Equality is humanity's Holy Grail, the cornerstone of most value systems, but we have yet to reap all of its rewards. Sure, our society has tremendously evolved for the better during the last, say, 100 years, but a long journey is still ahead, and the vast array of double standards that still divide people to this day highlight this perfectly.

The double standard definition states that it is a rule or a principle applied to different people or groups. The most prominent case of double standard examples to this day come from gender equality. What's usually okay for men, is not acceptable when done by women. Starting with beach attire and ending with lady bosses, society finds unnecessary ways to chime in about what's wrong and what's right.

Bored Panda has compiled a list of insightful illustrations that uncover the uncomfortable truth behind some everyday life situations, and it's (mildly) disturbing how accurate they are. Judging by these images, it's clear that sometimes terms like 'gender equality' are reduced to no more than a catchphrase. Scroll down to see the proof for yourself, and vote for your favorites.

Yep, happens. All. The. Time. Plus, when someone wants to complain about our kids' behaviour, in nine our of ten cases they address me, and neither my husband NOR my children. This is frustrating for me, and a total disenpowerment not only to my husband (who works hard to still do his 50% share of bringing up our kids) but also to my children.

I was a stay at home dad for two kids for seven years and the garbage I had to put up with, (mostly from women, I'll add) was fairly epic at times. I actually had people try to take my children out of my arms because they thought I didn't know what I was doing because I'm male. Dads are assumed to be idiots when it comes to child rearing and it's demeaning and infuriating.

Not to mention that society assumes that in order to be a good and normal woman you must have kids. If you happen to say you don't like kids you get informed "it's different when you have your own" as if it's a given you will have kids because you're a woman.

I personally don't care if women don't want kids, but around here lots of women don't, or they get them very late (30-35) to accomodate for career. I got my first one at 24 and am 4 years later still the only one in both my family and group of friends with a kid x) I myself actually get tired of al the harsh comments of some people who don't want kids - they sometimes really try to make me feel like having a kid was a crime. Which I'd like them to look in my daughters face and have the heart to say, honestly.

I'll add to this. When I take my kids out (since I'm the only parent they really kinda have - I'm the only one to take them out) I always, and I do mean always get asked, "Where's the mother?" My reply is usually, who the f**k cares where the mother is because it irritates me. Mothers aren't ever asked, "Where's the dad?" It's the assumption of society that dads can't be good parents. There must be a mother around if the kids are well-taken care of.

In this comic I've experienced the opposite. Everywhere I go with my kids and everything I do I always have other moms talking to me like I have no idea what I'm doing and they need to educate me on being a parent. "You probably dont know this but..." "I dont know if your wife told you this but..." "Your parenting skills are okay but..." I swear they look at me like they are expecting my kids to die on my watch. But actually I think people are just a******s to all parents.

My dad probably experienced this more. One time i just got my period and mom was working so dad told me to CVS to get pads and a lady near us asked where my mom was n I'm like uh workin ? I was just having a hard time picking which one I wanted. But I guess the lady thought my dad didn't know what to do. But most of the time ladies would go "aw what a kind father" to my dad whenever he said "pick anything you want princess!". (Kinda wish my mom called me that instead of lazy bones all the times)

1. Dad never go out to shop. And I wouldn't have the time to pay attention to others next to my three under-six kids and a shopping list. Just really doesn't give a c**p. 2. We wouldn't use nail polish on our kids. 3. That's just incorrect, men also asked about their kids when meeting someone, they are part of our lives, why wouldn't we discuss them? Or maybe I just have good friends, because this isn't the only topic we can talk about and feels natural next to everything else. 4. BS. Dads on their phone also got judged by other parents on the playground. 5. This one is true for me and the MOST ANNOYING. I either react to this question with fake panic - "Oh, s**t! I forgot about them!" - or simply answer with deadpan face, that the cat is looking after them.

I might a man but I feel I get treated like the woman in the cartoon whenever I take the kids out. I get women telling me I'm carrying the baby wrong, her head is at an awkward angle, where is her hat? She's not appropriately dressed for the weather, why is she crying ?I should do something... I always get told" uv got u r hands full"... and I'm neither allowed to glance at my phone. Once I was out with the 3 kids, got lost and was looking on Google maps ...I got some "tut, tuts " here and there and a group of elderly women muttering g something about "all men"

As a dad who has lived the fulltime with a baby dream, I have to say, this just doesn't quite hit the mark. Every time I would go out with my baby, someone would complement me on giving a hard working woman a break. If people found I was on my own with a baby, they would often react with abuse/anger. People constantly assume you are violent and mad and your child is at risk, and when they get a bit older, people treat you with suspicion when you are sitting at the park watching the kids on the playground. Any woman you are with is automatically grouped with your child, and all questions are directed towards them, and if anything ever goes right, it is assumed that some woman working in the background makes it so.

Maybe the female side are right (but also not always, I think) but the male side looks wrong to me. If a parent no matter if mother or father and he or she will look all the time (!) on their phone instead watching their children I will think it is wrong and somehow judge. Also, many mothers just want to talk about their babies (more in the beginning I think) and fathers often too. (That's what I have seen, so just personal experience) For me, this is a bit too negative, even if I know that comics are often exaggerated. Not that I think these doesn't happen, but I'm not sure how 'normal' this is in our soceity.

If you're a true pro-life, instead of blaming a stranger, do something towards building a society where abortion is not needed. Same goes for (extremist) pro-choicers - instead of hating on some women's decisions, let's do something towards building society where abortion is not something a womam does because "she had no other choice".

The second one will always be an idiotic statement, for both male and female. I hear it a lot, yet don't understand why it's a race to get intimate with another person. It's a personal experience and (can be) something special, on top of that: It's none of another's business, and if those think it is, they're the ones leading a sad life. Sure, the term "Lucky at cards, unlucky in love" is on it's place in this regard, but luck can switch lanes now and then.

Honestly, I have a problem with either gender of superhero being displayed in a sexual manner.

I think they over sexualize super heroes, but there is a difference. The male characters are being portrayed as strong, the women as sexual. If female super heros looked more like Serena Williams or Kerri Walsh it would be different.

We were playing around, play fighting when I kicked my husband in the balls. It wasn't on purpose and I instantly felt horrible as he spent about 5 minutes in pain on the floor. The worst he got me was an elbow to the nose that caused a nose bleed, and one where he slammed my back into the thermostat. Literally last week my husband asked "Why don't we wrestle anymore" and all that flashed through my head. I don't like the idea of women hitting men any more than a man hitting a woman. The only fighting I am okay with is play fighting.

I don't agree with this one. Men get a lot of pressure on their bodies, as much as women. There is not a single person I met who said that they should "accept themselves" as a way to solve their problems (with getting laid). On the same note, any magazine cover will show that makeup is not a way to solve problems, or there wouldn't be 254 pages of the "new amazing diet already used by 45 stars that will make you lose weight before you even realize it". And we also have countless articles on "accept yourself and screw who doesn't, you don't need them anyway"...

As someone who hate body hair, both are unacceptable. But I don't care about what they do as long as I don't have to touch them :p

I kinda like emotional boys more, like, atleast they aren't like those "badass" shitsacks like others. Also, expressing emotions is actually good for own body.

Wait... what is this trying to say, even? What I gather is that people will judge you regardless of how you look. Surprise!

women like that are the ones who make people think wrong about feminism. And, because many people are soooo closed minded, they think every single woman who wants equity are like that.

No. Any statistics on the subject will show that women do not get paid equally for the same job, with the same qualifications and experience.
