Nobody wants to face the public wrath of the internet but anti-vaxxers experience this daily as people continue to troll them, however, you know what's even worse than getting challenged by someone you don't know online - someone online with a medical degree. That's right according to data analysis from CNN measles cases in the United States have surpassed the highest number on record since the disease was declared eliminated nationwide in 2000.
Doctors are employing all strategies to fight the disease from using electronic medical records to identify unvaccinated patients living in outbreak zones to refusing to accept patients who haven't been vaccinated - and now they have taken the fight to Twitter. Sure some of these savage tweets are funny, but believe it or not, fighting misinformation on the internet is vitally important, even when it's done in a simple tweet. That's the kind of language that everyone should use to these incredible blockheads that refuse to have their offspring vaccinated.
Measles became a nationally notifiable disease in the United States in 1912, meaning that health care providers and laboratories were required to report diagnosed cases. During the first decade of reporting, an average of about 6,000 measles-related deaths were reported annually.
In the 1950s, researchers found a way to isolate the measles virus in a patient's blood, and in the 1960s, they were successful in transforming the isolated virus into a vaccine. The vaccine was licensed and became part of the measles vaccination program, introduced in 1963.
Before the introduction of the measles vaccination program, according to the CDC, there was an estimated 3 to 4 million people getting infected with the disease yearly nationwide. Following this program the numbers of cases and deals from measles substantially dropped. In 1994 there were 963 reported cases, which fell to 508 cases in 1996.
Jump forward to 2000, when the disease was declared eliminated in the U.S and there were only 86 reported cases. This meant there had been no continuous transmission of the disease for over 12 months. These numbers only continued to plummet until a resurgence in 2014 where the country experienced 23 separate outbreaks, which occurred primarily among the unvaccinated Amish community.
In 2018 the U.S saw 17 separate outbreaks and the numbers continue to climb. According to the CDC, the disease was largely imported and spread among unvaccinated pockets: "Eighty-two people brought measles to the U.S. from other countries in 2018. This is the greatest number of imported cases since measles was eliminated from the U.S. in 2000."

My partner and I have 33 years between us. We had our son vax'd not after birth, but when he turned one. He and I had been through a traumatic c-section, and we thought we'd wait. My partner has experienced knowing first hand, friends who grew up with with polio, and the horrible outcome for them. My uncle dies at 2 & 1/2 from tetanus. I have a daughter who was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, BEFORE she had any vaccinations. I also have another dx'd ASD who was vaccinated early. I suppose having an ASD mother (me) was the actual contribution. My younger two children have no issues, except one is a brilliant animator, and the other loves to sing, dance, and sweet talk the girls (he's 6). Vaccinations have only help guard them. No causation of anything harmful. I still don't "get" parents who continue to find the most absurd un-founded internet waffle and believe it to be better than keeping their progeny alive to fulfill their own dreams and lives.

I’ve never known anyone with measles or mumps so why take vaccines even if they’re safe? Ticks carry real disease it’s why I get frontline between my shoulder blades
People don’t get measles or mumps because of vaccines. Because we’ve been inoculated and have built up an immunity. Because the general population of the western world has been protected. But now people are deciding it’s unnecessary, and people are actually getting measles. And dying. Children are dying. Babies. Cancer patients get sick from it. Get your vaccinations, and you probably won’t get measles or mumps. And if you DO get it, it’ll be milder. You’ll combat it better. Your immune system will know how to fight it off. Actress Gene Tierney gave birth to a deaf, partially blind baby with severe mental disabilities in the 40's due to being infected with rubella by a fan during her pregnancy. In the book, the character inspired by her is driven to murder when she finds out about who the fan is. Sorry for spoiling the story for those who haven't read it, but I'd say better spoiling a book and still being informed about *real* tragedies that happened less than a century ago.

I am one of the 20% of people who the whooping cough vaccine does not work for. My mother vaccinated me and I got it 3 times. Also I got measles at 7 months old. If other assholes would give the weaker of us herd immunity it would be great. Also I now as an adult have a child with an autoimmune disease which leaves her more vulnerable again hers immunity would be nice. My own health and daughters has suffered as a result of others not vaccinating
Yeah, I had measles when i was a kid. Because it was a long time ago, and they started to vaccinate peoplr here just after it ran thru my family. Let me tell you, it was no fun neither to me nor any other kid in the family. And yes. We all got it. It ran kind crazy thru the school where my older sister was.
ANOTHER QUESTION TO ALL ANTI-VAXXERS: If you have both pets and children, how come you have a problem vaccinating your children against diseases and not have a problem with vaccinating your cat/dog/horse (seeing as how many of these vaccines are mandatory when you own a pet)? My husband was diagnosed with hpv throat cancer. He went through utter hell. Chemo once a week and radiation every day. He dropped to 132 lbs. Blood transfusions, 7 days in the hospital for an infection he got from no immune system. Vomiting all day unable to eat. In remission he has perminent damage to his throat makes swallowing food difficult, salivary glands damaged so has severe dry mouth which makes eating even harder. Taste buds damaged. Not the same mentally. Yes he is 5 years out in remission and praise God he is still here. DO YOU THINK HE WOULD LET HIS OWN SON FOREGO HPV VACCINATION? Anyone who would sentence their child to that should go to jail for child abuse. Freaking Evil.
At some point an at Iskander child is going to die, and the will be a direct obvious link with an un vaxxed child. What would be the legal consequences of that? Hopefully prison time for the parents. Would love to see the idiot "Dr" who started this mess serve time as well

There IS one rational argument for not vaccinating. That is that there are too many people in the world. It used to be that many children died before the age of 5. (That is where the myth came from that people were "old" in their 30s...the average age was skewed way down due to children dying of "childhood" diseases.) If anyone argues against vaccinating for any other reason than that they actually want lots of children to die to reduce population, then they are idiots. Not that I think it's a good argument for not vaccinating, but is the only rational argument I can think of.

I've been saying for the last several years that vaccination is a public health matter. It should be legislated and enforced. With the stiffest of penalties for non-compliance, (children taken away from idiot, neglectful parents). The only exception being medical reasons. This should supersede all beliefs. Anyone who tries to argue against this should be reminded that you can't yell "FIRE!" in a crowded theatre.
One follow up: Any doctor who goes against the legislation should lose their licenses, and face even larger financial penalties.

Has anybody ever wondered why measles, a common childhood affliction, is now considered a major disease that needs to be vaccinated? Today, an "epidemic" of several hundred people out of a population over 350,000,000 is considered an excuse to force parents and children to receive unnecessary shots for something that virtually all kids got in the past and survived. Start thinking, Sheeple and look behind the curtain.
Most of us (if not all) were vaccinated against measles as children. Even those who did get sick, it was a mild form, less dangerous. And lots survive today too, but what about those who don't? There was also the herd immunity for those too young or unable to get vaccinated, which is starting to disappear nowadays...

Has anybody ever wondered why measles, a common childhood affliction, is now considered a major disease that needs to be vaccinated? Today, an "epidemic" of several hundred people out of a population over 350,000,000 is considered an excuse to force parents and children to receive unnecessary shots for something that virtually all kids got in the past and survived. Start thinking, Sheeple and look behind the curtain.
Most of us (if not all) were vaccinated against measles as children. Even those who did get sick, it was a mild form, less dangerous. And lots survive today too, but what about those who don't? There was also the herd immunity for those too young or unable to get vaccinated, which is starting to disappear nowadays...
My brother was immunized against chicken pox as a baby. He got it, but it was mild. If he hadn’t received the vaccine, he’d be scarred. Maybe even dead.
