Oh… irony, how sweet you are sometimes. You know how the things we say can come back to haunt us? The test of time is a tough nut to crack, and this time, it’s all about failing. The Facebook page Posts That Did Not Age Well is a hell on earth, showing embarrassing moments when quotes, comments, and everything else you saw online some time ago contradicts itself or completely misses the mark.

There’s aging like fine wine and then there’s aging like milk, and the posts here definitely fall into the latter. Some of these future predictions look so utterly ridiculous today, it may make you wonder what the heck they were thinkin’. From astounding Trump tweets to people who jinxed everything for the rest of us, there’s plenty here that’ll make you feel like dying inside.

So, let’s go down this memory lane together and take a look at everything that has gone wrong lately. If you don’t die from cringe in the meantime, be sure to check out part 1 after.

This is how science works, people. Preliminary findings are overruled when new, better evidence come out. This just shows scientists aren't coerced to toe the official line, as some claim.

They did their job and investigated. The original clutch all came from a small area centred on an animal market and it wasn't until they found cases with no connection to the area that they could be sure it was being transmitted by people rather than animals. This is how science works. It takes time to gather evidence.

I just checked up on this and the WHO press briefing on the 14th did not in fact say there was 'no clear evidence of human-human transmission'. It said their was limited evidence of transmission between family members and they expect it has the potential to become a wider outbreak. I don't know why this tweet should exist, given that message, if indeed it is genuine.

The WHO was stupid and gullible here. The should have gone to Wuhan themselves instead of relying on Chinese information. But the WHO let it happen and thats why the virus has spread every corner of the world.

This doesn't count as "didn't age well". It was preliminary findings

This was misinformation! They already knew by that point but were still buying PPE for themselves.

An inquiry into the corruption at the WHO needs undertaking. ASAP.

At that date they already knew it was a coronavirus, they already knew it came from China like SARS, they already knew there were hundreds of cases in China, they already knew there were cases outside of China...did they expect it to be transmitted by drinking water? The WHO was negligent. Even if there was no peer-reviewed and published paper about the virus they should have acted before under the precautory principle. It seems they haven't learned nothing from past experiences.

There was 1 case outside of china (in Thailand) when this briefing was given, and it had been identified a matter of hours before. The day of this tweet The WHO gave a press briefing warning that based on preliminary findings transmission was possible and this could become a wider outbreak. I don't know why this particular tweet exists, assuming it is genuine.

Oh really, then how are so many people getting it? What else do they need for "clear evidence" besides the fact that when groups get together and mingle w/o protection the cases of Covid-19 go up?

But instead of spreading false information or unsubstantiated info, they should've kept their mouths shut until enough testing had been done to have an accurate hypothesis. That's science too!

WHO has been bought by China. Remember this - https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/30/world/coronavirus-who-masks-recommendation-trnd/index.html (end of March). Meanwhile, China has been hoarding PPE since January.

The WHO should be investigated too, not just China. We should all be following in Trump’s footsteps and defund it.

And by that time they had *already been warned* by Taiwan of human to human transmission, but they ignored it because they are sucking china's d**k and china doesn't want them to acknowledge Taiwan. One WHO official actually HUNG UP on a reporter who asked on a video phone call about Taiwan. He *HUNG UP* rather than acknowledge that Taiwan is a country.

But would they only be able to go on the information that China was making available to them? I don't really understand what the process actually consists of when a country informs them that they have a health concern. Does the country in question just pass the information to them or does the WHO actually go into the country to investigate? Obviously if it's the former then the country may not be entirely honest with the information they provide, but then again even if the WHO do go into the country to investigate what's to stop the country being investigated hiding crucial information! It all depends on the country and their government being transparent with the WHO!

That's how science works, though. Something has to be proven, many times, before it can be accepted. This one is only stupid to people who don't understand how science works or why it works.

let's not forget that;s a new virus and we learn as we go. At the time I believe the experts when they say they had no evidence

And then there was evidence. This is just what happens as situations develop. You might as well complain that a foundation of a house doesn’t look like a house before the house is built.

So sad. The WHO started the whole thing deliberately to create panic and come in with a vaccine. F*****s.

If this were the case, you would have thought they'd have a vaccine first, or chose a virus which is typically treated with a vaccine, unlike a corona virus.

If humans could see the future, this post would probably have not existed. Because there’s nothing quite like failing the test of time. All the things you believed and said look more or less absurd in retrospect. Unless your job is predicting the future for a living.

Mysterious as it sounds, seeing what comes next is complex, critical, and quite a different job than the myths suggest. Paul Saffo, a technology forecaster in Silicon Valley, wrote in a piece for Harvard Business Review that “prediction is concerned with future certainty.” And that alone sounds quite paradoxical.

Paul explains further: “forecasting looks at how hidden currents in the present signal possible changes in direction for companies, societies, or the world at large.” Thus the goal of forecasting is to “identify the full range of possibilities.”

Plus, “unlike a prediction, a forecast must have a logic to it,” says Paul. That means that the forecaster must always be able to articulate, explain, and defend this logic. “That’s what lifts forecasting out of the dark realm of superstition,” argues Paul. In the end, forecasting is “nothing more (nor less) than the systematic and disciplined application of common sense.” And that common sense is something we all have.

It has been 19 years, and my heart still aches every time I see the NYC skyline. For me it has been gone longer than it existed (I was born in the 80s), but the Twin Towers will always be iconic, quintessentially New York.

I read an interview sometime in the recent years with the son of the man who invented plastic bags. He said that, if his father knew that people use a plastic bag once and then immediately throw it away, he would have been horrified and saddened. The reason the man invented plastic bags was specifically so they could be reused over and over again

A lot of people underestimated and still underestimate the dangers of Corona and they think that the media are lying to them. ( Wonder who gave them that idea??). If history repeats itself and people behave like they behaved during the Spanish Flu, there are going to be plenty mass graves all over the world.

I still have a huge (legit) DVD collection. It's one of the most infuriating things having to sit through these 'anti-pirate' adverts that can't be fast-forwarded. That didn't do their cause any good at all, just made me want to buy pirated films instead, which don't have the adverts! Grr...
