Most of us have gotten really handy and creative during lockdown, but this 53-year-old man from Orange County, California put everyone’s quarantine projects to shame by building a private coffee shop right in his backyard and it looks more cosy than your average hip coffee place!

A full-time contractor has built his DIY dream coffee place called La Vida during his free time in just over three months. Instead of throwing away all the unused materials and trash from his previous jobs, he gave them a new purpose and as a result, he has a perfect chill zone where he can enjoy a cup of coffee with family and friends. This is the dad every coffee lover would die for!

“Did my dad really build a coffee shop in the backyard by himself within 3 months? Absolutely,” said Juliann Astrid in her tweet. At that time, her father was completely unaware about the Father’s Day gift he was about to get. The tweet went viral overnight, making headlines in the news and across the internet. Ed, who is now one of the most famous builders, only found out about it when his daughter framed an article from Newsweek and brought it to him the next day. In her follow-up tweet, Astrid said that “this makes him excited about building again.” As of today, the tweet has 302.6k likes and 37k retweets.

The coffee shop has a cosy area for family and guests to hang out together that can accommodate around 6 people and a table for two outside. As if the coffee maker wasn’t enough, the little coffee shop has a wooden counter, a bar sitting area, a pastry display, a mini fridge, a microwave, a chess table with two chairs, a bookshelf, a TV, and a menu board.

In other words, it looks and feels like a fully-functioning coffee shop that could welcome clients any day!
