There are so many dog breeds, it's incredibly easy to mistake one pooch for another. Luckily, St. Louis-based artist Grace Gogarty (a.k.a. Little Tunny) has created a comprehensive comic series that will help you identify most of the dog types.

"I've been drawing comics since I was a kid," Grace told Bored Panda. "I absolutely love animals, so that's usually my focus! I worked as a supervisor at a doggy daycare for years and got to meet lots of dogs. The cartoon dogs featured in this guide are the breeds I met the most of."

The artist has divided the series into three parts - big, medium, and small dog breeds, so no k9s are left behind. Great Danes? Check. Border Collies, Yorkshire Terriers? Yep. Pugs, Golden Retrievers, and German Shepherds? Yup. "Sadly, I haven't met every dog in the word yet so that I couldn't write about them all," Grace said. "Although I stereotype them, all dogs are wonderful individuals, so I couldn't possibly pick a favorite breed!"

Among the animals Gogarty owns, there's one pooch as well. "His Name is Huey, and he is an enigma. We have no idea what kind of breeds he's comprised of!" Scroll down to meet the dog memes, and remember - even if some traits sound better than others, every dog deserves a to be a pet. Even if it pees all over your new rug.

I always feel sorry for huskies who are adopted by lazy people. They should get a lazy dog or a goldfish.

Labs are great! They are smart, and loyal,....if you can keep them at home. They're Big-Time roamers. Unfortunately, they don't do all that well in the house. My black Lab, 'Captain Black' had a lethal tail, which was always sweeping back and forth. Unfortunately, he could clear a coffee table in a matter of just a few seconds. The Captain was the main reason why I happily switched from red wine to white wine. Oh, and the Captain sure could fart up a storm too. :D

2 Dobermans used to bark furiously at me every morning as I walked to school bus. One morning I spoke to them. Then on, our routine was they would wait for me eagerly every morning, and I would stop and talk to them. They were happy to see me.

My dobie and the one I grew up (my little sister, lol) with were both 85 lb lapdogs. They were sweet as pie to us and everyone welcomed into our homes. But the moment any family member felt uncomfortable with a person or if anyone came into the yard uninvited, they became DOBERMANS right out of your worst nightmare. Never bit anyone, but each would run up to the problem or get between us and the problem. Ears up, hackles up, teeth bared with the “I am going to rip your face off” bark and attitude that would scare anyone to death. They were wonderful dogs.

I have been lucky to live with many Dobies throughout my life. Your sketch made me smile. They are also the ultimate velcro dog :-) fullsizeou...b-jpeg.jpg fullsizeoutput_efc-5a8c8331bf8fb-jpeg.jpg

I've had five. All 100% velcro. The most affectionate people-oriented breed I've known.

My Doberman Ace was the sweetest, friendliest dog ever. He only growled at one person that I can remember, some traveling salesman that gave my mom a weird vibe. Ace would let babies crawl all over him and play with his ears and feet. He never bit us and was a 'puppy' long into his golden years. I miss you, Ace.

I have a very sweet Doberman. She has a lot of energy. She gets along with my cat and other dogs but will pick on my tiny dogs sometimes. She would never hurt them but likes to bat them on the head occasionally.

I was attacked by a female Chocolate Dobie when I was 7ish (1970 for reference). She broke out of her kennel and raced across the street, where I happened to be standing on my friends' porch. The dog grabbed me by the knee and shook me like a rag doll. I was absolutely terrified. A neighbor guy fought off the dog and carried me home to my parents. I was later told (after 13 anti-rabies injections) that the "Neighbor Guy" went back and shot the dog. She had been extremely traumatized by recent fireworks ( and again "apparently", had freaked out by the sounds, but some a*****e kids had thrown firecrackers into her enclosure, and she had eaten the powder-laden paper) and she had recently had a litter if pups, which were taken from her just before.

I’m sorry you had a traumatic experience as a child it can scar some people for life. Large dogs are the biggest sucks out there if they cared for with love and affection,. Dogs who are aggressive become aggressive because of bad and aggressive pet owners or if they are backed into a corner,. Can’t blame them who likes being backed into a corner!! My parents got a 1 year old Dobie when I was a few months and she was amazing. She was never leashed outside and went wherever I did and all the neighbourhood kids loved her and she loved them so much so that unfortunately one day when she was outside with my mom a couple kids across the street called her over and she went running like always and sadly she nor the kids saw the car coming down the street and was hit and hurt very badly and had to be but down. Everyone in the neighbourhood were very upset, she was loved by everyone. All dogs can be gentle and very loving if raised right. I’ll never forget her.

Lol my sister had a doberman who was scared to death of my cat. In her defense, even our neighbor's pit bulls were scared of her. She was a badass cat.

That's not true ! Who wrote it? I bet that person has never had or saw a Dobermann in his/her life. They are gentle, but only to their family and their friends. Because trust me, you would not want to meet them with its owner in a dark... They were used during WWII by Germans,,, and do you know why? No? Then maybe you should take some history lessons on the Internet. But you can bet they weren't scared of anything. Because of their "role" in WWII people hated them later, they were scared of them, they knew you shouldn't mess with them. These dogs are not for fun, they are not your sleeping buddies. And believe me, if you know how to properly raise them and train them, you don't need a gun to protect yourself..... And one more thing: if you see a Dobermann who is scared of himself you know his owner doesn't have what it takes to raise him and you can bet he doesn't treat him well and he is hurting him. _FACT_ I know, I have them my whole life.

I'm sure it boils down to bloodlines, the dogs used by the military and by law enforcement agencies are purebred, registered dogs with the papers to prove it. And their cost reflected how good the bloodline was. Now-a-days people sell non-registered, no papered, pups for several hundred or more dollars, these dogs have no bloodline to speak of and not even necessarily 'purebred'. Many/most probably couldn't even be trained half as good as the military or SWAT dogs. And that's what people are buying from ads on Kijiji or other websites. The same applies to the other working dogs 'German Shepherds, Rottweiler's, etc.

My dog loves to play with the rottweiler mix down the street. He looks like a purebreed, like no sign of the dalmation or the mastiff in him. Everytime he sees our dog he jumps up and down like a little puppy.

The Yorkshire terrier will also show its affection by nipping your ankles. They have teeth sharp enough to draw blood at every nip. (Don't tell me that I should break them of that habit, please -- they're not my dogs but a friend's.)

Still miss ours. He was awesome. Never really had to train him and he listened perfectly. Would just walk near you and come when called. Kinda obsessed about bananas and would do anything for 1. (Stole a whole bunch of the table once... Silly dog) He hated water so when it was bath time, I would just get in the shower with him and close the door. He loved getting brushed and groomed though.

The border collie needs to have work to do or it will be neurotic. If you don't have time to spend training your dog, get something less intelligent. Sometimes a border collie will herd your kids to keep them from getting separated from you.

Just adopted an old man doxie with no teeth. Jef is right, he will eat rabbit poops, frozen bread in the yard for the birds, anything off the floor. He doesn't look to see what it is, he just gulps it down.

In my seventy plus years, I have always been a dog lover/owner. Big dogs, medium dogs, and small ones. But when I got my first shih-tzu I've never looked back since. They're very energetic, love kids, easy to hold, and the most expensive part to them is the grooming every 6-7 weeks. They don't eat a lot, and best of all, they don't leave big piles that need cleaning up. Oh, and they look like hairy little children, in need of affection. I love my CharlieK. Period!
