In case you weren't previously aware, the world we live in today is plagued by double standards, which most people are happy to ignore in the name of 'keeping the peace.' When Twitter users were asked by Hashtag Roundup to share some double standard examples using the hashtag #NowThatsADoubleStandard, they disturbed that peace like there was no tomorrow.
Some of them are 'classics' that we're all familiar with; men being made to feel ashamed for crying, women being called 'bitches' because of their confidence, and the debate over who, exactly, is allowed to go jogging with their top off. I asked about this double standard years ago, never could understand why....still don't .....just lost my desire to test it!
It's about male enjoyment of the sex act, people still believe that every time a woman has sex with a different man her vagina stretches out a little more. And of course, if it's too stretched out, it won't feel good for the man. So obviously, as women we must remain chaste so as to please our husbands properly.

Also, males having sex are men. Females having sex are girls. I have battled this language inequality since college.
Well, I have always seen that guys are called players and fûckboys when they get a lot of girls but when a girl goes around a lot, it is called 'slutshaming' to say something about it so maybe that also is a bit unfair

Even if that's unfair it's also partially because well... it's more difficult for a guy.. basically you have to be good looking fun smart and try a lot.
I dunno - look at how Clooney or DiCaprio are/ were depicted as hot bachelors with their string of exes. Then compare to Taylor Swift who is depicted as not being able to make a relationship work and having been with a lot of men (she even sings about it in Shake it Off).

Y'know, because of this stupid double standard, I find out almost impossible to cry when I need to let go of sorrow and pain. There's many a time I wished I could cry but couldn't.
Not all teachers are great.. They are humans and as in all areas, some can be pretty crappy humans. I had some awesome teachers, but also had my share of bad ones..
This one is especially bad. Grey hair should be seen as a sign of wisdom, not age. Also, i think this is a stereotype because women tend to dye their hair more often than men.
I've met plenty of creepy cute people, and some truly charasmatic, intelligent, funny "not-so-cute" (according to once culture's very limited, commercialised interpretation of "cute") people who I adore spending time with.

I am an avid horror film fan and this has bothered me a lot. I personally find sex scenes stupid and unnecessary and have often found myself to chose a 13 rated film over an 18 because I can expect more gore and less sex. That shouldn't be.

I would like to remind people there are double standards with men. I've seen it on this app numerous times. Pictures of half naked men: girls swoon. Pictures of half naked women: girls judge the every detail out of the photo. Being real here. If you down vote then I see you girl. I see you.
And then you have the men posting their shirtless selphies s**t-shaming women uploading their bikiny pictures, even when they're obviously not even meant to be sexual, like for example, just a scene at the beach with a tiny little protagonist not in the main focus of the surroundings.

(I assume this is about Trump) I am almost 100% sure that Trump is an atheist. Not a good person, or a thinking atheist (like, he's not generally skeptical, he just doesn't think or care about religion), but an atheist nonetheless, and I think it's weird that some of his hardcore Christian fanbase doesn't realize that.

According to the charity Prostate Cancer UK, breast cancer - the most common female cancer received more than double the annual research spend - £853 per breast cancer case diagnosed, compared to £417 for prostate cancer, though it is the most common male cancer. Both have very similar death rates. That’s double standards.
Men get breast cancer too btw (yes less but it does happen) - so also benefit from that research spend.

The items on this list were really thought-provoking and made me wonder why Bored Panda has only up and down voting buttons. Some of the downvoted comments were really valuable, it is just that they did not represent the opinion of the majority. I would like to see a separate "inappropriate" button for inappropriate comments, as not reflecting the opinion of the majority is not the same as making a comment which is against the value of this community.
I have seen Hoda Kotb of The Today Show oil up the bare chest of the Tongan Olympic torch runner, and I have seen her and Kathie Lee Gifford fawn over a shirtless, underage Justin Bieber. Now substitute the genders and witness one of the biggest double standards in our society.

I saw a girl in TV complaining about the fact that people were trying to get her in a date with a fat guy. She was super obese. What's the problem with the fat guy? Beauty comes in all shapes, right?
Even fat people are allowed to have a type, and people pushing two fat People To be together just because they are fat is bogus. . My husband is skinny AF and loves my fat a*s. Growing up in the 90s I always hated myself for not being skinny, then one day we were at Disney and he tells me how he was always attracted to Ursula and not Ariel and then it finally clicked.
