A Greyhound with a broken leg found wandering the streets lead a vet two miles to her puppies despite her condition. Psychologist Lianne Powell was the one who spotted the doggie and took her to the vet. There, they noticed she was producing milk and realized the dog just had puppies. “We put a collar and long lead on her… Then we just followed her… She knew where she was going,” vet Ellen Sobry told The Daily Mail.
“Limping and at times dragging her cast, she led us along the backstreets and main roads over the fields and along muddy tracks… There in the back were 10 beautiful, fat little healthy puppies,” Powell said.
Sobry added: “It was incredible – I couldn’t believe what I saw… That dog didn’t know us, we’d only met her like an hour before so it was really incredible how she decided to trust and show us where they were.”
The Greyhound mom was named Vera, and she and her puppies are recovering at Ellen’s clinic. As soon as they’re ready for adoption, Ibizan Hound Rescue will help them found a loving forever home.

Share on FacebookAmazing mom, giving everything to her babies. Thank goodness life will improve dramatically from now on for them all.
I wonder what the back story is on such a docile dog. She can't have strayed long before this was recorded.
Boy she trusted you, she knew you were going to help, and just sat back and let you. These dogs are so much smarter than we think. She looked like she had it rough, but her pups came first, a very noble WOMAN's trait.
There's the reason that dogs are our best friends. Best wishes for happy homes for Vera and her babies.
What a heart warming story on such a sad and hateful day like today.
It's very disappointing that they shelter's workers allowed puppies to be fed by their exhausted mother. Not good for her and, probably, their health.
First you don't know how long it was between those pictures. Second, as Daria B has pointed out shelters are run by professionals. And finally, nursing her puppies is a natural way of bonding that would soothe them all, not to mention that one thing you want to prevent in those situations is the mother's milk from drying up.
