standards
Comic Book Characters
Honestly, I have a problem with either gender of superhero being displayed in a sexual manner.
Sexualizing Bodies
Equality
We were playing around, play fighting when I kicked my husband in the balls. It wasn't on purpose and I instantly felt horrible as he spent about 5 minutes in pain on the floor. The worst he got me was an elbow to the nose that caused a nose bleed, and one where he slammed my back into the thermostat. Literally last week my husband asked "Why don't we wrestle anymore" and all that flashed through my head. I don't like the idea of women hitting men any more than a man hitting a woman. The only fighting I am okay with is play fighting.
Double Standards
Problem Solving
I don't agree with this one. Men get a lot of pressure on their bodies, as much as women. There is not a single person I met who said that they should "accept themselves" as a way to solve their problems (with getting laid). On the same note, any magazine cover will show that makeup is not a way to solve problems, or there wouldn't be 254 pages of the "new amazing diet already used by 45 stars that will make you lose weight before you even realize it". And we also have countless articles on "accept yourself and screw who doesn't, you don't need them anyway"...
Acceptable vs. Unacceptable
As someone who hate body hair, both are unacceptable. But I don't care about what they do as long as I don't have to touch them :p
Double Standards
Men And Women
I kinda like emotional boys more, like, atleast they aren't like those "badass" shitsacks like others. Also, expressing emotions is actually good for own body.
Standards For Dressing
Wait... what is this trying to say, even? What I gather is that people will judge you regardless of how you look. Surprise!
Double Standards In The Workplace
This is why I like the medical field. Everyone dresses the same
The Smiley Face Double Standard
Double Standards In Relationships
I hate it when people are like " Looks likes someones on there period." it's so annoying
Girl Power
women like that are the ones who make people think wrong about feminism. And, because many people are soooo closed minded, they think every single woman who wants equity are like that.
Double Standards
Gender Equality
Another double standard: just saw a news article about a female teacher that had sex with 4 of her students. Alot of comments on this are: "Boy, wish I had a teacher like that in school", "nicely done guys", ... Yet, if it had said "male teacher has sex with students" the comments would've been "omg, pedophile/perv", "castrate him", ... Both are just wrong and bad...-_-
Another double standard was in the news recently of Michelle Carter who convinced her 18 year old boyfriend to commit suicide in a quest for sympathetic attention from friends, family and the general public, face jail time. Her texts to him were exposed and she was facing a maximum of 20 years. But it was dropped to only 2 1/2 years, 15 months jail 15 months probation. You can find the transcript of the messages online. The sickest thing is not just what she was saying to the kid, but the fact she remained in a phone call to listen to him die. When it comes to the justice system, men have it far worse by a long shot. Therefore, I believed she should have served a much much higher sentence.
Load More Replies...We should stop slutshaming and bodyshaming eachother girls! (Girls can be so mean to eachother)
Disagree wtih number 8. Fathers are told: oh are you babysitting today? or stuff like"you must be giving mom a day off."
And most likely if she's saying something like; "Daddy painted your nails, how cute" she's thinking something completely different like; "you're and utter moron and I'm quietly laughing at you while I feel sorry for your wife and daughter".
Load More Replies...The comic book ones are wrong. Male characters are shown in positions of power, women are drawn to be sexy. That much has been proven & all the "comic book double standard" cartoons ignored that.
Well to be fair, Supergirl also has a cape and wears her undies on the outside just like Superman.
Load More Replies...I only wish whoever compiled this knew what double standard meant. Many of these are just examples of different problems in different situations. Eg: skimpy armor on women is a double standard between men and women based only on gender. BUT Skinny woman with burger VS chubby woman with burger are different situations. Yes, as crazy as it sounds your physical shape relates to physical condition and what you can handle. Skinny guy can't lift car but Dwayne Johnson probably can, it's not double standard to notice that. Woman without child vs mother, 2 different arguments in 2 different situations. The lie of omission there is not accounting for the fact that there are also different people making the arguments.
The point of woman with vs without child is that women get judged and shamed no matter which choice they make, by strangers who know nothing about what factors went into that decision. You have no right to judge someone for choosing to be a parent or not. Just as the woman's doctor is the only person who should be telling her what to eat or not eat.
Load More Replies...Older woman + Younger man = Cougar Older man + Younger woman = Gold Digger/Daddy issues
That comparison is subjective and what you're doing is generalizing. There are male gold-diggers and there are successful younger women who are self-sufficient with no daddy issues.
Load More Replies...I wish they were all on the same page so I didn't ave to wade thru clickbait adverts.
These are great, but #27 I think is straight out of Gamergate manuals. There's no need to bash overweight people regardless of gender.
Actually, as an addendum, several of those are Gamergate material, pages 4-5. Sorry, no, wages equality issues exist, and they're not just female hysterics.
Load More Replies...We have started to accept transgender people and treat them like humans and working on how we can make people feel less excluded and more human but we still keep labelling ourselves with these primitive labels.
Transgender people are men or women. Not "other." A transwoman is a woman, and a transman is a man. I think you meant to say genderqueer people.
Load More Replies...I especially liked number #8. Unfortunately can relate to it thinking about my highschool experiences :/
The bossy girl vs assertive boy is not nor has it ever been true. Plenty of boys have been called bossy too. There are good leaders, male and female, and there are bad leaders who simply want everyone to do things their way. They are called bossy. Also if your super is abrasive it never matters if they are male or female. This weak claim needs to die. Also shooting the breeze vs gossip. One involves discussing subjects of no importance with about noon who matters and no one is harmed unless copious amounts of alcohol is involved. Gossip usually involves talking smack about other people behind their backs and is the general cause of a great deal of societal ills. Lynchings, witch hunts and gamergate all start with gossip.
#30 Fat-shaming isn't okay for any gender. However, the image on the left (large guy, thinner, woman) is the standard trope for TV couples. Rarely is it the other way around. See: http://www.ranker.com/list/greatest-fat-guy-skinny-wife-couples/ranker-tv?utm_expid=16418821-311.AAszGoDYQ7WZsue0Bhz6ww.0&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F Plus, the guy on the left is drawn in a way that makes him appear unattractive regardless of size. Shave the unkempt facial/neck hair and--more importantly--draw him with the warm smile of the guy in the other picture and the image gives a different impression. Body size is not all there is about having an attractive appearance--for any gender.
Almost all of these are meninist neckbeard b******t male entitilement resentment. Most of these comic are illustrations of exactly what the problem is: men seeing their privilege as equality just because that's the way it's always been. Wake up dudebro's: if a woman takes on power, she's not stealing yours: it was never yours to begin with. Almost without exception, she's not taking advantage of you, she's leveling the playing field. Climb out of your mom's basement and interact with the real world and learn what other people are really like.
This is funny :) I never think in double standards... my mother was a career woman her mother a housewife... I choose to be a musican and I feel we're all equal because inside our shells down to the core we are all the same - human, we have been both male and female in previous lives... its our soul that remains the same and unchangable... and all these ideas are just people loosing touch with reality :) non of its real... lets focus on what we have in common rather than be divided on issues that are not real, only petty nuances.
i wish i could like this 1000 times. double standards r stupid. a shame nothing about disability is in there either. when u got mental or physical disability ( i had this personal experience) ppl ask u in study or career wise " u sure u wanna go for that? how will u cope etc!" instead of encouraging having ur back, will be the first to tell u they told u so, let u fall . but then be the same people who r like " u seen that girl with downsyndrome modellling. good for her so proud of her. wish more ppl with disabilities would go into careers and excell" ... its just ignorant >_< yes not all of us are capable of doing things but if society would adapt the majority of us could do some kind of work! excel and would feel like valued members of society. We got so many ideas etc and not able to share its frustrating.
And it is precisely because all these examples of double standards are not even so common or habitual, they really occur very little.
Load More Replies...God, most of these images are ridiculous attempts at victimization towards women. There are both men and women idiots in this world and problems with double standards are also suffered by men a lot. Among them we can see how women suffer a lesser sentence for the same crime that a man could commit, how men are asked more in a relationship than women, how now society only focuses on ´´Girl Power´´ but not on ´´Man Power´´, seeing how industries, companies, and others focus attention on women and not on men (or rather, focus on both since that would be true equality).
Some of these are good. The rest are sexist tropes that single out women unfairly. Is it really an enlightened article when you sprinkle in sexist jibes? Booo.
The only one I disagree with is the sexual assault one, men tend to get a lot if not more judgment
I feel like this person needs to know it not okay to run around with you boobs out just like it's not okay for me to run around with my penis out. They are both private parts. Also the sexist men are like 5% of the population I don't think that many people are sexist cause women often forget it works both ways
Also, yes sexism works both ways. But last I checked men didn't lose they're right to vote, work, dress how they want, or go out by themselves. Also, 97% of the male sex population hasn't been raped or sexually assaulted (forcably impregnated in a lot of cases.) like women have, just to end up being told they were "asking for it" or just being sexualized further.
Load More Replies...My BFF is 2 years and 3 months younger than me and we get a lot of negative comments but if it was reversed he'd get a high five
Most of those meme had to make a female. I am not saying they are absolutely false, they are just over expressed. As female would do them. 🤷🏻♂️ For example: Woman-things are bad. So man shouldn’t act like woman. Woman-things are bad said nobody ever and if, it was stupid being. So man shouldn’t act like woman, of course man shouldn’t act like woman. Man are not woman so they act differently. That is simple thing this. 🤦🏻♂️ Woman are emotional therefore man shouldn’t be emotional. This sentence is BS. Everyone is emotional somehow. Woman usually express themselves more then man. I don’t see anything wrong with it. Woman are more on words and talks and man are more on actual work to be done. That is what I call equality as we simply supplement each other in life. We cannot exists without each other.
Can you blame me for my sexist education when the world showed me that this is fine?
You should know #11, 21, 26 and 36 contradict #30. They contradict by fat shaming women when 30 is cheering them on for being with a thin man, which is b******t. Fat shaming happens all the time, especially when out with a thinner man. I actually had someone walk up to me and a date (on our first date) and asked the guy "can't you control her over eating? You shouldn't allow her to be seen in public when she is so fat." So yeah, 30 is wrong.
I'm intrigued. All of these posts about body standards show either overweight women who are otherwise fashionable and well-kept or unfashionable women who still seem pretty well take care of. They're always so clean in every depiction. Meanwhile the boys complaining that women treat handsome men better than unattractive men are sporting greasy, unwashed, uncut hair, neckbeards, acne, chapped lips, they're dehydrated, oily, unkempt, underwashed, unshaved, wearing dirty clothes, and then unfashionable and sometimes overwight on TOP of all that but those last two are really unimportant compared to the rest of all that. Hygiene and cleanliness are WAY more important than a few pounds. That's why James Corden is cute af and these guys aren't. The bottom line is that if you don't take care of yourself you don't come off as someone who would ever be good at taking care of someone else. Before claiming its a weight or fashion thing, ask yourself if its a hygiene thing.
The one of the good looking guy getting away with a complement to the female worker while the ugly guy scares her, people may have easily come to that conclusion insinuated in the comic, but in reality the good looking guy already built up a rapport with her earlier and now appears to be getting away with saying things that she doesn't like other guys doing.
just saw a youtube video called just for laughs it was about a woman going around in the street groping guys down below and the guys were shocked but took in their stride and walked on by but can you imagine if it was the other way around the guy would be arrested charged will sexual harassment jailed and put on the sex offenders list for years lose his work and girlfriend and be called a pervert for the rest of his life and probably end his own life....double f*****g standards....and all for a laugh..
Only 6% of rapists even spend a day in jail... And the average they spend in there are 3 years. Sex offenders list is for sexual assault/rape on those under 16, literal CHILDREN. That video was staged. Out of the 3.73 BILLION women who have been raped/sexually assaulted MAINLY BY MEN, you're gonna sit here and pin women as the bad guys?
Load More Replies...I agree with everything except #45 there's a difference between chest and genitals.
exactly, I was waiting for a comment about that. I also disagree with the comics ones
Load More Replies...Loved this compilation. Sadly, I have been working in purely "men´s area" for many years and I must say that almost all comics in the article were true. The stereotypes are b***h. It was quite surprising that half of the people saying various c**p like above were women though and according to my experience I can say that the bigotry and stupidity is the same at both genders. I think I heard it all and I do not care anymore. Why punish yourself for someone else being an idiot? Better do not take it personally and just make fun of such people with an irresistible smile on your face. ;-)
Haha some of these were funny and true, others were sad and true but there were a few that were gender based differences not society based differences.
Cringeworthy, the most of this post. Sounds like it's for teens to adolescents. or u must be a weird person yourself to be so negative and judgemental all the time. besides, what's wrong with saying a person is too fat to take the role of lara croft on her, or superman? when hollywood makes a movie, they cast a guy that fits the character, but in real life it;s suddenly a problem. this sjw/pc attitude is destroying more then it is helping.
Most of these are really good. But a few are really misogynistic. Our patriarchal society creates double standards that harm women the most, but that also harm men (such as society telling men that they shouldn't show any emotion or that they can't be as good parents as women). We do need to point out the harmful effects of these double standards on men. But even so, some of the comics here (especially the ones on the last page) depict women in a really vile, misogynistic way that is not at all in the spirit of the other comics in the series.
Are all these about gender? Seems it's pretty horrible to be a woman.
Almost all of these are standard neckbear misogyny that take no account of societal context. They leave out the very real factor of power and social hierarchy; they only work if society is already 100% equal, so that if a woman takes power, she's taking unfair advantage. Whereas the reality is that in most circumnstances, if a woman takes on power of her own initiative, she's leveling the playing field. This is a bunch of meninist b******t.
What's your definition of power? I will agree context is almost non-existent. Most men don't feel threatened when a woman is self sufficient or even in control, in fact its quite attractive. When she acts like men or women owe her something, then it switches, because there's obvious insecurity there and this is the same for men.

A lot of these are stupid. especially the split figures. When someone says one thing they aren’t saying be the complete opposite. They are saying find more moderation. You can have less of a characteristic without being the complete opposite
O__o This article was about Double standards, yet the one who posted it was committing a double standard. Like you literally only had ones where all the guys were the Villains. Then I find out the persons name was Monika. Uh huh.- Also allot of these seem very in-accurate or un-observant of ones own abilities. For example: Crazy and Angry are very different for specific reason and Hitting someone no matter the Gender is still wrong.
How about the racial double standards ? I can't be proud to be a straight white man. Every other racial spectrum can be.
Why the f**k would you be proud of that? You have no control over being white or straight or a man. Where is the source of pride for being born a certain way?

Load More Replies...Actually we know that it's changed since primitive times. Studies show that modern women are more likely to mate with smaller, smarter men rather than muscular providers. This is because of equality leading to women being able to provide for themselves. Look it up. There are many things primitive people did that we no longer need to do.

Load More Replies...Another double standard: just saw a news article about a female teacher that had sex with 4 of her students.

Out of the 3.73 BILLION women who have been raped/sexually assaulted MAINLY BY MEN, you're gonna sit here and pin women as the bad guys?

exactly, I was waiting for a comment about that.
Better do not take it personally and just make fun of such people with an irresistible smile on your face. ;-)
