Want to know how to easily piss people off in their own countries? Then check out this helpful guide by Cale, the artist behind the popular webcomic Things In Squares. Whether you're looking to upset the French, the Germans, the Mexicans or the Japanese, his tongue-in-cheek comics will show you the best way to go about it. Don't like the Italians? Then abuse their beloved spaghetti and watch the tears begin to fall. Want to know what really upsets an American? Give them a normal-sized plate of healthy food and find out for yourself. And if you really want to hurt a Canadian then just assume they're American and you've made an enemy for life. Scroll down to see if you can find your own country in there. Did he get it right? Honestly, I'm an American and I don't even know what a regular-sized meal looks like.

Ohhh portion control is sooo hard here in America! Lived here all my life and restaurants have always served big portions and I eat them!

Moira Salewski

Same! And we're also taught leftover shame from an early age. Like "there are starving kids in Africa, finish your food!" My parents never said that, but growing up poor I knew we were supposed to eat what was put in front of us. This is why I now cook at home 95% of the time. Haha

My wife an I had a meal in L.A. we nearly died there was so much food, the next day we really pissed them off because we ordered 1 starter and 1 soda ( free refills) it was enough food & drink for both of us. The staff didnt like it though.

I'm American and I usually order appetizers and/or split something with someone. Normal entrees are usually to big.

Even organic food in the States is bad for you. We've poisoned and destroyed our own food supply

giovanna
Community Member

I think the point should be, even before organic, on real raw food. Not processed. Real food, like real vegetables and cereals. Honestly a lot of the stuff sold in America wouldn't be considered edible by an Italian

The rest of the world does it! Give it a chance, try, I think it's a matter of habit :)

Actually, it's more the cost of that healthy plate. What we really are is cheap.

Not all Americans are the same ofcourse, as with any stereotypes of anyone. I did experience when visiting Florida that the sizes was gigantic(a couple times ordered food and got enough to feed a family), and saw a "healthy food"-isle at Publix that looked more like the snacks and junk food department in a Norwegian store. Ofcourse many of us Norwegian eats crappy too. Mostly those that are addicted to American food like MacDonalds and stuff though, when I think about it :P

Americans in GENERAL may not be good with healthy food, but this does not speak true for all of us, just as it doesn't in other countries.

Allana Rose

No! This is a stereotype, just come to California, its almost the law here to eat properly *L*

Portion size is a problem secondary to lack of exercise.

Totally in the same category as fun/quirky ones like 'don't break their pasta,' 'make them draw imperfect circles,' or 'don't pass the hot sauce.' Hilarious guide.

JeanLuke
Community Member

This appears to be the only offensive, not fun/quirky one, but if you think 'break their noodles,' 'make them draw imperfect circles,' or 'don't pass the hot sauce,' is actually in the same category, by all means, tell me I'm wrong.
