Amazing David Bowie Tribute Is Making New Yorkers Use Subway More
Spotify and the Brooklyn Museum came together to create an installation as a tribute to the late musician and fashion David Bowie. New York’s Broadway-Lafayette subway station has been given a makeover and now is covered with huge portraits of Bowie, his quotes, and fan art.
The installation is a part of David Bowie’s current exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. Over 400 objects of the musician’s personal archive are displayed. This includes show costumes, vinyls, photographs, and handwritten lyric sheets.
This installation also features limited edition MetroCards with images of the iconic artist on them and hundreds of people stay in lines to get one.
The subway installation can be viewed until May 13, 2018, and the David Bowie is exhibit will be on display at the Brooklyn Museum until July 15, 2018.

Share on FacebookFYI, the installation is at this particular station because his apartment (and where Iman and their daughter still live) is nearby on Lafayette Street.
Did the one painting across the railings look more the guy who played Dr. House than David Bowie?
I think your comments about Bowie's music are more of a reflection of your age than anything else. David and his music are inseparable from the history of civil rights struggles in the US for women and the LGBT community, as well as others. And for many who fought those battles in the streets, David's music (among others) is constantly in our heads. Indeed his music has lasted, and if you actually speak with people in the music scene today, you will find that Bowie continues to have an influence.
Load More Replies...You're right about him being remembered more as of a personality, but that's what it is because he was a conceptual artist. As for the rest, dear, it's all a matter of your personal taste, and the taste of your circle of people. Now, I can't say I'm a complete fan of Bowie, true, I respect him as an artist. But his space themed songs, oh my! I never turn the music off while they play and I can have never enough of them, and it's so hard not to sing along.
