Meet Dorien Bryant and Patrick Craves – an adorable Philadelphia-based couple that wants to have kids. For an obvious reason, they can’t exactly get pregnant, so they decided to do something else… They got the cutest Australian Shepherd named Asher!
Dorien Bryant is an ex-Purdue football player, who’s NFL career ended prematurely due to injuries and his not wanting to hide being gay. Now he’s happily come out and in love with the handsome Patrick Craves. Don’t they both just look so genuinely happy together?

I don't really get the article... My bf and I don't have kids either and we have three cats. Like a LOT of same sex couple who have cats or dogs... I mean, it's cute and all, but it sounds more like self promoting than anything else...
Not sure why this is such a popular post, actually. (Although the pup is very cute) People have pets because they can't have children all the time - although it is usually sneered upon.
Probably because the guys are good looking, the puppy is extremely cute, and because they have the same sex? It is the combination of things mixed with the typical readership of Bored Panda...

Just a bit of trivia - Australian Shepherds have nothing to do with Australia. I wonder where the name comes from?
The dog's lineage is from Basque immigrants to Australia, who then brought the dogs here. Those dogs were bred here in the US to become Australian Shepherds.

This dog hit the jackpot with wonderful parents! Being parents to pets is sometimes wiser than real children! Kids grow up and are a huge responsibility and require a great deal of sacrifice. Animals are like little kids and stay that way! Don't get me wrong, having children is a blessing. But being a pet parent can be so rewarding and joyous.
What a cute and handsome couple! You guys would be lovely parents for a child too, so adopting a child in the future would be amazing! Congrats for your new baby! You look a very happy family all together and I wish you all the best!
I think this was posted to help bring more light to the gay community and show how just because your gay doesn't make you different. Too many people have there noses in a bible instead of looking around. I'm glad that they posted this the more awareness the less homophobia. I hope one day everyone will be excepted no matter what or who they are

I think this article ays a lot. Maybe they are not ready to adopt a human. By adopting a animal (dog), they are keeping the over population problem in check "kinda-sorta". Now if everybody would adopt a pet or human instead of narcissistically having their own, we would be on the road to reducing the over populated world. Of course this isn't the answer to all to the over population problem, but it's a start.

You should get a surrogate. Nothing should stop you from becoming parents. I wanted to become a surrogate and I've had 2 children myself but I was told I couldn't even though I'm only 32. I loved being pregnant but just because one of YOU can't be pregnant shouldn't stop you from becoming incredible parents.
How about adopting a suffering child from an orphanage instead, and save their lives?!
