Real Estate Agents Ask This Guy To Send Pics Of His House To Confirm It’s Still Upright, Receive These Hilarious Pics

Interview With Author

Taking photos for house inspections might sound like a responsible and completely adult thing to do. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t let your inner child out and have some fun with them. That’s exactly what Tim Rousu, who rents a house with his family in Queensland, in Australia did.

When real estate agents contacted Tim and asked him to take photos in each room to make sure that everything’s alright with the house, he took the opportunity to make us all laugh. Instead of sending the agents boring pictures, he and his family posed in some hilarious and very unusual shots. Like Tim said, it’s a house inspection with a twist. Scroll down and have a look yourselves, dear Pandas!

31-year-old diesel fitter Tim from Mirani told Bored Panda that the real estate agents loved the funny photos he sent them. “[They] were great about it, saying that they had all had a good laugh and it had been passed around their office.” Scroll down for the rest of our interview with Tim.

Tim sent his real estate agents a whole bunch of hilarious photos that they absolutely adored

The Australian dad had a lot of fun staging the photos with his family

Tim told us that the quarantine has been rough for him and his family. “I’m still working, luckily, but even that has had major changes with strict rules, limitations, and practices. But my partner and daughter have been confined to the house and homeschooling and trying to run her handmade business,” he said.

“Our daughter has been struggling to understand fully the restrictions and it’s been difficult on her, plus the news while giving the truth was terrifying for her, for all of us really,” he explained the weight the coronavirus pandemic has put on his and his loved ones’ shoulders.

Tim clarified that they’re not planning to move any time soon. The photos were part of a routine inspection. “But they hadn’t stated that nobody could appear in them so I kind of just ran with my idea.” He added that the main message that he wanted people to take from this is that “we are in a very hard time and uncharted waters, so it’s easy to become down or feel defeated, but this will pass and I want everyone to stay strong.” A wholesome message for all of you pandas out there!

Here’s Tim, his partner, their daughter, and their dog Johnson who is “a pretty old happy boy”

“I’ll be honest and say I never expected this to be anything more than just a joke between myself and the real estate [agents]. I created my post purely to brighten the day of a few friends. The responses I’ve received have been amazing,” Tim told Bored Panda.

Tim shared his funny photos on Facebook, too, and people absolutely adored them. More than 12k people liked them, over 6k reshared the pics, and 4.3k social media users left a comment.

The family man told us that he felt very good to bring a bit of laughter to people all around the world during a time that’s very difficult for all of us.

“The thought of someone being in the photos doing silly things sounded great and then I spent hours thinking of new and more exciting ways to be in the photos,” Tim told us more about how much effort he and his family put into the mini-project.

According to Tim, the photo shoot was a great way to bond with his family and they had loads of fun. “My family and I had a great time taking these and despite the rain and miserable weather, we were laughing the entire time taking them,” he shared.

I love the photos! They all look like they had fun planing, staging and doing them, and hopefully the real estate agents had as fun looking at them as I did or even more because to them it was probably a pleasant surprise. I'm glad he sent them some genuine photos too, just in case

Love it, why not have a bit of harmless fun. So glad I don’t have the quarterly inspections anymore. Although it did get me to clean the oven and windows more regularly.

Is that a thing? I was a landlord for a few years and the only time I saw the inside of the house was when plumbers or furnace technicians were there.

I like the second lawnmower shot the most. I think he should have tried to make the rest like that, where an uncareful look means you’ve missed something funny or freaky.

It is really funny, but I have to cringe a bit too... I don't think I could pose with a lawnmower over my legs like that even if I'd personally emptied the gas and disconnected all wires

If your real estate agent didn't laugh and find these hilarious.... hire a new agent.

"so it’s easy to become down or feel defeated, but this will pass and I want everyone to stay strong"...unfortunately, I think the damage being done to those grieving loved ones, stuck in DA situations, losing their jobs, losing their lifestyle, etc etc will be permanent. I've been in isolation alone for months and the effect it's had on my psyche is disturbing. Maybe some people are having an easier go of it, but this is traumatizing many worldwide.

Was there a cyclone? Is that why they wanted to know if the house was "still upright".

Hi Seabeast, no there wasn't a cyclone. This was his Aussie joking way of saying that the real estate agents wanted to make sure that he hadn't trashed the place! In Australia, landlords (usually through the estate agent) have regular inspections every three months or so, to make sure that no damage is done. It is usually done in person, but with the COVID-19 restrictions in place, they requested photos instead.

What the hell is a house inspection and why would that be legal without good reason?

Approx every 3 months the landlord or real estate agent comes to the house to make sure you are taking care of it. They have a list they tick off like oven clean, lawns mowed, no stains on carpets etc. It is in the tenancy agreement so yes it is legal. They do legally have to give you at least 7 days notice before they come for an inspection, it’s not like it’s a surprise. They are NOT allowed to go through cupboards or drawers etc even if it is part of the house. But they check all the rooms, the front and backyard and any sheds or other buildings on the property.

S**t. I don't think so. I just had an in person home inspection last week on a house I'm building and I was next to the inspector the entire time for two hours straight. I assure you he wasn't looking at just dry wall. He was looking at pipping, foundations, he crawled up in the attic, in the roof. Sheesh, woe be to this buyer if they are nieve enough to just trust this as their "inspection". Yikes.

These people are renting, so perhaps the landlord just wants to see that they aren't trashing the place.
