Orphanage donations aren’t helping an orphan; they’re hurting a child…
Most children in orphanages have at least one living parent.
Growing up in an orphanage can be a traumatic experience – Instead of living with their families where they belong, children grow up surrounded by strangers. They are vulnerable to, neglect exploitation and abuse.
As a result, when they leave the orphanage, many feel overwhelmed, lost and alone. And the difficulties they’ve experienced stay with them for the rest of their lives.
Instead of donating to an orphanage, children can be helped by supporting projects that keep families together, and promote family based care, such as income generation and social support programs.
Children need a positive, caring family environment more than anything.
