Cosplay has become a massive cultural phenomenon in the past decades, giving rise to a slew of events and conventions dedicated solely to costume play. Every year, millions of fans gather wearing costumes of their favorite characters from anime and television series, video games, comic books, and movies. Comic Con is one such event, having started off as a comic book convention and today celebrating all forms of media and entertainment in pop culture, especially cosplay. Check out the best of the best cosplayers from this year’s Comic Con New York.
Bored Panda also got in touch with Nick Roman, one of the participants of Comic Con New York. Nick is a content creator for the YouTube reviews channel RegularCars as well as the man behind his personal video project Limited Time Roman. His fascination for cosplay is what brought him to Comic Con this year (where, by the way, Nick was sporting a suit and a Sony Pictures t-shirt as his cosplay).
Nick was also kind enough to provide us with his photos featured in this article.

Hercules (Disney)
Barbara And Adam (Bettlejuice)
Nick’s first experience with Comic Con was back in 2014 (also in New York) when he was working as a writer for Rickey.org. “I had press obligations at the time and so I ended up spending much of my day in the interview area, speaking with casts from various programs and typing up articles. So I didn't get to wander the convention floor as much as I might have liked. But I loved that experience, and it's what ignited my fandom for comic conventions.”
Newton Scamander (Fantastic Beasts)
Nebula (Marvel)
so if nebula is driving the ship do you say "metal to the pedal" instead of "pedal to the metal"
According to Nick, this year’s Comic Con New York was far more chaotic than most due to the bigger attendance, but still very exciting. “It feels like more of a community when people turn out in big numbers, even if it can get cramped. Then again, I'm typically there to just look at cool cosplay and make videos.”
Cinderella And Deadpool
Alien
When asked about the most exciting thing about conventions like Comic Con, Nick expressed his vast interest in cosplay: “I love the cosplay. The creativity and ingenuity of cosplayers is something that will never cease to impress me.”
Meg (Disney)
Mr. T
“I found the Savitar outfit from The Flash Season 3 particularly impressive, along with the Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask cosplay.” continued Nick. “There were also some clever outfits like the Rick Roll YouTube costume and Adam Savage's No Face outfit.” All of these cosplays are featured in this article.
Thor (Marvel)
Rick Astley
You can find Nick on Instagram and Twitter under the tag theromannick. He will also be publishing his own Comic Con New York video on both YouTube Channels that he’s a part of.
Harley Quinn and The Joker (DC)
John Wick

Wait, so does that mean she didn't make it herself, just bought a full costume?
Load More Replies...Lovely lady and all, but.... This is only Poison Ivy in title. What's up with Jesus's Mom's crown of roses? The veil cape? She looks like a dollar store threw up on some H&M tights. I'll take the downvotes to defend the honor of my favorite villain of all time. Ivy is badass, not a piece of a*s.
I made the costume in style of Art Nouveau... hence the crown of thorns and flowing Cape. Depending on the illustrator, the rest of the costume is pretty true to form. Some illustrators draw her in a body suit, but others she's wearing a two piece, or something very revealing. I designed the leaves because I imagined someone who crowned herself to be mother nature to have plants look like they are spouting from her as if she is literally creating life. So many people do the basic leaf bodysuit as typically seen in the cartoons. I wanted to do something different, which is also why I used actual moss and leaves on this costume. And don't worry. She's still a badass, even if she is showing some skin.

Before you complain that these cosplays aren't good quality, you have to remember most cosplayers make their own costumes with their time, money, space, & supplies. You know when you watch a movie & the credits show how many people took care of costumes, makeup, hair, accessories, & special effects? That's what cosplayers do, usually with a tiny budget & not a lot of training. Keep that in mind before you jump down their throats & insult their costumes.
No complaints, they are all freaking awesome!! Hard to pick a favourite!
Load More Replies...All of these are cool and all but just think about how hard it was for these people to go to the restroom
I don't watch some of the shows/movies that are involved, but I surely can appreciate the time, effort and dedication that went in to the costumes. Some are downright amazing!
