We know you remember Azuki, the tiny Japanese hedgehog who goes on camping trips. His perky ears, button nose, and delightful roundness are just impossible to forget. Well, the cute hedgehog recently traded his cozy dream house in for a set of miniature Coleman camping gear and took a trip to the great outdoors. Equipped with essential camping gear – tent, kayak, and barbecue, he was all set for success and pretty much had the time of his life. Just looking at his photos makes us want to get our camp on. It also really, really makes us want a hedgehog pet. Like, right this second.

I don't know about all of the gear, but at one store I go to (in their camping section) they have little minature tents, so you can get an idea of what yours will look like when it's set up.....

Yup, my poor little girl passed away last year. I loved her but she was a cranky B*%$#! You can tell be how much the spines are spiked out in some of these photos that this guy is hating his photo shoot.
So cute, but in Germany it´s not allowed to have hedgehogs as pets, you may only take the too small hedgehog babies inside to hibernate if you know how to do this, then you gotta release them again in spring!!! 💖💖💖
That's actually not true. The hedgehog you're seeing there is a African pygmy hedgehog (German name: "Afrikanischer Weißbauch-Igel") and it's perfectly okay to have on as a pet in Germany, because, unlike their European brethren living out in the wild, the African Pigmy hedgehog isn't placed under any special animal protection laws. It should be noted though that this type of hedgehog is still a really demanding animal to keep (in the US there seems to be a trend to have a pet-hedgehog and people are keeping them in the most irresponsible ways imaginable). They require loads of space, a very special diet and a room with a constant temperature. So the responsible way to keep a hedgehog is a lot of work and not recommended for beginners, but legally perfectly fine and possible.
We have a hedgehog named Nina and she's easy to take care of. She's sweet and doesn't bite, and likes to cuddle up to you and get warm. Cleaning the cage is a pain, but other than that, it made a much better pet than I thought, and way better than the hamster we used to have.
and a reptile warming pad under the cage does perfect for cold weather, as well as draping a towel over the top and one side of the cage to stop drafts getting in.

We had a hedgehog. Never thought to dress her up. They hate being on their backs, BTW. The one in the kayak shot is looking to bite somebody, and she would be well-justified. This is actually cruel.

Well, this is silly... ridiculous even. But, I l-o-v-e the miniatures. They are exactly like the gear my family packed up every summer for a 10-day camping trip in NH or VT. And, what a fairies garden they would make!! I would buy them in a minute. LOVE the memories!
Am I planning on going camping? No. If I was would I buy these just becuase they adverised them with a tiny hedgehog?... quite possibly :P
Rumor has it, it's next holiday will be a cruise hehe

I've had a number of little African white bellied hedgehogs as pets and I love them. These pictures make me want to go out and buy more. They always ran free in the house which made it interesting when visitors would stop over and they would see these little critters racing around--fast enough they couldn't really make out what they were. But we loved them dearly!

Love this. I am from India (South - Tamilnadu). I thought here we can pet these animals - or don;t know they are here in forest. From a colleague i came to know the ppl near the forest eat this for cold. WTF is with the ppl. I cannot imagine how come they eat this .
