Aren't spiders just adorable? Well okay, in most cases they're bloody terrifying, but that image might change when you take a closer look. As close as to where their feet should be, where you'll find that spiders have paws!
In more scientific terms, a spider's paw is called a tarsus, and it's only one of eight parts that make up a rather complicated leg. Just like cats or dogs, spiders also have claws attached to the paws, but in their case, legs also work as ears and nose picking up subtle changes in the air to hear and recognize smells.
Most of these furry paws belong to tarantulas, of which there are around 900 species. Some of them have leg span for up to 30cm - as large as your average dinner plate. The paws are actually called claw tufts that can have around 600,000 tiny strands of fur sticking out. This density of hairs helps the spider travel on vertical surfaces and even glass. So technically the answer to the question "Do spiders have paws?" would be a no, but let's not diffuse this lovely illusion of spiders being cute.
Science aside, these things simply look adorable! A fact that I hope to remember the next time I'll be freaking out while looking at a spider in my kitchen. Check our selection of cute spider paws and you'll be pleasantly surprised on a sudden change in feelings for these arachnids.

This one's so cute ! But if you showed me a pic of the same spider , I would become Usain Bolt in no time 😂😂
Seriously arachnophobes, how do you expect a girl to knit webs without her freakishly tiny paws?
Nah, I've enjoyed some from up the page, but you won't make me think this one is cute or anything lovely!
How ironic the paws are so well kept, the rest of the leg, needs waxing 🤔
Now I realize my earlier comment of how I thought they were cute was wrong
The paws I can deal with, the tiny claws and the funky looking knee pads... however the long hairs are grossing me out! It's like God was hungover when he dreamt these bad boys up. "Okay so we're thinking eight legs and eight eyes. Yup fangs. Um let's stick some paws on it... and I'm thinking I'll model the fur using the porcupine design I made yesterday. Yup that's that!!! Oh I have to give it home?? Bloody hell my head hurts!! It can damn well make its own home!! .. what was that St Peter? What's it going to make it out of? Well it can Pull it out of Its A**E for all I care! Get me some ibuprofen!! Oh and the health and safety department have told me to put a red warning sticker on the black widows....
Spiders are just awesome. I prefer house spiders, as they are very interesting and elegant creatures and amazingly quick runners.
THey use the hairs to climb on webs and the claws to climb on everything else. Trees. Rocks. Humans .
This is the coolest fact I have learned in a while, and jumping spiders just became even cuter in my mind! While the closeups are amazing, I would like to see the name and photo of the whole spider, so I can tell exactly what I'm looking at.
oh you mean they have tiny horror claws to pull out guts? NOPE!
My stick and leaf insects have those little hooks on their legs, I find them adorable. And spiders' legs are fluffy as well! My entomologist's heart just melted!
Okay Idk how I feel about this. I'm a huge arachnophobe but the little paws are kinda cute. But then I see the jointy hairy spindly legs and I'm scared again :S
Nope. Just nope. No part of anything that creepy can EVER be adorable. Except to its mommy.
I'm still not okay with spiders....I will take a snake any day over a spider.
If this is"adorable" then sir/madame we have a different understanding of what "adorable" is. Makes my skin crawl just looking at it.
Great photos and they'd be greater if we could see the spiders they belong to!
Awwwwww....how about hell no? A whole big bucket of honey bunches of Oh F**k No! They could have 8 big Disney Bambi eyes and they'd still be creepy as hell. *toot toot*! Last train to Nopeville, hop aboard!
ya i still dont like them, they maybe be interesting animals but id rather keep my distance thanks
How absolutely adorable? They wait for me to open my front door at night when I take the dog out. If you think this changed my mind you are friggin stupid. No way do I think these creatures are not out to get me especially when they run towards me and not away from me.
Paws, hooves, whatever. There's still 8 of them. Too much for me.
Now that explains why spiderman can crawl up a building he's got tiny claws
As a girl, people mistake me for a spider hater when its the complete opposite, i love spiders, i hold them, i help them (including an injured golden orb that needed help) I help my friends my taking away spiders near them. But knowing that spiders have claws is truly adorable, makes them even more fascinating
If they stay on their side of the furniture, underneath, we're fine
Black Widow & Brown Recluse are what I watch out for here. My next door neighbor got bitten by a Brown Recluse & was in the hospital for 2 weeks .

Really explains why they give me the shudders when they crawl on me. Ewww those little paws. No thank you.
I had no idea spiders had paws. And those hairs creeped me out! These are quite beautiful. Spiders are terrifying and beautiful at the same time. I had the privilege of watching up close a spider stalk & kill a fly on my deck. It was pretty awesome to watch. And the spider wasn't too much bigger than the fly and there was a good bit of distance between them. Interesting creatures, just trying to survive like the rest of us. It's funny that we're soooooooo much bigger than a spider yet they scare the living schitt out of us, lol.
Most beautiful paws seen so far! But...the more I look at their nails/claws the more it seems like their thangs to me *Chills*... :/ :D
Uhm... okay. These furry soft paws are sooo cute. The spider can tap you softlywith its paw like a cat and then you look with love in its all eight eyes.... But you know? In Poland all spiders are naked! No furry soft spiders, just corrupted, horryfying, bald monsters just waiting to rip off your leg! :(
I never kill spiders,,,i have a big wolf spiger that live in my front room,,,he kills all the bad bugs
Can't help it. My arachnophobia keeps me from being able to see it as cute LOL
Nice photos and wicked information - but too many photos repeated.
This actually did help a bit! I will try to be ore tolerant of them when I see them instead of trying to kill them instantly.
What kind of Camera &/or lens was used here. Tell me like an 12 year old.
There's a reason why I have tarantulas all over my bedroom.... they're adorable little fluffbutts!!! :P
Aww I've always loved spiders anyways but this makes them even cuter
Spiders eat the things that would do us harm. Very few are a danger to us.
OMG i love spidders! i let the non-poisonous stay in my house. i get little jumpers around the house.
I always like spiders they are the coolest creatures on earth especially the jumping ones
Just wondering, did you contact the photographers to get permission to use their images? :|
I'm a big fan of spiders. I don't understand being afraid of them unless you live in a place where they're usually poisonous or aggressive.
Look ma, nope paws. Go back to your creepy corner and keep feasting on other bugs. While society will continue to body shame you.
Somehow these paws´re even cute, on German TV I watched a docu about tarantulas as pets once, and the owners said they have a really soft and warm fur too, they said they can even be cuddly and enjoy to be petted, I think I could even touch one of them to find out if it´s true, but I find those spiders disgusting that have very thin long legs and a body that looks like a pinhead, but I wouldn´t kill those either, if some spider´s here in my appartment I take a glass or a transparent mug, put it over the spider upside-down, push a thicker paper or a piece of cardboard between the glass/mug and the surface where the spider´s sitting, then lift it up together, then go on the balcony with it, remove the paper/cardboard and release the spider - and then hope it won´t come back again LOL!!! 😂😂😂 With this method I also remove bees, wasps, hornets, bumblebees etc. from my appartment, once a grasshopper´s been in here, on the 5th floor, I´ve been wondering how and where it came from.... 😲😲
I don't know, it doesn't make them more cute for me, just more terrifying :D
