This Person Responded To A Writing Challenge, And Wrote A Story That Had Everyone Crying
Dogs will forever be known on the internet as the ‘good boys’ with hundreds of adorable photos and countless heroic deeds to back the title up. This, perhaps, was the inspiration behind a writing prompt that user Epidexipteryx posted on Reddit a week ago. The prompt was titled ‘When a beloved dog passes in the hereafter, they are given a choice. They can cross the Rainbow Bridge and await for their owners, or join the Sleepless Watch and defend the world from evil spirits’, and inspired many writing entries, but one of them truly stood out in the crowd. 6 days ago, user Euthenios responded with a short story that quickly gathered attention as people responded with almost 3k upvotes and hundreds of comments. We have to admit that it made us cry, so scroll down and read the story below. Oh, and grab some napkins, because we’re sure you’re gonna need them!

Share on FacebookMyles, my dog was put down yesterday. I really wish there was an afterlife for dogs.
If god made animals, they have to have a place to go to After. Even if they didn't have a good life, if they never had a Person of their own, there will be someone there who will love them, and someplace to play with others of their kind. I'm so very sorry about Miles...I found out yesterday my Shadow likely has a brain tumor. She's having 15-20 tiny seizures every time I take her out, and I know someday I'm going to have to make that horrible loving decision for her, too.

The only thing you can do is give your dog the best life possible. Always have clean cool water, fresh food, a warm bed, and most important love. Throw in a game of tug of war, a daily walk, a game of fetch, a special treat, belly rub, a good scratch, and that dog will love you forever.
That is so sweet and sad - I lost my lovely girl a couple of weeks ago - Am sure she will be keeping me as safe there as she did in life
My poor doggy Coco was put up there too, hopefully she chose to keep me safe.
I almost never cry when I read these kinds of things. But this make me cry like a baby. I miss my childhood dog so much right now! He was put down 4 years ago. He was my best friend in the world and i his.
So sad yet sweet. Thank you for sharing If your reading this I hope you have a great day and know. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NIV
I love the story but I've never had a dog. Can someone tell me what the sucking machine is? I assume the sharp place is the vet. Thanks
You must believe, I have sent a few very GOOD ones to their next life, and believe they are waiting for me !!!
If I were given half a choice between having my boys look over me for as long as I live, but never seeing them again, or having them with me forever on the other side I would definitely pick forever on the other side. Still, nice thought experiment (except for the part about cats being bad). It may just be me being human, but I'm selfish like that.
I love the story and the idea. It kinda reminded me of a movie also about a theory of doggie afterlife... I believe it is called "a dogs life" or something.
"A dog's purpose". Book is better, I recommend it. It doesn't have a corgi in it but well, there's no full happiness in this world. The second part of the book, "A dog's journey" is not made into a film yet.

It's a good story, but I didn't have the reaction that many others seem to. I think it's a pretty farfetched idea. I don't believe that when dogs pass they are still dogs. I believe that the spirits that inhabit dog bodies are special angelic spirits, so when they leave this realm, that is what they return to in the afterlife.
f**k off. do you hate emotions or something?
