Hilarious Guide To Dog Breeds That Will Help You Choose Your Next Dog
There are so many dog breeds, it's incredibly easy to mistake one pooch for another. Luckily, St. Louis-based artist Grace Gogarty (a.k.a. Little Tunny) has created a comprehensive comic series that will help you identify most of the dog types.
"I've been drawing comics since I was a kid," Grace told Bored Panda. "I absolutely love animals, so that's usually my focus! I worked as a supervisor at a doggy daycare for years and got to meet lots of dogs. The cartoon dogs featured in this guide are the breeds I met the most of."
The artist has divided the series into three parts - big, medium, and small dog breeds, so no k9s are left behind. Great Danes? Check. Border Collies, Yorkshire Terriers? Yep. Pugs, Golden Retrievers, and German Shepherds? Yup. "Sadly, I haven't met every dog in the word yet so that I couldn't write about them all," Grace said. "Although I stereotype them, all dogs are wonderful individuals, so I couldn't possibly pick a favorite breed!"
Among the animals Gogarty owns, there's one pooch as well. "His Name is Huey, and he is an enigma. We have no idea what kind of breeds he's comprised of!" Scroll down to meet the dog memes, and remember - even if some traits sound better than others, every dog deserves a to be a pet. Even if it pees all over your new rug.

I always feel sorry for huskies who are adopted by lazy people. They should get a lazy dog or a goldfish.
Labs are great! They are smart, and loyal,....if you can keep them at home. They're Big-Time roamers. Unfortunately, they don't do all that well in the house. My black Lab, 'Captain Black' had a lethal tail, which was always sweeping back and forth. Unfortunately, he could clear a coffee table in a matter of just a few seconds. The Captain was the main reason why I happily switched from red wine to white wine. Oh, and the Captain sure could fart up a storm too. :D
2 Dobermans used to bark furiously at me every morning as I walked to school bus. One morning I spoke to them. Then on, our routine was they would wait for me eagerly every morning, and I would stop and talk to them. They were happy to see me.
Nonono german Shepards are just floofy boofs, and squishy boopers
The Yorkshire terrier will also show its affection by nipping your ankles. They have teeth sharp enough to draw blood at every nip. (Don't tell me that I should break them of that habit, please -- they're not my dogs but a friend's.)
Still miss ours. He was awesome. Never really had to train him and he listened perfectly. Would just walk near you and come when called. Kinda obsessed about bananas and would do anything for 1. (Stole a whole bunch of the table once... Silly dog) He hated water so when it was bath time, I would just get in the shower with him and close the door. He loved getting brushed and groomed though.
Also Food machine, also needs unlimited times of trecking unless it's hot.
The border collie needs to have work to do or it will be neurotic. If you don't have time to spend training your dog, get something less intelligent. Sometimes a border collie will herd your kids to keep them from getting separated from you.
Tsundere lol that actually sums it up pretty well. Mine sometimes wants to be pet hard and long, but mostly she'll lay down somewhere close and love you from a distance - just don't touch her or she'll leave.
"BorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBorkBork"
You're thinking about akitas. Shibas (mostly) like petting. Akitas are like "no way, dude" as they slip just out of your reach. Not fan of strangers.
I've come to know boxers as social dogs that love to play and hug...
Endless barker, always cold, always hungry, lives in its own world.
In my seventy plus years, I have always been a dog lover/owner. Big dogs, medium dogs, and small ones. But when I got my first shih-tzu I've never looked back since. They're very energetic, love kids, easy to hold, and the most expensive part to them is the grooming every 6-7 weeks. They don't eat a lot, and best of all, they don't leave big piles that need cleaning up. Oh, and they look like hairy little children, in need of affection. I love my CharlieK. Period!
Very cute. But you missed Chow Chow, my favorite breed. Probably beacause I also like cats =]
I LOVE my four-legged children! They never demand anything but love and affection, which they return with interest. And they will love you, no matter who, or what, you are. 00-Yep-5a8...9e0ffb.gif
lucky for you! mine demands the food right out of your mouth. no, not that food, that ones gross. the one that's in your mouth right now. no no once you take it out of your mouth it's not the one in your mouth anymore!! can i eat it directly from your mouth? no? why not!!!

BEAGLE- *LET ME SING YOU THE SONG OF MY PEOPLE! *Farts and is proud of it *Every brain cell devoted to the finding of edibles *Have you heard the song of my people yet? 26169297_1...6753ae.jpg

They forgot a few: Beagles -loving and lovable -bad singers -a stomach with four feet Pointer: -like to "find" things, particularly what you thought you hid well - more hair than Beyoncé's wig room -can run for *days* Schnauzers: -more stubborn than dachshunds - smarter than they act Dalmatian: -laid back, friendly, family dog OR -spastic guard dog NOTHING in between

Hey what about Chow Chows?!?
Rat Terrier: "You belong to me and only me" "Plus, I'm super cute!"
Yes! My dad has a Jack Russell Terrier and he's very similar to a rat terrier. He's extremely possessive of Dad to the point where we have to lock him downstairs when the grandkids come over, otherwise he attacks them!
LOL I read that as you lock Dad away when the dog comes over. My bad.
LOL They're like "Every breath you take I'll be watching you", but their loyalty and devotion is unquestionable. I love the Terrier breeds!
Very cute so many so spot on. What about Australian Cattle Dogs? Don't they rate?
They're a lot like a Border Collie

NO miniature pincher??? They are the kings of the toy breed and they show it! They do all the barking, the whining, and prancing in the kingdom! Plus they will either bit you or lick you to death!!
you are missing pomeranian :(
Absolutely loved this! Please add more breeds
Loved the descriptions, but I learned more about each breed from the comments then the drawings. I loved reading everyone's stories about their dogs, sooooo funny! My family has had a few dogs over the years, different breeds, and some were on this list, and the descriptions fit. More so the descriptions from the comments, but some from the list too.
Furry Kids are the best kind, wish I could have some again but living up on the 4th floor makes it just a bit difficult*sigh*
Needs Collies and Kelpies added to the list.
How about the Brittany? "I will never let you leave", and "You have not yet met my minimum petting requirement".
No Collies or Shar-Peis? :(

Buried my last cat 2 yrs. ago and new landlord says no more animals in the building. :( I miss having the companionship even though she was a bit demanding. Actually, not so much demanding as just climbing into my lap and helping herself to whatever I was eating. lol.. I still remember getting up to get a glass of milk from the fridge and coming back to find she had snagged the entire T-bone off my plate and stalked off with it.
Chow-Chow: -Dude... Leave me alone... Let me sleep... -*leash is grabbed* Outside!? WE're gonna go outside!? YESSSSS! *runs around, waking up downstairs neighbors and ripping carpet apart* -A sound! It came from the door! Must push my head against it and huff! -Oh, you wanna rob us? Go right ahead... You want to leave now!? Heh, go ahead and try it, pal. -YOU LEFT ME HERE ALL ALONE! I HATE YOU! I LOVE YOU! I HATE YOU! I LOVE YOU!... I'm tired... -otherwise enchanted cocoa puff

My experience with a rottweiler is "looks like a tough guard dog but most people can out run them..." The one that we were taking care of with our two dogs (one a chow mix and the other a black lab/shepherd mix) could never keep up with the other two dogs nor our neighbor's dogs. He was always left in their dust.

Dachsund:. Wind up barker toy. Will stare you down until beady eyes melt your heart for a taste of whatever you're eating. Lives to trip you. Underdog? No. UNDERFOOT. Pee outside? Goodness no. I might get my feet wet. But if yours get wet stepping in my puddle, that's cool. Where's Daddy and when's snuggle time? Clean up my pee and feed me, then you're going to snuggle me. Hit repeat and do it all again tomorrow.

In the intro text: "every dog deserves a pet" Huh?
In that context a pet is a pat as in a scratch behind the ears. Forever. Don't stop. Ever lol
Is it really so common to find all these pure breed dogs in shelters in the US? Here in Brazil you'll pretty much only ever find mutts in shelters - breed dogs are too expensive, only occasionally you'll see someone donate one, regardless of age or conditions - but whenever I see these posts, people will always talk about having a bunch of breed rescue dogs.
Rafaella, approximately 25% of the dogs in shelters are pure breed dogs. Lots of folks adopt dogs not understanding how much time and commitment they require and those pups end up in shelters. I work in rescue and we have SO MANY pure breed dogs it's crazy! There are even rescues all over the country that are breed specific so they can offer the appropriate care for specific breeds - so Labradors, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Grayhounds, Bulldogs, and tons of others have whole rescue organizations dedicated to rescuing and finding homes for specific breeds. We have lots of mutts too, but there are pure breeds everywhere. Pretty odd, huh?
