Think about all the electronics, all the very-hard-to-recycle stuff in there. Why do we need "smart" rechargeable batteries, when we had dumb ones for ages? You only need ONE charger (that can be way better, too, as it simply has more space for smart electronics, charging controls, diagnostics and whatnot). Sorry, but this idea is just dumb and made for very lazy people that need a micro USB on everything.
It's not "smart", it's a rechargeable battery that doesn't need a dedicated recharger. Making rechargable batteries more convenient isn't for "lazy" people, it's for people who might need to charge their batteries on the go but don't want to carry a bulky charger.

Rechargeable batteries have been around for years. Just not USB rechargeable ones.
I think that a plug in charger is much more useful. We have two Duracell plug in chargers, one takes 4 AA and the other takes 4 AAA and we have 8 of each battery, on rotation. Enough for everything we have.
That's a great idea; also be aware most cities now have places you can take your old batteries for recycling.... please never throw on the ground .
Much better than your traditional battery recharger. You can get a multiple charger, and charge them all at once.

Remenber that it's good because batteries are done with highly polluting elements, BUT we're still spending a lot of energy. Unless we live in Iceland or another green energy consumer country, our electricity comes from coal, gaz and petrol (so CO2 on air, waterwasting, etc) or from enriched uranium (radiation wasters for ever and ever, water waste, promoting nuclear industry and weapons, etc).

A lot of great ideas here! The straw thing gets me every time though. Why do we need straws? Is it really that difficult to drink with out one? I get why kids need them or when you are on the go, but sitting in a restaurant?
There are some disabilities that straws can help with when drinking and, for me, I get allergic reactions that make my lips swell badly and a lot of drinks sting on contact. At those times I do need straws. Though when it happens I'm very unlikely to be visiting a restaurant and terrifying the other diners!

Very cool, only one problem with some of them - energy. Sometimes the energy used to recycle creates more pollution than not recycling. This is of corse not saying recycling is bad!
This is why we need to invest more heavily in clean energy sources, like solar, wind, geothermal, etc. Honestly, the sun produces all the energy we need. If we can figure out more efficient and more earth-friendly solutions for batteries, we'd be set.

Such amazing ideas, I wish more corporations would use many of these ideas like "plastic" cups made from starch or straws made from avocado seeds etc. The amount of plastic companies produce is astounding. Consumers can do so much to do there part but of businesses continue the practices they do now I don't see that there will be a huge difference.

We are going in the right direction with these, it will take time to get where we need to be. HOWEVER food allergies are a thing, celiac is a thing (not really an allergy) just touching something made out of whatever it is you are allergic to, like the cups, cutlery, straws, could be deadly to someone. We need to get thinking again on some of these products. I like where they are headed, they need to get there a little faster so we don't kill some unsuspecting person who's allergic to corn that accidentally picks up that fork made of corn
When you want to think you are doing the right thing by using a paper straw, just think "Will this offset the factory that made it?" Answer: No.
Some of these are great, but when you've got allergies you can't use the alternatives. What plant starch is used - my partner is violently allergic to corn. The allergic to avocado, what do I do if the only straws available are mad with avocado (and yes, I need a straw). Plastic alternatives are awesome, but there are some things where it's the best option.

I love all these ideas! They are so creative. I think schools should have contests for children beginning in grade school to see who can come up with the most creative eco-friendly ideas . They should work in teams and give out awards for the top three ideas and runners up. Then each class should work on putting the best ideas(s) into action as a class project. It's good to instill these ideas early so that children grow up with a belief that they can make a difference instead of waiting for someone else to do it.

Some of these are great - but (there's always a butt) the "instead of just talking", often claiming to seperate phony people from those actually doing something with a positive impact ... implies that thoughtlessly done, well meant stuff is somehow good, while exchanging ideas is "just talkning" and not doing anything. But any impact of severe relevance can only be achieved if a lot of people do join, so the first step is to make those who still think that environment-friendly acting is something for pussies or otherwise optional and not mandatory finally get the point that, while not mandatory regarding the law, it still is mandatory regarding the desire to continue living on this weird ball floating within the huge nothing around it... Spread ideas! Be examples - but, please, TO talk about it! Before and after. Debate ideas, to improve those that need improvement, spread those that are already doing something!
I wash mine and have a dinky brush that came with the to help clean them. I don't mind what they are made of as long as they are harming the planet as little as possible.
