Living with a disability is no easy task - people can be quite judgemental of one's condition, which adds a fair share on top of other hardships. Also, not all of our surroundings are adapted to the comfort of the disabled. But no matter what kind of lemons life throws at you, it is always best to shun the self-pity and sourness away, greeting problems with a healthy sense of humor. Humor, after all, diminishes the struggles to a size that we can wrap our heads around, thus making it more easily solvable. The kids ones the parents did are are making me tear up! So creative.
Fantastic list. so amazing a mindset, i aspire to be so positive. only shame was the two entrants who hurt their knee and thought that made them disabled......... try being in that wheelchair for 2 years instead of 2 weeks, see what adversity means.

I guess you’ve never heard the term ‘temporary disability’. A lot of acute injuries can knock perfectly ‘abled’ people into worse restrictions than plenty of permanently disabled people. One reason for that is precisely because it’s temporary. Someone is a wheelchair for years has a house, car, and life set up around being in a wheelchair, but if you blow out a one and need a wheelchair for three months, we’ll, you have to manage around a house, car, work/school, and social environment which is fundamentally not set up for a wheelchair. I have a genetic condition. I’m already partially disabled and will become only progressively more so as I age. I say a big thumbs up to people who adjust on the fly to acute injuries that leave them temporarily disabled instead of spending the time bemoaning how horrible it is for them. Those are the people who are truly sympt, helpful, and make great allies for people who have to deal with such crap every day.
