A sense of entitlement is a personality characteristic that's not exclusive to spoiled kids. The belief that you deserve special treatment or recognition for something you haven't earned can be quite universal.

And the subreddit which we will call 'Entitled Batch' can prove it — this online community is dedicated to shaming people who think they can always get their own way and are better than everyone else.

The moderators, however, point out in its 'About' section that the sub "in no way intends to spread hate or abuse or to offend any party, it was created for story sharing and entertainment."

Since its inception in December 2018, it has amassed quite the collection. Here are some of the most popular posts that have appeared on the sub since our last publication on it.

If a person isn't behaving as badly as these folks and you aren't sure whether they might have a sense of entitlement, experts suggest going through the following characteristics and seeing if they apply:

  • People with a sense of entitlement expect to get preferential treatment and special favors in life, without regard for why they should be treated specially. They assume "the world owes me." For instance, they might feel that the policies of an organization should not apply to them because they should be treated with special favors.
  • Regardless of what they have, they strongly believe that they deserve more. They expect to elevate their lifestyle above that of others without putting in the effort needed to do so.

  • When they reach a certain level of success, they feel that everyone should bend over backward to help them. If someone has a problem with them or does not agree with what they are doing, they will try to make the other party feel as if they are wrong and that it is a horrible thing to disagree with them.
  • Their personal needs come before everyone else's needs. They believe that it is your job to ensure they have everything they need, even if this means that you have to sacrifice taking care of yourself.

  • They're very dramatic when something does not go their way. In these cases, they might try to make themselves look better by bringing you down.
  • They are not grateful for what they have in their life. A person with a sense of entitlement may not say thank you or show other signs of appreciation for what they have. This is because they believe it is their right to have everything, so they don't value anything.

masteromatic Report

  • A sense of entitlement tends to be spread across their entire life. Someone who acts this way about one thing is likely to act the same way in other situations as well. They may be greedy or will take friends for granted instead of being appreciative.
  • They act like victims and blame other people or outside forces for their problems. Again, someone with this attitude believes the world owes them and that other people are responsible for making their lives better.

But if you read through the list and remain unsure, look them up on the subreddit 'Entitled Batch'. If they're not here, maybe they aren't that bad, eh?

This isn't entitlement. This is bitterness that some waste vast amounts of money on stupid things while others go homeless and hungry. This is just being angry at the unfairness of life.

It's actually a far deeper question than it first appears. Extreme capitalism, selfishness, greed is pretty toxic, at the other end of the scale taking money from hard working people to give to idle people is not fair either as it destroys incentive. However, in general people attribute their financial success to their decisions and actions, and blame failure on themselves or circumstance when the reality is that randomness has a lot to do with how we end up in life. The thing about human nature is that greed has no limits, and many feel that they deserve their pound of flesh.

Why tf does the average middle class person owe someone their money? Go after the people who have millions and billions to burn, who pay little to nothing in taxes, not the guy who made a novelty room in his basement. I'm so tired of entitled a**holes whining for others to give them their money.

She must be in another country than the USA. How did someone lose their home in a country that had a Mortgage/Rent Moratorium? People couldn't be evicted and Banks were given money to offset Mortgages that were on hold. Doesn't make sense....

I may be wrong, but it looks like he built a "pseudo video store" in his basement, i.e. just for the heck of it, like a silly man cave. I mean, who physically rents/buys videos anymore?! Seems like a goofy project just to pass the time during lockdown. The comment on the bottom, I think is from a different person, not his wife. The part, "kept me in my home", doesn't sound like they are a couple.  The entitlement is a complete stranger wanting this guy's money. The wife doesn't sound unhappy about it. In any case, no, a complete stranger is not entitled to money for a project that kept the husband occupied during the pandemic, even if he built it for poops and Chuckles.

It's funny that when it's current, most people are like, "Oh, don't be jealous of the rich people," and "They have a right to spend their money however," (which is of course true). But then probably the same people love A Christman Carol and think it was horrible when they watch something from long ago where there were people living in poverty while someone else was being utterly frivolous and wasteful. I agree with Helen Haley - it's more about the unfairness.

hmm if I am reading this right, he built a video store in "our" basement, which suggests their marital home. She (presumably) then says "that kind of money... kept me in my home"... meaning she lives somewhere else. So my deduction is she's divorced and lost her home during covid, and instead of paying her maintenance/alimony, the husband built a fake movie store in the house that he got to keep in the divorce settlement. That being the case, the question really is whether the divorce settlement provided for spousal support or not. If it did not, then he's NTA. If it did provide for spousal support, then he is probably TA.

as i read it, it's just a random woman replying to someone else's TikTok, it's not her husband, it's just some random man who's used his money on a project in his basement, while she thinks this money should have been given to her, i guess?
