I mean, is there a better way of getting your daily dose of whahahahahahaha if not judging others for their mistakes? Bored Panda has prepared another bad design list for you, poking fun at some of the most ridiculous projects that saw the light of day. So we've seen the consequences of bad design ideas, so what makes for good design? There are a few basic principles to stick to if you want to make sure your design is practical, relevant and makes sense!
According to Dieter Rams, a German industrial designer who was responsible for the design of Braun’s consumer products for many years, there are 10 principles of good product design, also known as the '10 commandments.' Even though they were written long ago and technology has advanced beyond his wildest dreams, Dieter's principles still apply today!

Furniture designers Vitsoe have worked closely with Dieter Rams for decades, and helpfully summarize his founding principles of good design with the following explanations:
Good design is innovative The possibilities for innovation are not, by any means, exhausted. Technological development is always offering new opportunities for innovative design. But innovative design always develops in tandem with innovative technology, and can never be an end in itself.
Good design makes a product useful: A product is bought to be used. It has to satisfy certain criteria, not only functional, but also psychological and aesthetic. Good design emphasizes the usefulness of a product whilst disregarding anything that could possibly detract from it.
Good design is aesthetic: The aesthetic quality of a product is integral to its usefulness because products we use every day affect our person and our well-being. But only well-executed objects can be beautiful.

Good design is thorough down to the last detail: Nothing must be arbitrary or left to chance. Care and accuracy in the design process show respect towards the user.
Good design is environmentally-friendly: Design makes an important contribution to the preservation of the environment. It conserves resources and minimizes physical and visual pollution throughout the lifecycle of the product.
Good design is as little design as possible: Less, but better – because it concentrates on the essential aspects, and the products are not burdened with non-essentials. Back to purity, back to simplicity.
So three you have it, pretty simple right? If you are tasked with designing something and want to avoid the hilarious mistakes found in this list, check these principles off first and you should succeed!

Who Thought This Placement Would Be A Good Idea?
I truly laughed at this one! So ridiculous! I almost want it in my house in a weird way.
Me too! My cats would love chasing each other around there!!
Load More Replies...Just for fun I´d paint it in blue and make it look like the TARDIS from Doctor Who.
It is so out of place, you need to paint it up to look like the TARDIS. That is the ONLY way to salvage this.
Oh! Brilliant idea! *rushes out to buy blue paint for her own fridge*
Load More Replies...Just like that, yeah I ca see it being ridiculous but I won't fully judge without seeing the full floor plan. Though it was used as a "supporting wall" piece then I could see it being much better just for that.
Supporting wall? It does not even touch the ceiling.
Load More Replies...I was thinking that too. I’ve been playing sims4 way too much recently though

Do you really need the 'case' around it? Heh heh just stick a fridge anywhere.
What I think happened: Person 1: "I think we got everything!" Person 2: "We forgot a space for the fridge." Person 1: "What if... We put the fridge in the middle of the room but build a wall around it so it looks like it's meant to be there?" Person 2: "It's either that or we'll have to reorganize all the furniture." Person 1: "The middle of the room it is."
Although it's odd, I much prefer it there than at the end of the counter, closing off the kitchen from the other room.
i once saw a house that had a toilet in the middle of the floor in the basement with only a curtain for privacy.
When you forget to leave some space for a fridge when modeling your kitchen, so you have to improvise afterwards.
Maybe the kitchen is so bad that the fridge is trying to leave, very slowly. Running in more ways than one. :-)
The doorway is facing the wrong way, it's an instilation problem+easy to rectify
And they even left space on top to put dangling ivy and vases! Oh Boy!
It’s an up and coming architectural style call “TheFuk” growing in popularity around the world
Actually, if you put a lot of pots with trailing plants on the top, you'll get a decorative pillar instead of this disaster. Won't save the kitchen but at least it will look less ridiculous.
Imagine getting up for a glass of water during the night, in the dark, and forgetting it was there. A stubbed toe moment...? Maybe even a broken nose?
Well if the whole box was on wheels it would at least be functional. Having a big party? Let's just move this pesky fridge to the bedroom. ;)
I like it. It meets the needs if the kitchen triangle. It should be built more to the size of the refrigerator , allowing for the needed air flow. Also, the area was wasted space, so why not put it to good use?.
Never mind the fridge, is that the microwave perched above the cooking range? I wouldn't call it a good idea with steaming pots underneath it.
Well if you have kids you can put their drawing/photos/certificates etc there. Or simply use it as a gallery of family photos. Would be cool as hell
Apart from the stupidity of enclosing a fridge ( fridges need to discharge warm air and enclosing it like this reduces efficiency )
I would love to see a floor plan. This could actually be increase efficiency. So long as that door we can just see is not into the toilet. Hate that kitchen and toilet should be separated by two doors.

I'm sure its behind the fridge. You can't see it. The cables run through the floor.
Load More Replies...Looks like it was going to be a lift shaft and the buyers didn't want to pay for a private lift? (Elevator for the Americans!)
An elevator in the kitchen? Wrong. Most Americans live in one or two story houses. By law, public buildings in America have to have ramps and elevators so disabled people can have access. What kind of cruel country do you live in that someone in a wheelchair can't get to the second floor and above?
I was trying to reply to Alexandra Davis' comment about Americans below.

You cant report a comment. Yes there are some trolls here that make rude comments, we just ignore them and go on.

How some of these ever came to be successfully made is with out a doubt an inverted miracle. That's why it's always good to attend/employ sex ed programs in high school, hire an accredited artist/designer & leave the specifics decisions to marketing, advertising, developer teams & engineering. :-)
