A sense of entitlement is a personality characteristic that's not exclusive to spoiled kids. The belief that you deserve special treatment or recognition for something you haven't earned can be quite universal.
And the subreddit which we will call 'Entitled Batch' can prove it — this online community is dedicated to shaming people who think they can always get their own way and are better than everyone else.
The moderators, however, point out in its 'About' section that the sub "in no way intends to spread hate or abuse or to offend any party, it was created for story sharing and entertainment."
Since its inception in December 2018, it has amassed quite the collection. Here are some of the most popular posts that have appeared on the sub since our last publication on it.

If a person isn't behaving as badly as these folks and you aren't sure whether they might have a sense of entitlement, experts suggest going through the following characteristics and seeing if they apply:
- People with a sense of entitlement expect to get preferential treatment and special favors in life, without regard for why they should be treated specially. They assume "the world owes me." For instance, they might feel that the policies of an organization should not apply to them because they should be treated with special favors.
- Regardless of what they have, they strongly believe that they deserve more. They expect to elevate their lifestyle above that of others without putting in the effort needed to do so.

- When they reach a certain level of success, they feel that everyone should bend over backward to help them. If someone has a problem with them or does not agree with what they are doing, they will try to make the other party feel as if they are wrong and that it is a horrible thing to disagree with them.
- Their personal needs come before everyone else's needs. They believe that it is your job to ensure they have everything they need, even if this means that you have to sacrifice taking care of yourself.

- They're very dramatic when something does not go their way. In these cases, they might try to make themselves look better by bringing you down.
- They are not grateful for what they have in their life. A person with a sense of entitlement may not say thank you or show other signs of appreciation for what they have. This is because they believe it is their right to have everything, so they don't value anything.
Karen Was Offended By Children's Laughter On Her Walk
I never understood HOAs. I don't think I ever will. Especially in "the land of the free".
sorry sir your house is one hexidecimal digit off from the correct colour and the nails on your fence are too wide we are going to have to tear down the whole building
Load More Replies...Why does anyone ever EVER want to live somewhere with an HOA? Get f**ked.
Some ass reported and complained about a bird feeder my mom has had hanging on her tree for over 50 years. She is disabled, so she sits in her window and watches the birds - it's just about been her spot of Light all these years. Someone who just moved into the area and jogs, in his bare feet, reported it because there were a few seeds on the public sidewalk, usually just from the wind or a squirrel as the feeder was well away from the sidewalk. It broke her heart. Luckily the guy moved and she was able to put it back up. Some people don't realize that their entitled actions that are all about them often hurts a lot of people.
Oh no! There's a few half-eaten seeds on the sidewalk that will become fully eaten in due time! This is a war crime and must be punished!
Load More Replies...Because it's an HOA. HOA's are very restrictive to home owners.... can't paint your house a colour that's not approved, yard needs to look a certain way, can't build certain things on your property, etc.
Load More Replies...Sorry, no sympathy for people who willingly buy in an HOA. You knew what you were getting into.
It's not always so simple. Depending on the market the only home you can afford might be in an HOA. That’s what happened to a friend of mine when she moved back o Michigan to live near to her elderly parents.
Load More Replies...A treefort forbidden in the own backyard?? I understandand and aprove building regulations, I know how countries look like that don't enforce them, but a treefort???
My son put a trampoline in his yard ,age appropriate for his children. The next door neighbor was incensed her much younger child couldn't use it so she went to the hoa. Had to take it down.
This is why I will never again move into a neighborhood that has a HOA. Petty tyrants, always got their noses in your business.
I will NOT have children's laughter, in their own damn yard, ruin my walk. I'll take every child down, mark my word.
HOAs need to go away. Can't understand why people put up with them, friggin Nazis is all they are. And you're paying for that "privilege", that's f'd up
Wish my HOA was that strident. I live in a townhouse condo community. There is a family 3 units down with 2 young children. Kids laughing & playing is one thing, but these f*cking little monsters do nothing but SCREAM - ALL DAY LONG. I'm mean it seriously sounds like someone is torturing them. I've been tempted to record it & blast it outside their parents' bedroom window at 2:00am.
I’ve lived in 4 communities/subdivisions which have HOAs. Some have been great. My current one does little more than collect the money once a year and pay the guy who mows the grass in the common area. I’ve found several common threads with people who complain about them. #1. Their realtor failed to tell them there was an HOA. #2. They knew there was an HOA when they bought, but failed to read it. #3. They are people who don’t like rules…period!
Complainers, complainers, complainers. They all need to get a hobby. Or two.
LOL We chose to live in a HOA and love it. We have a very nice neighborhood. No junk cars in the yard, no car ports, clean streets, etc.
(chuckle) It never fails. Sooner or later, some HOA defender *always* trots out the old saw about junk cars in the yard. Well, in nearly 70 years of living in HOA-free neighborhoods, never once have any of my neighbors had a junk car, broken washing machine, old tires or what have you in their yard. And what, pray tell, is wrong with a carport?
Load More Replies...I hate HOA’s. Most of the rules they come up with would be thrown out in a heartbeat if they were taken to court. A friend of mine was told she couldn’t plant certain plants because they thought they were weeds—they were certain flowers she used for dyes when she made fabric.
Pity she couldn't Gert the name of the passerby and shame her in public.
What’s the male pronoun for a “Karen”? Men complain and whine too, in my experience.
Yup, the land of the free except for little kids laughing whilst playing
Home Owners Association. Some have people on the board who actually live in the community. Others are run by an outside company who does little more than collect your fee. There is good and bad with HOAs. I’ve lived in 4 communities who have them.
Load More Replies...People who run HOAs are generally nosy people who have little power in their lives so they run for HOA board so that they can wield power to enforce every petty issue. No thanks, I'm happy with my no HOA neighborhood.
That may be the case in some places. But there are just as many HOAs which are run entirely by an outside company.
Load More Replies...Sorry, Dave, but you knew, or at least should have known what you were getting into when you bought the house. I wouldn't live in a neighborhood with an HOA if you gave me the house and paid me to live in it.
There definitely wasnt enough passive-aggressive verbiage in his letter....
I'd have put up a huge-a** fence. Covered in mirrors on the side that faces the path.
Yes, the freedom to choose is very irritating...
Load More Replies...HOAs are franchises of Hades. Who complains about a treehouse? On someone else's property, no less. We need to separate the country into A$$holes and non A$$oles. The formers can all go live in their own areas reporting each other all day.
Nowhere is the note does it state that it was private property. And if it wasn't and this guy has Malcolm in the Middle kids that were destroyIng my afternoon solitude DAY after DAY.... during a pandemic.... *shudder*
Load More Replies...why does HOA have such power? I mean if it's my property I can do pretty much whatever the f*** I want on it, within legal limits and code etc.
When you move into a neighborhood with an HOA, you sign a legally binding agreement to abide by the HOA's rules and regulations. If you refuse to sign, you won't be allowed to buy the house.
Load More Replies...all of this for few boomer who hate everything. and people keep wondering why kids don't go out anymore...
I get annoyed at a kids being kids sometimes, and when I do I try to think of this joke- https://vimeo.com/163326425
I get it, but if it was supposed to be there the HOA wouldn't have had them take it down. The homeowner was in the wrong.
When I moved to the USA, I was staggered to learn about HOAs (home owners associations) in the land that proclaims itself the freest of all free things. It's ridiculous what these organizations do. I made sure never to live in a neighbourhood that had one. Don't tell me what I can do on my own property! This includes things like what colour your front door can be, what plants you have in the garden, how often you have to mow the lawn, what decorations you can and can't have, how and when you have to display the American flag... the list is endless.
Oh My
I Guess She Got The Answer
Well when common sense goes out the window, there's always Twitter polls.
- A sense of entitlement tends to be spread across their entire life. Someone who acts this way about one thing is likely to act the same way in other situations as well. They may be greedy or will take friends for granted instead of being appreciative.
- They act like victims and blame other people or outside forces for their problems. Again, someone with this attitude believes the world owes them and that other people are responsible for making their lives better.
But if you read through the list and remain unsure, look them up on the subreddit 'Entitled Batch'. If they're not here, maybe they aren't that bad, eh?

This isn't entitlement. This is bitterness that some waste vast amounts of money on stupid things while others go homeless and hungry. This is just being angry at the unfairness of life.

No, actually, no. Because these are prime examples of how we all are very much the same and just live in our own bubble. And it's good for people that live in very mediocre bubbles to see that other bubbles exist that are a whole lot different (and a lot less prevalent we hope). Just because it is not to your comfort, doesn't mean it can't actually grow your own sense of empathy towards others. And if it's too much. Skip it. But I can assure you there's a reason you didn't. These are wonderful examples to see how "most" people react to situations like these and how people that act like that are the ones to stand out from the masses. You are looking for confirmation and you got it.

I am honestly not sure if there are more entitled people living now. Or is it we are more hyperconnected and can share this surreal existence in real time.
Waiting at the dealership for my car service, sitting reading a magazine. I guess I "thought" people knew that a magazine, open and face-down in the chair means that I've gone to the restroom. I come back, guy's sitting in the chair reading the exact article I had been reading. Yes, there were numerous other seats without open magazines in them. I realize I expect too much.
..more and more BP articles are negative.. what happened to the uplifting ?.. every article now is about someone calling someone else out for shameful behavior.. this article is about a bride who had a fight.. who's right?.. sigh
You chose to read this, there are still plenty of feel good articles on BP but you have gone out of your way to read something you don't like in order to post a negative comment. You are 100% what this article was about. Grow up and take some responsibility.
