Avid hikers Cynthia Bennett and her boyfriend adopted their adorable dog Henry back in 2014. At first Bennett was going to pick a golden retriever mix, but then she came across Henry at an adoption event. He was only 14 weeks old, but already five times bigger than the other puppies of the same age. When she entered Henry’s pen, he just curled up into her lap, went belly up and flipped his head over her arm. That was when she knew he was the one.
“I think we only had him for three days when we took him on our first hike,” Bennett told The Dodo. “He found the steepest, tallest rock around, and he ran up to the top of it to look over the edge.” That’s why they started calling him their “little mountain goat.”
A few months ago the couple decided that they’d like to have another pet in their family. Bennett really wanted a rescue kitten, and after five months of searching the shelters, they finally found a Siamese kitten mix named Baloo. They introduced the cute cat to their dog, and Baloo just fell in love with Henry – all he wanted was to play and snuggle with him. Since then Henry and Baloo became a virtually inseparable pair!
It wasn’t long until the best friends started going on their first trips together. “I get a lot of questions about how we got him used to it and how is it to travel with both a cat and a dog. But he really loves it. He really wants to go outside,” Bennett said. “If I touch Henry’s leash, [Baloo] will start screaming at the door.”
Scroll down to witness the unlikely but absolutely adorable animal friendship and their awesome travel pictures below!

The yawning in the sleepingbag was just adorable, such an adorable little pair!
I love these two but seeing the pic of the dog on the cliff scared me,one slip and gone💔But they are adorable and must love each other and their Mom and Dad.
Where can I order me this cute cat-hat? Or a similar one? Or all cat-hats that exist? Please share your information. My head is feeling a little cat-less and this needs to be fixed asap
First you acquire a cat (these can be found at your local shelter or sometimes under your house). Once the cat itself is acquired you must locate the "off" button (this can take days, weeks, or even years depending on the model of cat you have chosen. The kitten model is going to take much longer than say a 2-3 year old model) usually the "off" button is located under the chin, behind the ear or in very rare situations on the butt right in front of the tail. Once the cat is off you then place it on your head and voila a!!!! Your own personal unique cat hat.
Load More Replies...Doggo looks so NOBLE with a cat on his head! Almost DEFIANTLY noble. Lovelovelove!
Yes Connie Noble is the word for it and defiant ! Dog Warning: don't ever remove my "hat", I love it !!!
Load More Replies...Alatheia. Not as happy as they made me :-) For the first time in my life I have no dog or cat. Being a house-bound invalid, I cannot take a dog for a walk. I could not let a cat outside as it would either get run over, (some here do it intentionally, even driving up on the pavement to get them), or it would be used as "target-practice" by cruel hunters here ! Not all Cypriots are cruel to animals but many are.
Load More Replies...These two are such adorable friends. Thank you so much for sharing! Delightful.
Wonderful pics of your buddies but I think the kittie may be a rag doll , often mistaken for a Siamese!
I am a homebody and get stressed out by travel, so I love to see the pictures from people who have a deep wanderlust that leads the all over the world. These are so amazing. I love the contentment and the ease of being that comes through in them.
omg the one of them spooning in the sleeping bag is the cutest!! <3
The cat reminds me of my snow-leopard bengal domestic cat. They are so beautiful. All of them. Lovely.
Schitterende foto's! Nog nooit zulke prachtige foto's gezien...en wat heerlijk om met je dieren zo op reis te gaan.
If I had a guess, I would say that Henry is a St Bernard mix of some sort. I have a Saint now and grew up with 3 at different times. That's why he's so mellow. Fabulous photos! All are great but the one with Baloo and the waterfall is epic!

My God, what wonderful pictures!!! And as I am looking at them, my dog looks over my laptop with soulful eyes wanting a walk. Sorry, dog, I can just offer you a soggy November walk in Berlin and not the Rocky Mountains. But, hey-ho, we can't all have a magical life. :-)
You are very lucky to have two such wonderful pets :-) Although Siamese cats, even a strong influenced one, are not the easiest of animals, yours is very sweet natured and I love it :-) Your dog and cat photos are super !
How do you train kitty to hike on a leash and what age do you have to start?
It is actually not hard at all! You can start at any age! Get a harness and NOT the net or pull over head kind. You want one the resembles a small dog harness. Let your cat get used to wearing it in the house.... yadayada..

OMG how cute is that rescue animals are incredible. We have a bunch in our family and they are all amazing
Just absolutely wonderful friends they are ?! I really think that pets should always have another animal as a partner !
I really loved going through your blog. I also found your posts very interesting. In fact, after going through all the images, I had to go show it to my friend and he enjoyed it as well! I also blog on https://tournbike.com/ do visit.

Nice. But I have a cat identical to Baloo, and I walk with him without a leash. No collar is necessary, no matter where you are, he's always by my side.
beautigful pictures. Love to see your cat and dog getting along so well. Hope you all have more adventures to come.xxx
The pics are truly awesome! I am nervously thinking this kitty will get lost out there. I hope it's parent will take extra care.
A terrific photo shoot. Customized critter sleeping bags, customized critter backpacks (full of dog and cat food, no doubt.) My only question is why does the cat wear a harness? To keep it from getting lost?
well, it's pretty nice to have them together, but why would they let the dog go out on that rock with no leash or anything to protect it from falling? We were just at Grand Canyon and it scared me just seeing that rock and the fact that it was available for anyone to go out there.
Almost as wonderful as these pictures and the story is the comments section. I read down a ways and saw nothing but pleasantness! Can't even remember the last time I saw a comments section that didn't make me sorry I read it.
Those photographs of your beautiful pets were so amazing, a good idea for ⛺️
You have two great , lovable traveling companions :-) gorgeous pictures! What camera did you use?
some of the best photos of this type i have ever seen !..what lucky animals those 2 are. having owners like these,,so depressing when seeing so many pics / reports of cruelty .great to see 2 healthy happy animals living such a fun filled life !..:)
I don't think the dog likes the cat to be on his head. He just puts up with it because of the humans.
That is just the best thing ever! Our little babies get along, but not as good as these two!
We had a cat who lived for 27 years and he looked JUST LIKE THAT CAT. His name was Henry. Weird, right?
I totally and absolutely adored this video! I have never seen such compatability in any other post! Gorgeous and interesting photography!
My cat is Baloo's doppelganger...can't express the love in these pix. Thank you for sharing
Photos are full of love and life...... No envy, I hate camping but my heart was touched many times looking upon these photos. Wonderful selection!
I totally understand this; my Pitt bull was a puppy when he moved in with us, and we have a chihuahua who's had litters. She saw him, and just started grooming him, as if this thing 10 times her size was her only responsibility at the moment. He sat down obediently like, "Yes, ma'am." She still tells him what for, as if she was his mama! She also grooms the newborn kitten I saved, well now they groom eachother. Licking-fests...
This is perfection. This has inspired me, although I don't have a cat to go with my medium sized rescue dog, I do have a hilarious, smart , adventurous rescue mini poodle. Gorgeous story and pictures.
Love how this site doesn’t do the “one page-one picture” click-bate function. I don’t look at those. Here I’ll click on one of your advertisers just to help keep your pages viewer friendly.
I love the entire photo essay almost as much as the number of people who've viewed it! How wonderful!
these are so sweet, makes me sad that some humans can't get along that well.
What a lovely story, the pictures are amazing. These are 2 very lucky animals, and the parents are very special people.🐾🐾
great pictures! would be great on the front of a card with a caption. Like a Hallmark card. The photographer should think about it.
Really quite amazing and the best traveling buddies you could ever with to have. xxoo
What a wonderful story! Please start a travel log with your whole tribe!
I can't figure out if the cat is wearing the dog or the dog is wearing the cat.
This is amazing photography. I love the friendship between the dog and cat. So cute. Good stuff!
Amazingly beautiful and tender! There is real love there and a wonderful eye for the right image!👍🏽🐾🐾😻🧗🏽♂️📸👏🏽
Cynthia is a very special person and so are her animal friends. I am deeply touched by the beautiful souls they all have and how they love each other. It shows me that there is still so much good in this world.
They are adorable. Such wonderful pictures. When I first saw the dog with the cat on top of his head, I thought it was a cap but I looked again and just had to laugh. Enjoyed this very much. Thanks for sharing.
Made my day!! The love and togetherness shines through all these pictures, thankyou for sharing your joy xx
I would be terrified every day that something would happen to one of them. Wild animals, sheer cliff drops, bird of prey taking the cat. Best I stay home in my room.
Great photo's. I notice they do keep a harness on kitty which is smart.

memories and tears. your photos brought back precious moments in my life
Now this story is absolutely AMAZING...Love our furbabies...So adorable
Many Siamese make great family adventurers and are quite daring. Ours was. Baloo looks like a 'tabby point' (which is actually a cross to try and set tabby markings on the color points of a Siamese.) They are also very talkative. And they don't stand back from a good fight. Some really excellent photos.
What a surprise! The tumbnail of this article, i tjought this boy is wearing hoodie, a cat hoodie!
I have leash trained 3 cats in my life so far! It's easy. My current little love Kitty, goes on walks through the neighborhood with me and I know he is safe. :)

that is just amazing and to think that we protect our fur balls because we are scared they will get hurt ,cats we over protect. just goes to show they all love adventure.
I'm in love with this. I adore the animals bond and I adore these people dedication to outdoor winter activities
I REALLY dont think its appropriate for him to be wearing a cat-skin hat like that! Tch, tch, tch...
gorgeous photos and photogenic companions. Henry looks so gentle - lucky you two & Baloo.
sweet animals. I am so scared for them though, being so close to the edge of some of those cliffs. please be safe!
Tonya, farm animals (cows, goats, chickens, etc) ALSO have feelings, express emotion & want to love & be loved. NONE of them should be eaten
