Some things are better left untold, you know. Like the fact that your bed likely has somewhere around 10M dust mites or that humans have enough power to bite off their finger… I mean, if that sounds like a scenario from a science fiction movie, you'd better move your seat closer and tune in to ‘The Facts Guy.’

The TikTok creator Adorian Deck, aka The Facts Guy, has been deliberately ruining people’s days with the viral video series featuring some of the most disturbing facts. The appeal to them is somewhat paradoxical, you don’t wanna know them yet you still can’t look away!

So below we selected some of the most creepy, entertaining, surprising and plain weird ones to get you in the Halloween vibe or simply to understand why some facts often remain untold.

Yeah, but what would the government do? Give them the empty homes and kick them out when someone wanted to buy the house.

The highest incidence of homelessness occurs in cities with large populations where the incomes have not kept pace with the costs of living. NPR has an interesting analysis here https://www.npr.org/sections/money/2021/06/08/1003982733/squalor-behind-the-golden-gate-confronting-californias-homelessness-crisis

Having worked with the homeless population in a major city, I think it's important to realize that this is as much a mental health issue as a housing issue. Something like 80% of the population that shows up at our local soup kitchen struggles with their mental health. You could offer every one of them free housing, and wouldn't solve the homelessness problem. We need robust mental health services for the poor.

This is so sad on so many levels. It is true that some choose to live this way. I housed a group of 4 homeless people. I spent around $1000 to get them set up in a mobile home that I had vacant and bought them all the necessities including power and water, bed linens food etc... they stayed only 3 days and disappeared. They didnt have to pay for anything. Not even rent. They just chose to live on the streets. It broke my heart but, at least I tried.

This isn't just sad, this is outrageous! Poverty isn't always the poors' fault, but often a result of exploitative working conditions, unexpected and guiltlessly acquired obligations - think accidents and resulting medical cost. You can be struck into crippling poverty by someone else doing some wrong, causing an accident in which you are damaged. Also, the outrageousness of inequality doesn't even start there, but this is just one of the most visible and most devastating results of unhinged, unrestricted capitalism. Oh yeah, but FrEeDuMm11111 - I get that this is a point you can opt to not get. Also - these few numbers alone give away that the society in which they occur is a failed one. Effed up big time - and there isn't even ANY upside of this, it's downsides that require further different downsides.

Thus proving that the problem is not that there is insufficient housing. People are homeless for many reasons. Yes, some because they lost their job and couldn't pay the rent and got thrown out into the street. But that's actually a small minority of homeless people. Most homeless people are homeless because they are drug addicts, mentally ill, or simply prefer not to have a home.

I work with a lot of the homeless, unfortunately we have discovered some people cannot be housed, they either choose to live that way or they are destructive and unable to comprehend living in a normal way. Had one guy readmitted after he burned down the apartment building he was housed in. It was his 2nd confirmed arson.

Because we allow Chinese “investors” to buy houses for cash then jack up the prices $300k. Then we make rules that don’t allow tiny homes or houses under 1,200 sq ft. Then we get paid $7.75 an hour with no benefits, so +$1,700 a month in “medical insurance” on that income. … it’s all Rocket science apparently. 😐

of those 17 million homes, most are not live-in-able, and many are only temporarily vacant while on sale, the deduct vacation homes, etc, and all of a sudden you actually have less then 50,000 homes. This is a myth that wont die. As to the homeless, most homeless are as a result of govt policies.

In our city tiny homes were built for homeless people. They completely trashed them. Holes in the doors and walls pissing wherever, when there is a toilet in them. If you've never had to pay for anything, they don't give a rats ass. Tax payers money!

So, if you were to be given a place to live for free, you would trash it? The only thing that is stopping you from acting the exact same way is that you had to "pay your way"? You can relate to their behavior and say "yeah I would totally do that too"? There are plenty of rich kids out there that have mommy and daddy pay for everything, and they don't piss on the floor. MAYBE this has nothing to do with "getting things for free", and more to do with the fact that these people have mental health issues and are incapable of taking care of themselves without support.

Bored Panda reached out to Adorian Deck, the content creator and ‘The Facts Guy’ behind these viral TikTok videos with disturbing facts. It turns out, Adorian is no rookie when it comes to content making on social media, since he has been making YouTube videos for over 10 years and had 100k subscribers before joining TikTok.

“I created a brand called OMGFacts back in 2009 when I was 16 years old that ended up getting 15 million followers across Facebook and Twitter that I later sold and I don't own anymore,” he told us. What’s more, Adorian has always had a love for the most shocking, amazing facts. “I also have been a big TikTok fan for a few years, there's so many creative, talented, authentic people on the platform that I love to watch.”

When it comes to the facts Adorian shares on his platform, he said that there is a lot of information out there, but not all of it is real or interesting. “My audience finds it valuable that I make it very easy to learn the most interesting facts out there,” he said and added that he feels like he now has a lot of experience to know what kind of information is really the most interesting out there.

The facts that get popular are “usually based on taking assumptions they thought about the world and turning them upside down with real statistics and timelines. The most interesting facts are the ones that make us feel something the most. Scared, shocked, amazed, inspired, disgusted. Doesn't matter which emotion as long as it's a strong emotion,” Adorian explained.

Had it for just over one week, was horrible. One of the only good things I felt was when some of the nurses, who were more used to that i guess, would chat to me, and look at my eyes and understand what I was 'pointing' to. My sister had an innate ability to read my eyes and translate. But to be shoved in a corner, ignored, it's mental anguish. People saying 'I know you're still in there' but sounding uncertain was scary, I wanted to scream 'I'm here, don't worry, figure it out and omg I'm thirsty!!'. Getting movement back is like a second chance that I will never take for granted. Even just being with the person can be a great comfort (EDIT: thank you everyone for your kind words)

Sure this happened but it wasn't nearly as common as people keep saying, and all of those "posed corpse" photos you see online are just living people. The stands were there to help them stay upright and in place long enough for the picture to take, since it took bloody forever to take a picture. The only "lifelike" positions actual corpses were photographed in were sleeping/lying down positions.

Common after Waterloo but rapidly left behind - During the 18th century, typical denture materials in Europe and the U.S. included human, animal teeth, and ivory. Just imagine that hundreds of thousands of years in the future, when we are long gone, aliens will visit earth and discover there was once an intelligent species on the planet, as evidenced by the microplastic in everything. Nothing else will have survived, no buildings, nothing, just microplastic. And since that can't form naturally, there must have been a species who made them. What a wonderful legacy... :(

Which can be changed when people know what to do. I have several colleagues who had cardiac arrests outside of hospitals. Fortunately none of them were alone at home, because people around saved their lives.

People tend to think of 'bacteria' as poison, when it's everywhere and on everything and if we tried to eliminate all of it in our life, our immune system would be useless. Think about it, we touch things all the time and we rub our eyes or pick something out of our teeth, but we don't end up in hospital for it.
