I think recementing would be better, books will eventually deteriorate in the exterior elements. Besides those books may have some value and this destroys them.

The bibliophile in me weeps for those books but I do love the idea with some incomplete books or so. I just hope that they can withstand any weather, would be a shame otherwise.

A great temporary fix. I don't see lasting for very long, unless it has some sort of heavy duty sealant

I'd like to think these are incomplete books or with such stains that the story itself has become incomplete. We all know there are such books out there. Best not to think beyond that 😉

I read once that this was done in early japan. They use gold because they think damage adds character to a piece....same with people. The damage becomes the most beautiful part
