#FlattenTheCurve—this is one of the trending hashtags on the Internet. Amid the ongoing crisis and chaos of coronavirus, medical officials are doing everything in their power to slow down the spread of the virus. In the scientific field, it is expressed as flattening the curve—slowing the spread of infection, which can be almost as important as stopping it altogether. Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told people during a White House briefing: “What we need to do is flatten that down. You do that with trying to interfere with the natural flow of the outbreak."
The concept behind "flattening the curve" is simple: if everyone gets infected at the same time, hospitals won't be able to care for all the people who will eventually die without the treatment. So if everyone adheres to the recommendations laid out to avoid spreading the virus and “flatten” the infection numbers on any given day, medics will have a greater chance of giving all patients the help that they need.
Using the #FlattenTheCurve hashtag, people are sharing informative yet easy-to-digest infographics on coronavirus. I'm walking my dog at 4:30am and have not seen another person out that early. As an introvert, I'm in Heaven. It's been wonderful - so beautiful and peaceful outside.
Ok, here is an important information many ppl seem not to be aware of: Delivery is not done by magic, it is done by actual, breathing ppl who also just want to be save and protect others (WOW, mind blowing!). So PLEASE remember that when you are bored but still too lazy to watch one of the few million online tutorials about how to cook your meals by youself. Same thing with Amazon and others. More deliveries = more danger to spread the virus Sorry, but that bothers me so much So have a nice, chill day on your couch or kitchen and stay save :)
Food deliveries have been left at the door for over a week already where I live, which is not causing any problems.
businesses need to be supported. the restaurants and cafes here are delivering only, and disinfecting almost constantly. I will be happy to order delivery.
Load More Replies...Use technology where possible - most meetings don't need to be face2face.
This is actually something people are asking. Amazing just how obtuse some people can be, isn’t it?
Honestly all basic information that everyone should know by now - but sadly don't.
Yep - the problem with common sense is it's anything but common.
scary shit now has reached my state-businesses are closing early (even some 24 hr places) or for 2 wks-30 days. no tp, hand sanitizer, disinfectant; many food items are out and spring break is extended for my hs and college girls
Yep. This panic buying is so unnecessary. I think these guidelines are especially important for older people and immune-compromised people, but it's still really good practice to stay away from crowds right now, and to constantly wash your hands etc. If not for yourself, but for the protection of others.
Same--nonessential businesses have been ordered to close, and essential businesses (grocery stores, pharmacies, big-box stores) are cutting their hours. I understand why it makes sense not to flood the stores and buy everything all at once, but it's hard to see empty shelves and not worry about whether the products will be available again by the time I need them.
A regional gathering I had hoped to attend got cancelled. I was heartbroken, but I understand. I'll just have to wait till next year to see those folks.
Moms with kids at home.. don't take them to the park playground to play with 100 other kids.. they may not get sick, but they may kill grandma.
Avoid gathering, always. Avoid hairdressers, gym, parties.
Oh. I guess I can’t have dinner with me, myself and I.
What about bookstores? Also how long will this last?
Don't panic. Some bookstores are starting to make deliveries (just like restaurants etc.). No one knows for sure 100%. Nothing in life is certain (except for death ... and taxes)
Lol taxes
1. You can buy books on amazon and some other online shops. 2. Nobody knows how long this will last, I think it will be over by autumn because the virus will have had over 6 months to die.
Yes, and they will deliver it in a month. Maybe. Otherwise you'll get your money back and no books...
If people actually need this kind of guide I guess humanity is doomed.
