Artist Imagines Disney Princesses On 1940’s Mystery Novel Covers, And The Result Is Badass
You're used to seeing Disney princesses in pretty dresses in fairylands far far away. However, thanks to Astor Alexander, a freelance illustrator from San Diego, Califonia, you are about to find out that these fictional ladies look wonderful in a completely different setting, too.
"Noir Princesses" is an awesome illustration series with a pretty self-explanatory title. It features - you've guessed it! - Disney princesses as badass noir characters. It's a "stylish" crime genre, emphasizing cynical attitudes and sexual motivations. Noir fiction protagonists are usually self-destructive, dealing with a corrupt legal, political or other systems. Their stories often lead to lose-lose situations, too.
Astor has perfectly captured the aesthetic and atmosphere of the genre while preserving the distinct personalities of the princesses. Scroll down to meet them and tell us what you think in the comments.
