“They Said He Had A Light Mustache”: School Informs Mom About A “Strange Man” Picking Up Her Daughter Without Realizing It Was Her Without A Wig

Interview

Mistaking people for somebody else is a natural occurrence that pretty much happens all the time. There’s no shame in making such a mistake, unless, however, it is a major mixup. In that case, an apology, as well as being more careful, is probably a good idea. That is especially true if you mistake somebody for an entirely different kind of person.

In today’s story, we are going to have a look at one such occurrence, taken to the extreme. In a nutshell, a woman picking up her daughter from school was mistaken for a “strange man” because she wasn’t wearing her wig. Scroll down for more!

More info: TikTok

This woman received a harrowing phone call from her school, but the situation wasn’t what it seemed to be

A woman went to TikTok to share a story where she was mistaken for a “strange man” by her daughter’s school. She talks about the situation for the whole video, but only reveals that the “strange man” was her in the very last few seconds of the video, leaving audiences in shock.

This woman has been told over the phone by her daughter’s school that a “strange man” has been picking her daughter up after class

The woman was told that a “strange man” had been picking up her daughter from school, and it wasn’t her dad. This in itself is terrifying, which is why it is understandable that the woman’s reaction was so intense.

In an interview with Bored Panda, the woman said that at the time of uploading the video she was having a really bad day. “I’m a stroke and a heart attack survivor so I’ve been going through therapy and it has been really exhausting. And so I looked at myself in the mirror and was just kind of frustrated about my appearance and just felt like I’ve been letting myself go,” she explained.

It turns out that the “strange man” was, in fact, the woman without her wig

The school provided a description of “the man”, which shocked the woman even more. But after they sent a photo over to her, it appears that it was the woman all along, but without her wig.

The woman said she was really surprised to see the video go viral. “At that time I didn’t know what virality was, I didn’t know what it meant. So to see so many millions of people really intrigued and being able to bring them a laugh based on my pain, the feeling was amazing,” she said. The woman was glad that people could find humor out of the situation.

All in all, this story was one peculiar and suspenseful ride. The video went very much viral with 1.4M likes and prompted over 30k commentators to express their surprise at the plot twist in the end. How could she think a man may have been picking up her daughter if she herself had been picking up her daughter?

And shouldn’t the school challenge “him” day one, instead after many times? Or phoning in “oh we have a pic of your child’s abductor, lucky you”!?!

My niece's elementary school lost her TWICE and also a special ed kid once. They didn't alert the police any of the times until it was well past 5. One of the times my niece went missing she was picked up by her paternal grandfather, who was also on the DO NOT PICK UP list. His writing was illegible in the log and they didn't ask for ID so he could have been anyone. Her dad picked her up the second time, didn't sign her out, and his phone either died or ran out of minutes. These events happened before and after the special needs kid. They had wondered into the corn field next to the school and was found walking along the highway by a kind trucker. They never took initiative to figure anything out and waited until the parents found their own child or called the police. I have no idea how the principal kept her job...

That's absolutely dreadful! I'm fairly sure that here (Germany) that would be classed as negligence on the part of the school, maybe gross negligence. It's shocking that nothing happened.

People can be so "well meaning" . My Mom got a call once from a "concerned friend" about my Dad driving around multiple times with a good looking young woman in the passenger seat. First, so what? It's driving... he's not allowed to meet females? Why would any contact with the opposite sex automatically mean an affair? Second, it was me, at 14, being picked up from high school if he was around my school when I was let out. Third, and this was well known by the "friend" : my father is a taxi driver.

It didn't happen. This is clearly a joke. I can't believe there are so many gullible people! Schools don't allow a strange man to pick up a student for a week and then casually call the parent after it has happened numerous times. Also it is beyond ridiculous to believe that the mother "forgot" that she herself had picked up her daughter from school all week. This story is either a silly joke or a dumb lie. What concerns me is all the people who believe this actually happened.

As funny as it is, it's disturbing how kids can be just picked up by anyone. It happened to my daughter, really. As I was walking down the street to pick up my daughter from school. I saw her walking with her friend's dad (who also happened to be my daughter's dad's friend). Seeing that I wasn't there yet for my daughter he took it upon himself to walk her back home. I didn't know who to be more mad at. I took my daughter, told this dad (who had the audacity to lecture me about being a little late, even though it was still well before 4:00 pm, and school ends at 3:30 pm. No big deal.) I could totally charge him with kidnapping if I wanted. Me and my daughter went back to the school (there were still some kids in the hall) to talk to her teacher. Her teacher had no idea someone else picked her up. After this incident she was more diligent about who was going with whom and I talked to my daughter about only leaving school with either me or her dad only.

Sounds like the news item I heard on the radio yesterday. In a primary school in the town of Noordwijkerhout, they closed the school for two hours yesterday morning, because people had seen a suspicious man in the school and decided to call the cops. An entire police team, including a helicopter, went to the school to investigate. Then it turned out the suspicious man was an employee of the school, with a knife, who was on his way to cut a cake.

At my daughters elementary you had to show your ID when picking up and you were also background checked before you were allowed to step foot on the campus. Any parents w any kind of conviction or charge as well as anyone on the sign out list wasnt allowed on school property.

"How did the school release the child to a strange man?" A: many schools, especially middle and high schools have general release so that kids just leave and then can get picked up by parents or even just walk home. It's likely that the kid was coming over to a car and getting in, and the school wasn't set up to stop it. As for how mom didn't know, maybe pickup rotates, or maybe (because of phrasing) the OP thought maybe it was like someone was picking her up and dropping her back off.

At my elementary school, children left school on their own/ got on the bus when the bell rang. Older students would lead the younger ones to the right bus- but if walking, you could go with whomever.

When I was moving into my new house I had several people here doing work; everything from painting to carpet removal to renovating the bathrooms. One day our garbage had not been picked up. I called the city sanitation department to enquire about pick up. After the initial courtesies were exchanged I asked about the pick up of the carpeting I had left for pick up. The man I spoke with told me that he had seen a "strange little man" putting out the rolls of carpeting. That strange little man was ME! Granted, I am exceptionally fair skinned and have a slight mustache but what make me strange as a little man are my "barely a B" breasts. I can relate to the woman in this article. Relax my Sister, you are not alone!

This story should be used to determine a person's gullibility. If you believe a stranger picked up a child from school "all week" and only told the parent after many days of this behavior, you're pretty gullible. If you believe that a mother would forget that she herself picks up her child from school every day and suddenly thinks a strange man has been picking up the child, you are quite gullible. And if you believe a school would take photos of a strange man picking up a child from their school for days and only bother making a call to a parent after a week of this, AND you believe a photo of that woman would look like a "stubby man with fragile hair," you are extremely gullible. Off the charts. The lady gave away the joke when she said they described the man as having "fragile hair." That's when pretty much anyone should realize it's a joke. If you're still not convinced, go to her tiktok channel. It is filled with jokes and skits like this one.

At the end of the school day, most schools (public schools, in America) let kids do whatever. Get on a bus, get in a car, walk home... They don't have the manpower to sign kids out, and since kids are allowed to walk home, it doesn't stop kids from simply walking off the property and being met by someone outside of the school gates.

This story went from freaky to funny in a heartbeat! But seriously, why didn't it occur to the staff to ask for I.D.? Also, "talk, dark, and stubby, looked out of shape, and had a light moustache"?! I most certainly would have been more than a little offended, even good-naturedly.

Why would the staff ask for ID if it was the end of the school day? At most public schools, there's no sign-out for students at the end of the day (except for little ones like pre-k and kindergarten), so to ask for ID would actually be outside of their policy. If they let kids walk home at the end of the day, they can't suddenly jump in like, "Yeah, you can walk home... but not with that guy". They normally only ID when you are picking a kid up early, before school let's out.

Sounds like the writer isn't aware Shanta is a social media comic. She post comical videos all the time on her social platforms. She purposely created this. FYI: No school allows children to leave premises without proper precautions.

I hope the writer becomes aware this lady is a comical social media personality. She does comedy on her platforms. It was purposely done to cause laughter. FYI: No school allows anyone to pick up children. There is always a process for safety.

Exactly. I can't believe the number of people who believe this nonsense. It doesn't even make any sense. This mother forgot that she picks up her daughter from school every day? This story is really silly and is clearly a joke. My goodness. The gullibility runs strong around here.

Hey, why is no one asking how long they had been letting some stranger pick up her kid? They said it happened every day so this wasn't the first time that they let her be picked up by someone they thought was a stranger.

I'm so confused how anyone can take this seriously. You forgot to put your wig on? Every day? And you already know who's been picking her up from school because it's........ You.....

Have you seen the movie Independence Day from 1996. It's very insightful as to the topic of this hilarious story

Strange how they let her daughter go home with who they thought was a strange man for a while. So glad they were mistaken.

There is nothing wrong with this. I side with the school who is actually concerned about who they are sending a child home with.

I see what you mean, but think, they also said how she was going home every day with a strange man. They didn't check with her the first time they thought it was a stranger instead of the mother.

No school should allow a stranger to leave with a child.

This is obviously made up. She would have known that she picked her own daughter up.

So, and correct me here if I'm wrong. She was picking her daughter up "every day" then turns around to wonder what strange person was picking her daughter up? So, bets on this story was made up so people would say she doesn't like a man without a wig?

This whole post was ret*rded and makes no sense. The TT video doesn't help. Either show us her looking like the description or don't waste our time.

Please don't use that word as an insult. That's not what it means, and it's very insensitive
