Life is a daily battle that we somehow need to win. However, sometimes there's no way to run away from all the struggles, so it's just better to laugh them off instead. That's the message that Anastasia 'Stushona' Ivanova, an artist better known as Comicada, is trying to transmit with her fun and entertaining comics.

Anastasia illustrates the life of her alter ego who, as the artist mentioned before, is "a reflective girl finding non-standard ways of solving problems." Her illustrations poke fun at everyday life annoyances and we cannot wait to share them with you!

The main character in Comicada comics seems to appear in absurd and sometimes even disturbing situations, either trying to deal with them in an unusual way or just accepting them as they are. Either way, the comics are filled with good humor and irony that might make one squeeze out a smile, even a little one.

For Comicada, creating comics is a way to speak with the world. She doesn't push herself and draws only when she has something to say. Other times, the artist thinks that it's better to be silent for a little while. In this way, one's brain might be filled with good and creative ideas.

We got in touch with the artist again to get to know more about her and her creative process. Anastasia shared that she has been drawing all the time for as long as she can remember. "I can't imagine my life without art and a pencil in my hand. I had no doubts about what life path to choose and what profession. After I got a higher art education, I managed to work in the IT field, in the development of characters and mascots, draw pictures and still practice it. My love for character design has motivated me to create short 4 screen comics. I didn't think it would resonate with people like that, but I really enjoy it when people smile when they look at my comics."

Inspiration for her comics Comicada finds everywhere. "I love everything absurd and funny. Sometimes a Chinese online store can inspire me, and sometimes a phrase I heard in a stream of people. You need to note these things and write them down quickly otherwise they will fly away from you."

To the question of what makes her passionate about creating comics, Comicada answered that her comics and animations have one important mission - to cheer people up. "Even if one person smiled, it's already good. Sometimes one little picture is enough to make your day. Even in the darkest times, it is a saving piece of light."

At the moment, the artist is working on several projects: "Silent comic" is a comic where there is not a single phrase or explanatory text. "The second project is not illustrative but very interesting and new to me, it is related to the book I am writing.

Lately, I rarely release anything new. In the current reality, humor seems out of place. But I see that both new and my old comics and animations still resonate with viewers. Now my work is entering a new stage, a kind of restart. How it will be, I don't know until the end, but I know it will be interesting!"

Maybe it's just me, but I hate the squaring and thickening eyebrows fad.

Yep, my hubbie told me, my hair is different when being on my head as if being in the sink - cause it's "dead then", he said :-D

Don’t ever let men off the hook for hair in the drain, just because the hair on their heads is shorter than ours (in most cases). I have to constantly remind my husband that, even though the hair on his head is way shorter than mine, the hair on his arms, legs, and chest is way longer than mine—-and he sheds way more of it than I shed my long head hair. Plus, when he shaves, he’s washing stubble plus shaving cream down the drain, which contribute a lot to blockages.

We have a hair catcher over the drain that gets emptied after each shower, it's always fuller after him then me despite him having very short hair and I have long.

I've got really long hair and have always just stuck the fallout from shampoos on the shower wall. An old boyfriend thought it was cute --- 3yrs later it wasn't cute anymore😅

Don't flush hair down the toilet, toss it in the trash. Hair in the plumbing is bad whatever route it takes.

in africa we find this very strange. A pumpkin has a lot of good nutrients in it and it is delicious if you slice it and bake it with a bit of oil and the skin still on, till it caramelises. This thing of making lanterns and letting them rot is terrible. https://www.lecreuset.co.za/recipes/roasted-pumpkin/
