22 Times People Took Face Mask Design To Another Level
Interview With ArtistFace masks. They’re on most of our minds (and faces) these days. From simple surgical masks and super-expensive masks to DIY solutions, it seems that nearly everyone has at least one mask to protect them from the coronavirus when they go outside. However, some people are facing this crisis in style and have designed incredibly creative and unique face masks. While others are going for pop culture references with their own masks.
Bored Panda has collected some of the most awesome face masks that people are wearing or made with their own two hands, so scroll down, upvote your faves, and let us know in the comments which ones you loved the most! (My personal favorite is the Facehugger one from Alien.)

I need one of these. XD If a customer is getting irritable I'd like to see them try NOT to laugh when I'm wearing this. :P
This is THE best face mask I’ve seen. Is it available for sale? I love it. ❤️❤️❤️
When I first saw this on Facebook, I bought one, but it has not yet arrived. What’s up with that?
I read through all the comments and cannot find where to purchase one of these.
Since Gov. Inslee mandated that every one in Washington MUST wear a mask (date June 26) I suggest we all get #1 mask . This is the silliest. I am going to be yelling out to Gerry "I CAN'T BREATHE." Especially when I am eating my dinner. k.s.
I ordered one over a month ago. I still have not received it. Any idea when it will arrive?

Load More Replies...What is this called or what is it's model number. I want to buy one.
I ordered many weeks ago and just got mine this week. I need to order another one, but there really isn't any info on the package.
Load More Replies...That looks great. I really like this one on Zazzle too: https://www.zazzle.com/clown_cloth_face_mask-256453619226958658
Where can I purchase this mask? I'm currently doing 33 radiation treatments and 6 rounds of chemo for lung cancer. This would wake up many of the people in the group if I came in with this on, and the nurses would scramble to order I bet? Please advise at your earliest convenience. Karen Barbee
Whoever made this was very talented and must have lots of patience. I made one the other night.. The teeth gave me a hard time but all in all it turned out pretty well considering I'm not that good . Everyone at work loved it!
It looks like it a prop' that Nina Conti,(ventriloquist), she puts it on a volunteer and opens and closes the mouth remotely whilst providing the voice; the emotion in their eyes as they say stuff they have no control over is damaging to your health! https://youtu.be/S2puwRopD8E
Where can I buy a couple of these? In box me please sclady2004eye@ Gmail.com
It took me a week to finally chase this down! I'd love to get pattern or instructions
I want to buy that so bad. I’m a nurse on the frontline. I believe it will lift my colleagues spirits. Please let me know where to find it.
My mom messaged me to ask me to order face masks for her. I sent her this pic and told her that's all they had left and that a case was on its way to her. Yeah, my phone rang 30 seconds later, lol. Worth it. trump-face...c2975f.jpg

Bored Panda spoke with Cristina Rodo about her awesome Facehugger mask. According to her, she made the mask to participate in the coronavirus mask competition from Fiberart Fever. "It took me about three all days to do. It's wet felted and then needle felted, for the details."
"After I submitted it for the competition, I shared it on several art groups and people went absolutely crazy (in one of them I already had 3k likes and counting). I wasn't really expecting that.
Most people think it's real cool. Many say they are scared/repulsed by the it, but still admire it. It's supposed to be scary, it's a life sucker, like the virus itself."
"No Mask? No Problem
A guy who used to work in the movie FX industry made himself a mask for the pandemic. I think it looks awesome."
Cristina revealed that she's a big fan of the Alien movies and of movies in general.
"The quarantine hasn't affected me that much since I already worked from home, I'm a fiber artist. Still working, like usual. Now my husband and (big) kid are grounded too, but we all get along very well so it's peaceful," she told us about how her family's dealing with the quarantine.
Common sense dictates that any mask is better than no mask, right? When it comes to protecting yourself during the pandemic, it’s better to be safe than sorry. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t look cool and majestic! From witch doctor masks to artistic masterpieces, people are showing a lot of creativity even when things are looking grim.
But do face masks really work against the coronavirus and do they protect you? A lot of countries believe so. For instance, some places like Lombardy, in Italy, made wearing face masks mandatory. Meanwhile, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend people at least wear “cloth face coverings” when they’re outside. The CDC even posted instructions on how to make them.
South Korean solution to drink while wearing masks.
Part of the reason why there are recommendations to wear DIY face masks is to make sure that US medical workers get access to the limited supply of protective equipment. Simply put, some doctors and nurses are using their own homemade masks at the moment. But they need real equipment because they’re on the frontlines in the fight against Covid-19.
Paul Hunter at the University of East Anglia and his colleagues analyzed 31 studies about how effective face masks are. “Our view is that there was some evidence of a degree of protection, but it wasn’t great. So we still don’t effectively know if face masks in the community work,” he said. Though the findings are inconclusive, I’ll repeat myself: it’s better to be safe than sorry. So get working on those unique face masks, dear Pandas!
"Sf, Ca artist creates realistic-looking custom respirator masks that unlocks Iphones"
When face recognition for your phone is a priority, you know your life is messed up.
When you ask that nigerian prince for a picture to prove he's real before sending money. (DON'T ACTUALLY DO THIS)
"Finished up my custom respirator today."
I feel distracted.... Not focusing on the mask too much because the hair are hiding it, maybe.

Unless you have a tight seal around the whole mask, they will not be of much help.
Depends on what the goal is. To protect you from infection - for that they need not only a tight seal but also a material with according filtration capability, depending on virus concentration FFP1, 2 or 3. But wearing a mask reduces the risk to infect others by a lot. So if everybody wears a mask it protects - everybody. Also wearing any mask prevents the one wearing it from touching his mouth or nose with his fingers.

IN 20-30 years we'll be seeing some of these on Antiques Roadshow, they'll be collectors items, with awesome back stories about grandma's mask that perfectly matched her wedding gown, and grandpa's tuxedo mask. And aunt Sue's teeny tiny newborn baby mask with the pink Elastic ribbon
my husband has me cracking up he went to the store Saturday and while there he was looking for something to use as a mask. He came home and told me there were no masks but he found something in sporting goods.. he doesn't know what it is but he think it will make a good mask once he puts a lining in it for a filter.... the man bought an Athletic cup. He is from Egypt and where he grew up they were too poor to afford such things so had no idea what it was... he is still determined to make a mask out of it and disguise it but said "I need a smaller size" Cracked me up again imagining him trying to exchange it....
This is the best story I have heard since the quarantine began. Bless you and your darling husband. I would love to be there to see him exchange his athletic cup for something smaller 🤣
Load More Replies...This is a great article and I love it, but I'm really concerned by the introduction, which is inaccurate and misleading. The vast majority of masks are effective at reducing the risk of an unwitting coronavirus carrier from infecting others by approximately a fifth. They offer little to no protection to the wearer against becoming infected. People should wear masks, but they should do so to protect others, not to protect themselves. When people think of masks as self-protecting, they're more prone to forget that they still need to socially distance whilst wearing it, which is dangerous. If people more accurately remember they're wearing a mask to protect others, they're more likely to continue to practice social distancing. Please, please change the article to reflect this!
20 years ago I needed a Fake I.D. to get into the pub, now I need a Fake I.D. to get in to the grocery store 🤣
During these times just stay safe, take of yourself and your family and I will be praying for you.
