Load More Replies...Does the person on the left not just have light brown blinds? I have blinds that look just like this in my home and I certainly do not smoke inside!
Left: wood blinder Right: white sheet i see nothing wrong in this pic
I remember when I was younger, back when you could smoke anywhere, apartment hunting and seeing yellow-brown tar and nicotine stains on walls, generally in apartments that smelled heavily of smoke. Those were places I crossed off my list, as it takes forever to get those stains off the walls and windows, and the smell out of the house. A smoker friend gave me a chair of hers that I liked the design of when she redecorated. Though I still loved the design, I ended up taking the chair to Goodwill, because it stunk up my whole house, and nothing I did could get that smell out. (Sorry, Goodwill...)
Coffee and baking soda and charcoal can help a lot. And primer made for severe smoke damage. We had to do that to every room in this house! And tore the carpet out. Lost leather gloves to gasoline spill smell. Nothing workedn
Load More Replies...One of many things that made me choose not to smoke was the Body World exhibit. (The one where an artist has done human taxidermy, but it's tasteful/tactful.) Yeah, people can show you pamphlets and photos, but it's nothing like actually SEEING a smoker's lung in person. I was 15, I think. Anyway, young enough that I didn't know your lungs are "hairy" on the inside. The smoker's lung looked dead. No other way to describe it. It was smooth, and black/white. Lungs are normally a maroon/purple/pink. It looked liked they'd drowned in asphalt. There were also pockets of tar, puss/phlegm, and other nastiness. Knowing that it was REAL and nothing had been done to it (except to preserve it) was enough to never want that inside me.
the so called smokers blind in wood /bamboo blinds nothing to do with smoking !!
Holy hell I think you're right!! I mean, they still might smoke, but if you have bamboo window shades they're going to be that kind of yellow color regardless of if there's smoke stains or not.
Load More Replies...I've seen this first hand with a relative...she asked us to help her out by painting her kitchen and the (formerly white) walls were dark yellow from her chain smoking. She used to try to give us food from her freezer that she wouldn't use - we would graciously accept and then throw it away when we got home, because it REEKED of smoke - even inside the freezer. We loved her, but her smoking is what killed her, and no one could convince her to quit - she was so addicted to it that she would wheel herself out to a smoking area outside even when she was in the hospital for various illnesses - even then, she couldn't go without it. Please quit if you smoke - and if you don't, please don't start.
Congratulations! I hope you find the strength to continue!
Load More Replies...My father-in-law was a terrible smoker. My mother-in-law suffered and died because of a habit he would not quit. She worked her butt off trying to keep the air and the yellow film that was everywhere, under control. I have never ever smoked, and would instantly start to tear up and sinus cavities clog up. It this is not a perfect example what that it does to your environment, imagine what the innocents in the family are going through...and how they will suffer in the long run. DON'T START...and if you are already smoking PLEASE STOP!!!
I don't allow anybody to smoke inside my home and I don't go to places where people smoke, or get in the car with a smoker. No exceptions. People can do what they want with their lives, but I don't need to inhale that rubbish.
Load More Replies...Or … the white sheets hanging in the window is just a smoker who washes the sheets they hang in their window.
I had to clean out the house of my Mother-in-Law, who only smoked about 3-4 cigarettes a day and only in the kitchen. Washing the walls and brown water just running down the walls. Scrubbed them 3 times. Saw the dramatic color difference when I took off a switch plate and saw what color the wallpaper originally was.
Now, Image that in your lungs. And the smell of that apt..your hair, cloths, skin. plates, napkins...ew
My b/f and I redecorated his parents living room, both smokers. The brown that came off was unbelievable, bucket after bucket of dark brown water.
The smoker is exactly how my aunt's apartment looked when were moving her out. The only part of the wall that was not yellow was the parts where pictures had been hanging.
I quit smoking after I had a stroke in October of 2012. My apartment looked like the picture on the left but thanks to my sister, she got the whole place cleaned and by the time I was released December 2012.
Didn't the smoker ever see this? I used to be a smoker and never knew how bad I smelled, that is until I gave it up over 12 years ago. I tried telling my cousins that even after a shower and you light the first one up you smell. I put it more politely than that. She hasn't spoken to me for many many years. She even said that her partner said she didn't stink, (he was also a smoker). But the fact that my home stunk for a long time, I was so ashamed, and asked my non smoking friends "why didn't you say something"? I thought I was always a person that people could say anything to me, they said that they weren't sure how I would take it. It made me sad that they thought they couldn't tell me, but at the same time I understood. I said that they could tell me anything and they have lol a few times.
Imagine what the insides of a lung would look like. It takes in a lot more smoke, pathogens and nicotine than second hand smoke causes. Gross!
My Dad inherited the house when my Great Aunt passed away. She was basically something of a hermit and was only discovered because a water pipe had burst and was draining into the neighbor's yard. She'd been dead for about a week. Although she had quit smoking - she smoked for YEARS (there were still full ashtrays in the living room) the smoke damage was disgusting. We washed the walls 3 or more times, then primed them TWICE before we could paint them - which we also had to do 3 times. When we opened the drapes (the house sat on Lake Washington in Seattle, with an amazing view that she apparently never looked at) they disintegrated. Literally. They were so inundated with cigarette residue the fibers just fell apart. Even a year later, certain rooms STILL stunk of cigarettes.
So glad I quit two months ago...still, I don’t judge those who do. When I smoked, I did my best to ensure I didn’t really do it around non-smokers in public places and I wouldn’t toss the butts out of cars or on the ground.
It's the tar in the smoke that does that. Awful stuff. Think about what it does to your lungs.
Can someone please explain this to meeee i cant see any difference 😭😭😭
thats a filthy smoker. not a clean smoker. Dont be a racist. I identify as a clean smoker. Its my choice.
You can even tell which side of the window has the smoker's chair....
That’s why you should clean your windows and blinds too. Not just not smoke.
Well, I am an ex smoker here, and I will tell you that the smokers example is a BAD example. It is accurate if you are a HEAVY smoker and never clean. Also and example of just never cleaning even if you don't smoke (although smoking speeds the process). Interesting picture, good deterrent, but not entirely accurate (sorry, I am a huge believer in never lying to achieve your goal, and to make proper representations and not worst case scenario)
Experienced this in house my sister bought. Worst was under awnings above bedroom windows, right over where the beds had been.
Ok this is misleading, since the window on the right had a sheer white curtain between the window and the blind which could be the same colour as in the window on the left, but we cannot see the colour as it looks whiter because of this curtain.....possibly neither of them smoke.....possibly. Or maybe both do.
The smoker has the tan window due to, well, smoking, and the non smoker has the whiteish window.

World's Smallest Computer Compared To A Grain Of Rice
This computer measures 0.33mm on each side! According to my pal Google: "Currently, the tiny computer serves as a precision temperature sensor. It uses electronic pulses to convert temperatures into timed intervals. The result, for example, is the ability to report temperatures in a cluster of cells within a tumor with an error rate of around 0.1 degrees Celsius. 'Since the temperature sensor is small and biocompatible, we can implant it into a mouse and cancer cells grow around it,' said Gary Luker, a professor of radiology and biomedical engineering. 'We are using this temperature sensor to investigate variations in temperature within a tumor versus normal tissue and if we can use changes in temperature to determine success or failure of therapy.' https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/worlds-smallest-computer-dwarfed-by-rice-grain/

Whenever Somebody Posts A Photo Of The Milky Way, People Invariably Ask "Is That How You See It With The Naked Eye?". Here's A Representation Of What You Do See Compared To What Comes Out Of The Camera
This photo was taken at the Pinnacles Desert in Western Australia, the moon had just set below the horizon and the core of the Milky Way was rising towards the east and was at about 40 degrees. This obviously isn't a perfect representation but it's pretty close. You won't see any color as our eyes can't determine color very well in low light.
The photo you see on the left is directly out of the camera, no post processing has been done at all and you can see quite a bit of green towards the horizon and some orange and magenta hues in the core. My camera's white balance was set to auto and this is a 30 second exposure. ISO was set at 3200 and aperture was f2.8.
edit Ok it seems some people are able to distinguish color in the Milky Way and some aren't. Though it's more common to not see any color. I did quite a bit of research and almost every time this question was posed, people had varying views on what they could and couldn't see. No color - some color - lots of color. So I came to the conclusion that there are just too many variables to accurately depict what you can see, you can only approximate what the average person can see. Yes, some will see it more vividly, some will see it less vividly but the average person will see it similarly to what I showed in my photo. Oh and of course the location plays a large factor.........not everybody is able to sail 100 miles off shore to get the absolute best view possible so it's a bit pointless to use that as the standard bearer :) One other factor you should bear in mind is the technology we choose to portray these images on. Computer monitors. Again there are way too many variables at play here, especially when it comes to contrast and brightness. What I see on my computer monitor is most likely to be different to what another person sees.
