3-Legged Kitten Adopted By Amputee Girl Becomes Her Best Friend

Scarlette Tipton, now two-years-old, had her left arm completely amputated because of cancer when she was 10 months old; Doc, a rescue kitten, had her right paw amputated after an accident involving a car. So on Christmas eve, the Tipton family, from California, went to the shelter. By Wednesday, Doc was part of the family.

“We wanted a little kitten to have [Scarlette] grow up with, so she has something that’s just like her,” mom Simone Tipton told Love Meow. She did notice that Doc had staples on her side and said ‘owies’. I let her know that she had owies just like her, and she placed her hand on her side and just nodded. She recognizes that the cat has similar struggles as she does.”

Never before seen cancer? Talk about terrifying. Medicine isn't that good at treating the cancers we do know about, much less an entirely new form. Best wishes to both child and kitty.

This is actually a cruel story, for people, who took crippled animal, not because they really want to take care of it, but to calm their own pains. It's cruel to overcome your troubles on a helpless creature's back. They woudn't have taken this kitten, if their child was well. However, what happened to the little girl is very sad, I don't wish ti anyone. The best way was, to just let the girl to choose pet, by herself.

Actually, this is anything but cruel. We would have rescued a kitten regardless of our daughters medical condition, because she shows a passion for animals, especially cats. We are not overcoming our troubles with a cat. We've been battling this nightmare for two years, we have already "overcome" everything with her. She's a survivor and nearing the end of her treatments. To say we would be putting our troubles on the back of a cat is ridiculous. She is extremely loved, well cared for, and now has a warm home and children who will love her until the end of her days. Please don't comment your ugly words on our beautiful story. No one would be a better fit for this kitten than we are. We know first hand the struggles she has overcome and the pain she has endured.
