Determined to go beyond the stereotype of “Just another dead whale”, I, Tom Potisit, a Thai-born fashion photographer, combined my unique view of the world by using strong imagery and fashion to produce THE LAST FAREWHALE series of shots in tribute to the mystery death of a Bryde’s whale found beached not far from Bangkok this year.

Dutch model, Melanie De Witt, and I set out at short notice in support of the marine animal and coastal conservationists and the volunteers globally, to highlight the never ending war against extinction of many endangered species.

I helped found the Flying Scouts – a voluntary conservation and humanitarian project using a small aircraft to help support animal conservation. I have been volunteering to help with various endangered marine animals Conservation Projects in Thailand since 2007.

The Last Farewhale is an opportunity for all us who care, to say the last goodbye to the whale, to express our grief and show respect for the loss of a magnificent creature.

Dissection has revealed the cause of death was drowning ‘possibly’ in the fishing net.
