Countries might be loosening lockdown restrictions, but the coronavirus hasn’t gone away. There are a total of 10.3 million confirmed cases of infected worldwide and 2.59 million of these are in the United States alone, according to Johns Hopkins University. Brazil stands in second place with over 1.37 million cases while Russia has 640k confirmed infections. Meanwhile, India has nearly 567k cases, and the United Kingdom has 313k.

A lot of people are asking the question: why is America number 1 in the world when it comes to Covid-19 infections? It’s a complicated issue with no easy answers. However, some people on the internet are posting anecdotal evidence about how "bad" some Americans are with following coronavirus guidelines. Scroll down to have a look, dear Pandas, and upvote your faves. Oh, and keep in mind that different sources provide slightly different numbers of people who have been infected with the virus.

You can see up-to-date details about the coronavirus pandemic by visiting the Johns Hopkins University Covid-19 dashboard right here. It’s a great tool to use for more in-depth understanding and wider context on this health crisis.

Just to keep you on your toes, you ought to know that scientists in China have identified a new strain of flu that has the potential to become a new pandemic.

The new flu strain is carried by pigs but, according to researchers, it can infect human beings, too. There are fears that the strain could mutate even more and easily spread from human to human.

I agree that the medical staff needs better gear and equipment to fight this pandemic and I know that I might get trashed here but I think addressing police as killers is wrong, not every cop is a killer, most of them try to keep us safe.

If most of them were good cops, the bad cops would have been thrown out of the force years ago. All reports indicate that bad cops run the show and good cops leave the force out of frustration . How else would you explain the decades of policy brutality and bullying of civilians. Search YT for police brutality. There are numerous video's of cops overstepping their powers, harassing people and acting like total jerks. It's because they know that their superiors will make any complaint disappear.

It's not about the amount of equipment, it's about how that equipment is put to use. I recall a story from 2015 about 4 Swedish cops visiting New York calmly and professionally breaking up a fight between two people on the subway. I imagine if they were american cops, both people would have been tasered without a thought.

I agree with what you say but I am sure you might be aware of the many situations, not specifically in America, where the cops could not have controlled the situation without such equipments and no one knows when such situation will arise so it is not the govt.'s fault per se, it is the fault it the judgement of the person using it and we all know not everyone is alike.

@Minh Le It is a fair comparison. It just shows our governments' priorities. It happened in many countries, true, but it doesn't make it less serious or less sad.

Jeez, there are a lot of ignorant comments on this post. In the U.S., Black men have a 1 in 1,000 of being killed by a police officer. There's considerably less training required to be a cop than a barber. We fund policing exorbitantly but still don't have affordable healthcare. Clearly, there are giant problems in our systems. Ignoring them isn't fixing anything.

Every industry isn't funded by taxpayers. Every industry doesn't cause the deaths of 1 in 1,000 Black men.

Why are hospitals and doctors charging tens of thousands of dollars and up for Healthcare yetvthey have no ppe? My sons high risk birth cost my insurance almost $400,000 in total. That wouldn't happen in other countries. Hospitals gouge patients. They have money. That money is being put into corporate CEOs vs equipment for staff

I'm pretty sure emergency room workers are worried about getting shot at and thrown things at. The police aren't wearing that gear to be protected from Covid. Stupid comparison.

The U.S. is in the middle of a meth epidemic, in addition to an opioid epidemic, and a pandemic of course. Most big-city ERs see multiple patients per night who are on meth and definitely throw things, fight, scream, etc. Yet, those people don't wind up dead. If ER nurses can prioritize "Do No Harm" when being threatened (which definitely wasn't in the job expectations for most of them), why can't cops?

Please correct me if I am wrong, but the police are state and/or federally funded, whereas the hospitals are all privately funded. So tax payers are paying for the police/riot officers equipment so they can be tear gassed/shot with rubber bullets, but the private medical cartel won't even supply their staff with adequate PPE to save their lives even though they charge extortionate prices for EVERYTHING...?

Why was there a shortage of medical equipment, but not a shortage of guns? Funding priorities in the US are backwards.
