Doctor Trying To Save Covid-19 Patients Is Baffled By Them Trying To Claim Their Diagnosis Is Fake
It seems like news about COVID-19 is all we hear these days and that’s, frankly, understandable. This global pandemic is affecting everyone’s lives in negative ways, so it’s hard to forget about it. At first, all the news focused on the spread, the symptoms, and the effects of this horrible illness that has claimed 333,032 lives as of May 22, 2020. However, as the virus has moved across the world, another beast has emerged—conspiracy theories.
The dangerous concept that the virus is only a hoax initially seemed like a joke or something that anti-vax groups would share on their Facebook group pages. However, unfortunately, the idea gained followers and started spreading, prompting people to avoid using protection and endangering not only themselves, but others as well.
Doctor Ryan Marino recently took to Twitter to share his experience of coming face-to-face with one of the people who genuinely believes that the virus is a hoax. The worst part is, perhaps, that the person was his patient. That had COVID-19. Understandably, the doctor expressed his frustrations and people joined in on the discussion.

Blocking ambulances going to the hospital? The hell? Surely that's illegal. It doesn't matter what these people think regarding saving their own lives, but preventing others from getting care, and not adhering to measures that keeps their fellow citizens around them safe, that's just obscene. Whether these deniers like it or not, they live in a society. This nonsense needs to stop. The selfishness is just growing out of control.

Here in LA, people keep bitching about having to wear masks and how it's just the flu etc... I'm at the point where I will throat punch anyone that comes within 6 feet without a mask. The whole "my body, my choice" regarding wearing masks is also beyond ridiculous. When I worked as an HIV Case Manager, I was assigned a new client who refused to believe she had the virus. This is when retroviral meds were already in existence. 20+ years later I'm still filled with sorrow. She refused meds and treatment and died alone. The stigma around the illness was the main reason she refused to accept her diagnosis. I wish I couldn't feel the same compassion I felt for her when it comes to this COVID patient. I just can't. I still feel sorrow and compassion towards him. I just hope he opens his eyes and heart to the truth and if he recovers, that he uses his voice to let others know this virus is real.

I was in the mental health unit in the hospital and one patient was constantly making prejudiced remarks about the other people on the floor (even though she was there with us). I found out why when her brothers came to visit her and sat far away from all of us (wouldn't answer my pleasant greeting) and made remarks about all of us. The stigma against mental illness is a killer, too: people won't take meds that would help them because they don't want to have the illness.

A culture that encourages - or even tolerates - such insanity is a maladaptive, failed culture. A society where the uninformed, misinformed, or in-denial are allowed to make up their own rules and then demand that their delusions be respected as "personal choices" - even in the midst of a GLOBAL health crisis - CANNOT endure. If the virus doesn't wipe such a society out, something else will - and soon. We are less "great", and less strong than we have been at any time in recent memory.

They have a point. Unless there's been an actual order given out by the Government, anyone with COVID could sign themselves out of the hospital. They sign the form and leave, possibly infecting a ton more people. The Doctors in the U.S. at least, cannot make them stay against their will UNLESS they are unable to communicate, believed to be mentally incompetent, Etc. Being a Covidiot does not necessarily imply being a mentally incompetent. That's the core issue I'm seeing. Yes, denial can be a huge thing, but the point doesn't change to how can you keep them there against their will if they don't believe the test results. Between that, HIPPA laws, and patient advocates, it can become a major tangle and not just legally. Anyway that's my thought on it.
To be fair - in a psych ward I can hold someone for being a danger to themselves or others for 24-72 hours depending on the state. Would be nice to see that put in place for everyone willfully causing others to get sick

I went to the grocery store yesterday and saw the following written on the back window of a huge SUV. I will paraphrase since I don't remember it exactly and I didn't take a photo. (I wanted to pee and/or vomit on the SUV.) "COVID-19 is just a scary name for the seasonal flu. It's an excuse to prevent us from working while our 401(K)s go to zero."
Look, last week, we had someone insist she had CANCER instead of advanced Covid19 with bloody pleural effusion. Her kids drove her to another hospital about 90 miles away. And last I heard, she's in respiratory ICU, still believes it's cancer, b/c Covid19 is a hoax. Her kids, btw, both agree with their mother. They're both over 40. THE STUPIDS ARE REAL!
All this misinformation going around in the US is the fault of one person. And that person is responsible for a lot of deaths. His ego is too fragile to admit he has no idea WTF he's doing. This is a very dark time for many of us. We have a leader who is actually trying to kill us. Keep wearing the masks. Keep your distance. Don't go to the beach. Don't go to church. If we keep doing the right things, the things that SCIENCE says help, we'll bet the virus and the orange menace.

Not so imaginary reality- My sister in law who was healthy died of organ failure 30 days after her second shot of the vaccine. I got covid and felt terribly ill, no denying it. Literally, 3 hours after taking my first doctor prescribed dose of ivermectin, I was outside gardening I felt so good. This emergency medical physician is seeing people who buy ivermectin from a vet supply. 1.5 million doses of moderne vaccine recalled in Japan for metallic substance.
To the a-hole claiming AIDS and HIV patients denied their diagnoses -- in 35 years I never encountered that with one person -- even women or parents of young children. I did routinely encounter conservative and religious family members who felt ashamed and made ugly assumptions about how their relative became infected.
We have thousands of these nutjobs in my country, protesting away (which is hilarious given that Germany had the mildest lockdown of all countries save Sweden) but at least they don't block hospitals. I think the police would arrest them or blow them off with water cannonons real quick.
