Indeed, a dog does not care whether you are a successful person or not, how much money you earn or what kind of car you've got. It will stay with you in joy and sorrow, and will do its best to make you feel good, because you are its best friend.
And so does yours. Never understood that until I had my first rescue.
Also, if you're prepared for and committed to getting a dog, please adopt from a shelter. If you're going to be gone 10 hours a day for work, get a cat.

I knew it was silly, but I felt guilty "replacing" my dog. I got a rescue and it felt like honoring my dog- not replacing her.
Don't need studies to know that... I've nested a pup in my hair, doesn't matter what anyone says, I'm still his mum. And he's my furever baby.

Rescue dogs are amazing. I had two rescue pitties. One has sadly passed but the other is still with us.

I went on a 5 day trip recently to visit family. Our two dogs were at home with my husband and son, but my husband told me they sat in the kitchen every day that I was gone, watching out the window for my return. I love those guys so much. My husband and son are great too! ☺️

See! This is why I keep saying that crimes against dogs should be like crimes against people! Someone steals your dog, they should be punished for kidnapping - not "property theft." It should be the equivalent of murder when police come onto your property without warning and shoot your dog because you weren't given the opportunity to safely restrain it. It should be treated like child abuse when you beat a your dog or drop it in the middle of nowhere. My dogs are the sweetest beings I could ever hope to know... they're my babies... and if something were ever to happen to them, my whole world would be crushed. Why shouldn't people be punished to the degree of the heartbreak they cause? Seriously.
I love my cat dearly, but after I lost my Lucy Loo, I just couldn't get another dog. Seeing this, I realize how much I'd love one again, but where I'm moving I can't because it's a sheep farm and it's working dogs only. No, I can be friends with them. They're there to "work". But I love my kitty like crazy.
