My Daughter Breaks All The Girl Stereotypes And I Try To Capture That In My Photographs (26 Pics)
I grew up as a single child in a little home set in a small urban community. I was raised by a single father who worked during the day and was an artist in the evenings. Now, I am a stay at home father, and an artist, helping to raise my daughter, Haley.
This photo essay titled “Long Summer Days” follows my daughter's journey through childhood as she struggles with the boredom of living as a single child in the same small home where I grew up. We largely choose a device-free lifestyle for her, which leads her to explore the world and envelop herself in her imagination and creativity. These images include subtle undertones and rich metaphors that disrupts the stereotypes of girls while highlighting my daughter's delightfully unconsciousness strength, independence, defiance, and playfulness.
She is at an age where she is developing her strong personality and it is a culmination of all these elements which I am capturing and documenting.

Ok the only way she's not like other girls and anyone else (in this picture) is if she did literally anything holding the handle and it doesn't swing back and kill her ankles. Freaking razor scooters. (I don't mean to offend, it's mostly a joke)
Love this, I have a picture of me - looking almost identical to her - when I was a little girl. It's one of my kids' favorite pics of their Momma.
I can't see any stereotypes broken, but lovely pictures. It reminds me of my own childhood. (I am probably just not aware of those stereotypes that the photographer refers to.)

Yep. Breaking that good old “chair” girl stereotype. Great to see a girl finally sitting in a chair instead of floating for once.

Don't really see what stereotypes these break, maybe outdoorsy stuff, but still cool!
So she's just growing up like many of us pre-internet, pre-social media did, and she might be a tomboy(is that still a word we can use nowadays?) Title of post his a bit head scratching.
I don't know why people would be offended by tomboy unless there's something I don't know about the background of it.

Title is stupid. Trying to make yourself feel better that you have a special kid or something? 95% of these things are normal kids stuff. Nothing special about it. Gorgeous photos though.
just saying, everyone be yourself, whether you happen to coincide with a stereotype or not :) whether it's just a few things about you that are "stereotypical", or many things, or nothing at all. Happy holidays <3

Awesome photos...I was such a tomboy growing up...still am actually. I don't regret a thing :)
I think the photos are great but I would not call it stereo types I think it's an opinion on what the person wants to do
I think this is maybe what’s non-stereotypical about the series. Girls are expected to smile in order to look pretty, which isn’t our entire lives. I don’t buy into things being 100% one gender or the other, maybe not to the extreme that is “popular” now. I was definitely a tomboy that grew up to like girlier things as an adult, but still maintained my geeky curiosity with many topics even adult women don’t care about.

Maybe she was never told to smile for the camera and so she doesn't. I didn't smile in my group photo in Kindergarten class for two reasons: my parents didn't train me to smile on cue for photos; I didn't understand English at the time, so I didn't smile when the photographer told the class to smile.
