Artists often use a certain reference in order to make their art quicker and more accurate. What doesn’t happen often, though, is when the reference “decides” to be as close to the art piece as possible. Case and point—sculptor Mio Hashimoto and her pet dog Tsuki. Mio is a wood sculptor, and she often carves life-size animals out of it. Tsuki, on the other hand, is her muse and her main point of reference when it comes to sculpting dogs. They both hang out in the artist’s workshop among shavings and animal sculptures. One day, Tsuki decided to become like the sculptures that her owner made and blend in between them. Having an eye of an artist, Mio quickly spotted the potential for confusion and captured it.
Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly enough, the video went viral with over 6 million views and 500k likes, conquering the hearts of netizens as it went. The real question is, was it the artist’s work that caused them to click, or the immeasurable cuteness of the dog? In any case, the combination of the two is mesmerizing.

There’s a very diverse range of poses in these sculptures. A little too diverse, perhaps

When you look at dogs to spot their differences, the dog spots the differences in you

Here’s how the scene looked like in a video. It appears that the dog really tried to become a statue
