Best Dad Ever Gives Candies To Plane Passengers, So His Daughter Could Still Trick-Or-Treat On Halloween

One big hearted dad handed out sweets to passengers on a flight, so that his 3-year-old daughter could trick or treat on an airplane. People flying on board the Virgin America from Boston to San Francisco were handed candies and this note: “My 3-year-old daughter, Molly, was bummed that she wouldn’t be able to go trick-or-treating this year due to this flight, so I decided to bring trick-or-treating to her.” The dad also wrote: “If you are willing, when my little donut comes down the aisle, please drop this in her basket. You’ll be making her Halloween!”

Fellow traveler Stephanie Kahan, who is a mum-of-one from Boston, admitted that before the plane took off, she overheard the little girl behind her saying she couldn’t wait to trick or treat in San Francisco. “I was so sad for her because I thought she was planning to trick or treat when we landed, which was midnight in SF, and I knew she was going to be disappointed,” Kahan told HuffPost.

But the dad couldn’t allow his little pumpkin to be upset, and set the little girl for the most unforgettable in-the-air Halloween experience ever! Kahan said her heart was absolutely melted to see a happy girl dressed as a donut, trick-or-treating while walking the aisle. And she wasn’t the only one – the woman’s tweet about the kind dad went viral!

Dad didn’t want his daughter to miss Halloween, so he organized trick-or-treating on an airplane

People flying on board the Virgin America from Boston to San Francisco were handed candies and this note:

Both the little girl and the passengers loved this unforgettable in-the-air Halloween experience!

@ Emma E. - The passengers were not forced to do it, nor did the dad feel that he and his daughter were entitled to the special treatment. Don't be so bitter and let the child have her Halloween fun, they grow up so fast and childhood passes by in a flash, there's only so many years of trick or treating she can do. The dad just wanted to do what he could for his daughter not to miss out because of an unfortunate inconvenience, nobody is obligated to play along.

@Emma E. As much as teaching a child that we do not always get what we want, and that life isn't always fair, is important, so is childhood itself. Nobody was pressured, nobody was hurt, but a little girl had a magical Halloween flight. It's a lovely gesture. I try to teach my children that making other people happy when it causes you no issues should always be tried to be done. It's what makes this world a nicer place. They know not everything will go their way, but they're also kind and generous. Surely being so opposed is more 'me, me, me' than simply handing the sweet back/giving it to the child.

This! This so much! All those people who talk about parents teaching their children about 'real life' forget that children should be at least in part protected and given their childhood. Is that made of dressing up and candies and pretending everything is magic? Heck yeah! No one got hurt and a child was allowed to do what all children do. What is NOT to love about this?

Sweet gesture...but maybe we should let children cope with little disappointments sometimes to help them know how to handle bigger ones? IDK

Maybe... But remember she's only three and doesnt make the trip by her decision, its daddy's. Either way, when she's older may learn how to handle disappoinments.

Oh come on! Don't overthink this, the little girl maybe just took 5 seconds of every passenger, no big deal; the dad did a sweet thing for her little girl, he's not spoling her or giving the whole world to her. I repeat, don't overthink this and apretiate the gesture.

I wonder if any Scrooge didn't participate or kept the candy? I bet anyone around them would have told the rest of the plane. What a loving caring dad. Had this been a 10 year old I wouldn't have been sdsdo touch as a kid that age is old enough to understand things can't always be how they want it but its not always easy to get a three year old to understand. Plus, this would be their first year of really understanding what it is. I'm glad he did it. It shows anything is possible. I've also learned that given a chance, MOST people will help do a good thing.

I'm with Emma E. on this. I get that many of you guys have children and see her comment as "selfish" but it really isn't. Yes, the note says "if you are willing" but the situation says "even if you are not willing, you'll have to put up with this because this is a plane and if the person next to you is willing then you end up being a part of it like it or not." Now, people, please think. Air travel has become one of the most uncomfortable things we put ourselves through. Next time you are on a plane, how would you like to be made to participate in an impromptu birthday party "because today is our 3-year old's birthday and she is bummed because she wouldn't be able to celebrate it otherwise"?

I do not have children, but I understand that the father is just doing his best to ensure that his daughter actually has a Halloween this year. I don't think that just because the person next to you participates means that you're dragged into it whether you like it or not. The father most likely just went down the aisle and if someone does not want to be part of it, it's easy to avert their attention. Most people always have their headphones on when they're on planes anyway. If you look like you don't want to be disturbed, you won't be. The father did not even noisily disturb the passengers to ask them, he passed a note. What this father did is not loud and obnoxious like a birthday party, she is only one 3 year old girl, not a big group of noisy children. If this happened on my flights, I would gladly participate to make the girl's Halloween experience special. It doesn't cost me anything, and takes little effort from me to drop a piece of candy into a little girl's bag.

What do I think?... I think this just shows how much of a "me, me, me" society we have become, doesn't it? When we used to respect other people's privacy and space, it would have been seen as very rude and inconsiderate to subject everyone in a very small and closed space to your desires so that you or your loved one can have it their way. I guess this parent does not believe in teaching his little girl that we don't always get to do what we would like.

F*****g hell who kissed on your bonfire? I prey you don't have children because I'd hate to think that any child were greeted with that attitude everyday. It's not the little girls fault they flew on Halloween, and that this was the dad's way of making it up to her. Also the note and candy clearly wrote "if you don't feel ok with this that's ok. My God, your children will grow with no sense of wonder or joy, you'd probably tell them that Santa isn't really too, or that mummy throws away their baby teeth because she's a cold hearted ice queen
