There hasn’t been a great deal of good news and happy stories recently. With 860,793 coronavirus cases and 42,324 deaths confirmed globally, it’s getting hard to keep our spirits up. Plus, coronapocalypse hermits are exhausting toilet paper supplies, and it feels like we’re a step away from utter chaos.
But not so fast! These wholesome pieces of corona news are here to restore our faith in humanity. Bored Panda has compiled a list of the most wholesome and truly feel-good stories that prove love and kindness do exist in these hard times. And because there can’t be too much of a good thing, take a look at our previous joyful news compilations: part 1 and part 2. Feelin' your heart meltin' already? While you’re quarantined and working from home, your community still needs some help. Bored Panda contacted Marlena Hartz, the director of communications at the nonprofit organization GlobalGiving. She told us that, fortunately, people are happy helping others during the crisis. “Our data shows that giving continues to be strong right now, and people are responding generously to help those in need.” GlobalGiving runs a Coronavirus Relief Fund that has already raised more than $1 million.
But Marlena warns that “many nonprofits in our communities are struggling to survive in the time of the coronavirus, with lost revenue from fundraising events, sudden technology needs, and an increase in demand for help from people who need food, access to health care, and more.” Thus it’s very important to raise your voice for those in need on social media. If you have the means, consider making a donation to the nonprofit of your choice.
Marlena finds it inspiring to see an outpouring of support on social media for stopping Covid-19. “People are so creative. From this hand-washing parody to celebrity giving challenges, we're continually surprised and overjoyed by the ingenuity and kindness of these good people in the midst of this global crisis.”
And some people are making heartwarming donations without having much themselves. Marlena recounted the moment when Jacqueline, a nonprofit founder herself, made a generous gift to Coronavirus Relief Fund. “She said she does not ‘know what tomorrow holds’ for her nonprofit, but 'she told us that she gives not because she has much, but because she understands what it means to have nothing.'”

Another way to help is supporting your local businesses. Find out if you are able to make a purchase online, which is a caring gesture amid these trying times. Many bars and restaurants have also been forced to shut down for quarantine. Consider buying gift cards for your friends and family.
San Antonio restaurant owner Steve McHugh explained that “gift cards are like interest-free loans.” The income from gift card purchases is seed money for many eateries that may help get them up and running after the crisis is over.
In the end, it all comes down to simple things—sharing food and other supplies with your neighbors or checking on how everyone is doing with a quick call. There is so much we could all do without setting foot outside our homes.

It is an Australian thing. We mostly either wear thongs or just go bare feet. Our soles are quite strong. It is coming into winter, it is only 25 degrees in Brisbane right now! (78 degrees Fahrenheit) this is quite common for people to dress like this. The only crime is socks and thongs!

My school gives away free meals every day for people who can’t get food. I have a family of 6 and my dad is recovering from surgery and my mom gets low pay, so we really appreciate the school. Thank you to everyone who helps during this pandemic. I know everyone appreciates it.

I was driving out from Costco and I saw the homeless man who stands on the corner there asking for work to earn money. I rolled down my window and I told him to come over. He came up, I reached in my pocket and handed him a $50 bill. He started saying "thank you" but gasped halfway through. He said "Are you sure?!" I said "Absolutely...you need to take care of yourself too." Through a shaky voice he said "Bless you ma'am!" I said "You stay safe" and I pulled up to the stoplight and looked in the side mirror as he returned to his corner. He then folded his sign and turned away from the line of cars behind me and I could see he was crying. Remember that there are people out there with no place to go and no resources. Help where you can!

This doesn't surprise me. The Nepalese people are very generous and welcoming. If I had to be stuck somewhere, Nepal would be a pretty good place!

Our neighbour doesn't have Wi-Fi, so we talked her through joining ours. Once on she received 70 messages from her children living overseas
A lot of us don't realize how important internet access is. The other day, bad storms blew through my town and knocked out not only my power but also my Internet service. Power was restored in a few hours, but I had to summon a technician to restore my Internet connection. Normally, I would go to the nearby library - walking distance, yay - and use their service; but thanks to COVID-19 they were closed so I had to mooch off a nearby McDonald's. I did buy some coffee there, though.

My Great-Uncle visits his wife every day. She's in an Assisted Living facility as she has Alzheimer's, so he can't go in right now for safety reasons. That doesn't stop him from showing his endearing love

This is a really good idea and it will be around even after this is over.
I bought a bunch of masks and then discovered I had leftover from when I was caring for my mother in law. So I donated what I bought to the local EMT's. They said they had enough..but then said that the Sheriff's department had been running low on gloves and masks. Don't forget about first responders. Crimes still happen during a lockdown and they have no choice but to run into the fire sometimes.

Not that we mind being called Serbia, but that is a picture of my city of Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The picture was posted by our mayor to thank people for working with the city to contain the virus. We are actually doing good, people follow the rules a lot, not many are sick and people who lost their jobs or need help are being taken care of. Our government is, for once, doing a really good job.

I Swedish company is borrowing our once again bankrupt factory to make free disinfecting for the nursinghome and stores. set up in 2 days and produced 800l at it and can now produce atleast 10k liter if needed. They are mainly using saltwater from what my dad told me and since we are in a fjord we will not be run out of that. Stay safe folks!
I cant share a photo because it's a sound. But on the 26th of March the whole of the UK stood outside at 8pm and clapped the NHS workers who are ABSOLUTE BOSSES every day and it was MAGICAL. You could hear the cheering and clapping ringing out in the air. Our NHS means the world to us, we hope there is change and its looked after better because of this x x x

If we take of each other and ourselves we will get through this. Take care of yourself, your family, and the people you come across and I will be praying for you.
My neighbours are really really old, and are in serious danger of this. Their kids have died, and one of them has cancer. The whole street (without realising the rest are doing it) has been dropping toilet paper, food, and notes on their doorstep. We all only realised that we were all doing it when one day they hadn’t picked it up yet. Now we have organised.

People are sewing masks and donating them to hospitals , some of them also donated fabric, sewing machines, etc. Restaurants are making free food for people in need ( and for doctors and nurses). Volunteers buy groceries for people in quarantine. Maybe you're not a doctor. But you can still do something to help.
I've seen a bunch of YouTubers designing and making their own masks and most of them are have been agreed upon by doctors and nurses... I may try to make some.

I really like some of the landlord understand the situations and not act like they don't give a f**k. That doctor in Wuhan with that patient in bed watching the sun that really heartbreaking, and the customer left $2500 tips, and some of the people are helping people in needs are truly amazing.
After thoroughly disinfecting the jars, packing materials, and outside of the package with a bleach/detergent combo I mailed several jars of my home-made CBD balm to my 95 y.o. friend (and landlord since 1982) in his board and care home. When he asked how much he should pay, I said, "You've already paid me by being my friend."
This is how we should all be treating our neighbors and others. I hope it continues even after this mess is over.

Imagine a world where world news and media organisation covered good news... we wouldn't be as stressed out and angry as we are now... we would be happy and optimistic as most of us are trying to be at the moment.

All these stories just made me want to cry. Why can't we have a segment on mainstream news channels showing these everyday heroes on a regular basis? It will uplift, inspire and encourage people to do better. Instead we are always bombarded with coverage of certain politicians who seem to thrive on fostering division and hatred. I'm just tired of it all.
Thank you so, so much for sharing this... This period is probably hard on everyone and even harder for some. I was getting quite depressed of seeing posts of how bad the worst of us can be. Thanks for sharing how good the best of us can be <3
nope. unfortunately, people can be horrible even if they perform a good action. They can still make terrible decisions.
The best way to break a bad habit is to start a good habit; to replace the bad one. Not everyone who does good deeds is a good person, but it is a step in the right direction. Some people just need a wake up call to stop being selfish and to start thinking of others. For a lot of people, this pandemic is their wake up call. I didn't really think about how infrequently I check on my neighbors until I started actively distancing myself from people because of the virus. How is old Bob, down the street? I don't know; I haven't seen him since Christmas. I should be a better neighbor and check on Bob sometimes. Obviously, I shouldn't go visit Bob right now; but, I could leave him a card with my number to let him know I care about him.
