Breeder Abandoned 5-Month-Old Pomeranian Because He Was “Too Big”, They Probably Regret It Now
Dogs may be man’s best friend but this doesn’t mean that man is always friendly towards dogs. Whether it’s dog fighting, abuse or neglect there are some people out there who are pretty cruel to these animals. Bertram the Pomeranian learned this horrible lesson when he was left behind by his breeders because he was ‘too big to sell.’ Luckily for Bert, New York artist Kathy Grayson found him on petfinder and immediately decided to adopt the pup.
Originally listed as “Jasper,” she said there was something about his eyes that caught her attention. “I flew to Tulsa and drove to the town to pick him up, it was a wonderful adventure. The shelter was sad to see him go, he definitely had gotten some special extra love there,” Grayson told Bored Panda.
The gallery owner isn’t the only one who noticed something special about Bert, the internet has fallen in love with the Pomeranian and he now has over 93k followers on Instagram.
In his spare time, he works as an “art connoisseur” in his owner’s gallery The Hole. “I love when people come to the gallery to see Bertie or when they bring their dogs to meet Bertie! The gallery is free and open to the public so come on by and pet him!” said the artist.
When it comes to Bert’s incredible social media success, his owner says she is not surprised, “Bert is a wonderful guy and makes people happy, the internet and social media is built for cute animals, people need an antidote to all the nastiness.”

When Bertram The Pomeranian was only 5 months old, a dog breeder abandoned him
The reason being that the puppy was ‘too big to sell’
His owner Kathy Grayson found him on a pet adoption site and brought him to NY where she owns an art gallery
“Bert is very calm and chill, inquisitive and silly”, Kathy says
Now, Bert helps Kathy in her art gallery as an art connoisseur
“I gave him his own Instagram as he was taking over my art gallery page! I need to post paintings and people just wanted to see Bert”
“I love when people come to the art gallery to see Bertie or when they bring their dogs to meet Bertie!
And even though his life started off a bit rough, he now enjoys living in NY
Bert’s now a social media star, with over 95k followers on Instagram, and Kathy says she’s not surprised
“Bert is a wonderful guy and makes people happy, the Internet and social media are built for cute animals, people need an antidote to all the nastiness”
He recently turned 5 years old and celebrated his birthday in style
And surely has many more happy years to come

Share on FacebookThose breeders are morons and shouldn't be in the business of producing live animals. Bertram is adorable and I'm glad he found a loving home.
People who buy dogs from breeders are morons too. He wouldn’t have thrown him away if his clientele wasn’t so picky.
Load More Replies...I follow Bertram on Instragram and they actually put him in a Paddington costume at one point and he certainly is the spitting image!
Load More Replies...Aw, he's adorable! In a few of the photos he looks like he's singing!! How heartless must you be to leave a little cutie pie like that behind? Not that any animal should be treated like that.
I have a Pom with a similar story--tossed away years ago by a puppy mill breeder. Mine needed years of work to fix the damage done to her mind/body by that inhuman POS. However, I saw her on the Mill Rescue's site and I NEEDED her.
Load More Replies...Thank goodness he was adopted by this lady! People who abandon animals will get what's coming to them.
Most breeders are only in it for the money and could not care less about the welfare of their animals
I LOVE HIM! super cute one.. the breeder dont know the exactly purpose of bert...
I just want to hug that little thing - and am wondering why so many dogs have tongues that just remind me of rose-petals
i love his little boots - just a reminder for non dog owners that the salt in the grit that is more harmful to dogs feet then the snow
Load More Replies...Oh my goodness, he's beautiful. He looks like a bear cub. The photo in the pom pom hat gave me happy tears.
WHO WOULDN'T WANT THAT LITTLE BALL OF AWESOMENESS HE's SOOOOO CUTE!! Aww, my heart's melting (and raging at the breeder) he's just so adorable.
For those who accuses all dog's breeders. Normal professional breeding has nothing to do with puppy farms. The right breeder will never abandon the dog he bred. Even if the dog does not fit the breed standard. Never ever they will give their dogs to the petshops. My close friend is a dog breeder, and seveal time he took back dogs, which were thrown out by their "loving" owners. He healed them and found them forever homes. This all was done with the money from his own pocket. That's because the true dog breeding is a great responsibility and barely a easy money-making activity.
He looks like a mini bear! This is great. He does look quite large for a pomeranian though. Is that what they used to look like before being bred to be small?
He's cute, I'll give you that, but I have two dogs of my own, so sorry, as far as I'm concerned he's not the cutest thing I'll see today.
Breeding dogs for profit is puppy prostitution. I will never understand paying an over inflated price tag for a dog that is "pure" when there are so many unwanted animals already in existence. Adopt, don't shop.
Hi Bertie! Just thought I'd let you know my pom looks just like you, but she's a girl named Maya. She came from a breeder so I consider her a rescue that was among so many Poms that she didn't have any personality at first. But, over time, she even started cuddling and barking! I call her my little hippy dog (free spirit). You little chocolate Poms are sooooo cool. Thanks for speaking out for all dogs and encouraging us to adopt. I'd wish you luck, Bertie, but it looks like you've got it made you adorable fuzzy buddy! If you ever want a photo of Maya, just let me know.

So y'all just gonna think we up and forgot the pics you posted recently from the cat breeder? Which is it, breeders bad or breeders good? I propose a theory: the breeder in this article sucks, the cat breeder you featured recently sucks, and Bored Panda sucks for giving them a place to advertise their wares. And if you think I'm going to forget this hypocrisy for the future, guess again.
God bless you both. I wish everyone was as loving to homeless pets . I wish there was a law preventing breeders, puppy mills and flat out cruel people from getting animals at all. It's sickening the cruelty that most people aren't even aware of . Help an animal in need if you're able. But please do not hoard them. That's actually hurting not helping.
OK, good breeder or backyard breeder? It looks like the case of the second. Also: too big or too old? Too big = bigger than standards of the breed; too old = not many people buy older puppies.
They didn’t deserve him after all.how can anyone give away such a beautiful boy,and he is absolutely adorable. ♥️♥️
They didn’t deserve him.but he’s got all the love in the world 🌍 with you mom.lucky baby.
Breeders aren't bad if they care for the health and welfare of the animals.
Too cute to disown, which motherf***ers would want to get rid of the cute ball of fluff
yet another point against breeders.....until there are no more in shelters and there aren't 4 million animals being put down every year, there is just no excuse. If it were a requirement of dogs to have purebred owners, nobody would own one.
Too big , meaning past cute puppy stage or too big as in not a "teacup"? He looks pretty small to me and he is very handsome too!
pomeranians are one of my fav dog breeds oh my gosh this dog is adorable i don't understand and how anyone could abandon an animal
What the hell did they mean, "too big?!?!" It's more floof to snuggle and love!
i'm so glad someone good so the blessing in this little guy, what a loser that breeder was, all about money, greed, what goes around will someday come back and bite the original bredder in the butt, karma...
Geezus , I think my heart is going to explode. With love , Oh Bert you are one beautiful little guy. 🙈❤️
absolutely adorable! some people just don't see what they've got! their loss!
this dog looks so happy, so cheerful and healthy that the lady who has adopted it must make a lavish eramente fabulous. There is no question if he knew that little puppy was abandoning Bert's ex-mistress. now mum will be a happy woman for many years, I wish you both good luck
Thanks for sharing this lovely story, Bertram's owner. This made me smile. As a dog owner, I'm also especially happy to see pics here where the dogs actually have their nails properly and healthily clipped short. (Too many long-nail dog pics around). He looks like well-cared-for and such a happy lil guy.
I'm sooooooooo in love with this cute fluffy chocolate! I would eat him with kisses!
He looks like a little bear. What an idiotic reason to toss a dog. Incidentally, a big Pomeranian is known as a "throwback," not in the sense of something to discard, but rather a return to the original Spitz.
Luv this and so happy for Bert.....not happy with breeders. There are so many fur babies who need to be adopted.
That picture by the water is the best! "I'm ready for my close up now."
"he internet and social media is built for cute animals" Very true here. But that also counts for real life. People want "cute pets".
And this article just shows again how strict global regulation in breeding any kind of animal is so badly needed. All too often we read about terrible conditions for the animals, scrupulous breeders who are only in it for the money and who breed animals that are so sick and unhealty that they suffer from the day they were born till the day they die. Luckily this lovely dog seems to be healty and having a great life.
He is so damn CUTE! I think my favorite is the one in his little red boots. Put the biggest smile on my face! I'm heading over to Instagram right now to follow this adorable little guy. 🐶❤️😊
I just hope that the owner really IS honest. Sometimes once they reach a certain number of “followers”, they get paid by certain companies.

Omg, those orange booties, and the "singing" like he's the biggest dog in the woods, and those sweet eyes! I'm dyin' here. It's their loss and her fortunate gain. Good all the way around.
He looks like he has human eyes. He is perfection all around.
