Terrified Workers Ran For Their Lives From An Approaching Pit Bull, But One Guy Knew Exactly What To Do
Construction work comes with various hazardous risks, but for a group of construction workers in Rodnia, Brazil they never anticipated the four-legged threat that walked onto their site one day. A recent video surfaced on the internet that captured the entire encounter.
It begins with a group of four workers standing around what appears to be a restaurant renovation. Each one is minding their own business when one of the men, holding a drill, notices an oncoming threat (hidden from the viewer). He races into a side room, which is when the other men take notice and start pointing at the door. Finally, we see the approaching danger – a pit bull. The frenzied men end up on the counter-top in an attempt to escape. Scroll down below to see the whole video unfold – you may be surprised how it ends.
These construction workers were minding their business when they noticed something running towards them
So they fled for their lives
The intruder was a pit bull
Who had escaped from a neighbor’s house
The men were terrified and jumped on a countertop
Watch the whole video to see how it unfolded
Some people laughed at the dramatic reaction of the grown men
Others sympathized and agreed the breed was scary
So true! Still, I am sure that they can be great dogs. They just suffer from Small Dog Syndrome.

the dog is wagging it's tail and not very big - I would be saying hello to it immediately- cautiously until it started licking me
The poor thing is so confused and wonders why no one wants to play with him. I would shower him in kisses and hugs. He was probably home alone all day and finally saw someone he can play with.

Pathetic! Just pathetic. Grown men, too. Look at that doggo, if those men had known a thing they would have realised that it just wanted to play. Beautiful lil creature. There is zero reason to be afraid of it.
I would be cautious if any large, unknown dog approached me. The consequences of a dog attack can be serious--even deadly. After observing this dog for a minute or two, though, it is clear he's just being friendly. His being a pit bull has nor relevance. Most of them are friendly. Some other big dogs may not be.
Yep. And they might look friendly too until they come closer. Have an acquaintance who deals with constant pain in her arm after an dog bite. That is unfortunately not an unknown side effect, though rare. Only idiots and bleeding hearts think everything is a sweet fluffy pink cloud that they should cuddle.

I wasn't scared of them and I didn't dislike them, but I didn't love them either. After meeting all the pit bulls there, they are now some of my favorite dogs. I remember this one dog, Alice, who came in with her two 5 week old puppies from an abusive home. She would attack anyone who came near with kisses. She was so psyched to be the center of attention and she was one of the friendliest dogs I have ever seen. And her babies were the cutest, sweetest dogs you could ever meet! Soon after, their father came in and he too was overwhelmingly friendly and sweet. (Sorry, I can't seem to think of any other word to describe pit bulls with than sweet). There are far too many amazing pit bulls (and other dogs) in shelters that don't get adopted because of this stereotype. Adopt (pit bulls), don't shop!
Unfortunately pit bulls are not for everyone. You have to be ready to deal with aggression that can crop up - human and animal. Can be delayed up until after they're 3. The average dog owner can't even teach their dog to come when called, even less know how to deal with aggression in a safe manner.

I'm sick and tired of people seeing a pit bull and assuming the worst. Pathetic. Pit Bulls are good dogs if you train them properly and don't neglect them, clearly the little dog just wanted to say hi. This whole "his tail was wagging" thing is misleading... there are different types of tail wags - though this is obviously a friendly one, there are nervous tail wags that indicate maybe you should back up. If you're not familiar with dogs and can't tell/don't know the difference, I could see why people would be scared. I personally think pitbulls can be the best dogs ever, they're just powerful. When that power is harnessed negatively, that's when you see them in the news.
Yeah, though I think that I have read somewhere that if they wag their tails slightly more to the left, they are worried, and slightly more to the right, they are happy. Don't rely on that info, though! I remember once when my grandmother came to the vet with my family and our dog. She remarked about him not knowing what was going on because he was wagging his tail -so was happy. We told her that he was REALLY freaking out and the tail wag showed that. His ears were back, panting a lot, low tail wag, stayed close to us. You have to look at so many other things than just the tail. The ears, the mouth, the eyes, the body posture. But this dog was giving ALL friendly signs.

Load More Replies...I adore pit bulls but I can understand these guys' reactions. It's not pathetic to be cautious, and a wag can actually precede aggression (just a different kind of wag.) On the one hand, the sweetest, gentlest dog I've ever known is a pit. On the other, two pits once attacked my dog while we were walking. It absolutely depends on the owner and I firmly believe that a pit's nature is to be general, but you can't expect everyone to be confident in their assessment of an unfamiliar dog's behavior in just 4-5 seconds.
P.S. I usually leave out that the dogs who attacked mine were pits. I could tell in this case it was definitely an owner who had good intentions but couldn't handle her dogs (two large dogs, both leashes in one hand, wearing flip flops, walking down a sloped gravel road, and had no idea what puppy aggression is.) Our puppy was physically fine but left with a lifetime of fear aggression toward other dogs that professional help and constant training efforts could never fix. It's not the dog's fault, but that doesn't mean I'll trust a strange dog running toward me.

But no, it's not JUST pit bulls. My own mother was attacked by a dog just a few months ago! All she did was walk past it and the owner wasn't even holding the leash so it bit her in the leg! And you know what? It's the same thing for me with cats! I'm more cautious around cats I don't know because they can also bite or scratch you. To many people, an animal running at them is terrifying
so sorry for your mother's injuries- this must have been a dog trained and encouraged to attack or just not trained at all

They are right to be scared... People who say ' Aw this killing machine is friendly and I'm mad for some reason!' need to look at real life once in a while.
I'm sorry, but I completely understand their reaction. It doesn't matter whether it's a pitball, Chihuahua or labrador, if a dog is running towards you it's understandable to be a little frightened. And whenever I've seen a video of a dog attacking somebody they're always wagging their tail. Wagging their tail doesn't automatically mean friendly
I have never had a dog, and honestly I would be on the counter too. With any kind of dog before you’ve met it I’d be cautious because you don’t know how they’re going to act. Honestly, I stayed in my mothers friends’ bathroom for half an hour while everyone else played on the slip n’ slide because I was scared of her small dog.
One of my party guests stood trembling on a couch, terrified of a vey small dog. We understood that it was a real phobia. The owner put the dog in her car (it was a temperate night), then left shortly afterwards. A phobia is very different from some people's nervousness around dogs.

LOL...that Pittie's just a pup! Probably barely a year old. They are seriously one of the sweetest dogs alive. Dogs are born friendly - it's nasty people that create dangerous dogs.
A lot of the reasons I think humans get attacked by animals is because they unknowingly have done something to provoke it- I'm not saying this is true for each and every case, but if you are scared most animals can sense it, and running usually provokes many animals into a chase mode- though often with dogs chase is a form of play- but we can all protect ourselves and the animals too by becoming more knowledgeable. Do some reading on dog body language, whether you own a dog or not. It's handy knowledge. I could tell though that this one was friendly, could be trained better not to jump on people. But not aggressive.
I'd probably would have put myself in the other room. I was bit by a chow when I was a kid so I'm still cautious.
It's clearly not acting aggressively. These people just don't understand dogs at all, which is such a shame as they're wonderful. Just as people are saying it shouldn't matter that it's a pitbull, nor should it matter that they are 'grown men', like they should therefore be brave. Would this reaction be ok from women therefore? Men can be scared too, and that's ok. This is a dog and some people with no knowledge of dogs, simple as.

That tail was wagging and the little butt wiggling. Such a happy, friendly dog!
These 'men' obviously have no sensibility towards dogs. It was blatnatly-obvious to anyone not pre-terrified of dogs that this a friendly animal looking for affection.
These men need to man up, the dog is clearly friendly, it's wagging its tail !!
Now, dogs can also wag their tails when they are excited, nervous or upset, so a gently wagging tail doesn't always mean 'I loveyou!' But this dog is so obviously just an excited and happy pupper. I feel a bit sorry for it - it wants love and is just greeted with fear, at first. At least, it clearly thinks this is a great game.
And the dog is like, "Oh wow, a whole bunch of new playmates!! Yayyy!! Pet me! Pet me!".
Poor puppy him was friendly the whole one time wagging his tail and trying to make friends those guys were pitiful
That was a friendly pitfall. Most of them are like that and very forgiving even when they've been abused. I watch the program Pitbulls and Parolees on Animal Planet, and those dogs are so neat....If you train them properly and treat them humanely, they won't be a problem to anyone. Just make sure to keep any dogs away from the front door if police officers are coming. Especially in the U.S.A.
How ridiculous and prejudice these men are 😲 I can tell them poodles are more dangerous, been bit by a poodle once for no reason but never by a pitbull 🙄 (I was playing with a ball on vacation wit my brother and this aggitated poodle came running up fast from afar, straight to my leg and bit) It is so sad that only the pitbulls and the other ‘dangerous’ dogs who bite are heard of when I have no doubt that far more little dogs bite than those super gentle dogs. But because of their enzymes their bite endure longer and harder and people trying to wrestle free create more damage than e essential bite creates, is my opinion. Some humans “break” dogs fofighting / attacking, other humans (unknowingly and with the best intentions) mistreat their dogs, and those bite yes other breeds just as much but their not heard of. But none of those dogs will come up this jolly and curious without any angst or (defencive) anger.
Bored Panda: WHY did you feel you had to print the nasty, prejudiced attitudes of the Pit haters?
Honestly, they weren't doing anything to begin with and then overreacted to a poor dog that just wanted a friend. They're honestly so pathetic
Can you show me where Rodnia is on a map? I think you mean Rondônia... Great fact checking, as always, BP!
These men are pathetic idiots. It is obvious that the dog is friendly. The wagging tail gives it away. An angry dog never wags his tail. I met a man sitting outside a supermarket with a pitbull. I went over to him and started petting the dog. I commented that it had been a while since I had seen a Pitbull and the lady sitting next to us jumped up in fright. She said that she hadn't realised the dog was a pitbull and got up to get away from him. I said "Weren't you just petting him just now and wasn't he being friendly to you?" She said "Yes". I said "pitbulls are beautiful dogs. They are loyal friendly and well known to be great with children and if brought up right like this one obviously has been they are great with strangers too. They only have a bad press because of how some cruel, horrible people made them into fighting dogs. There is no such thing as a bad dog just bad owners." She relented then, sat down and began petting the dog again.
I dont think I have ever met a Pitbull - plenty of Staffies- - I northern UK - but if I did see one - would be right over to ask if I could say hello to it
Load More Replies...I agree with most of the comments. The workers behaviours makes me so mad, the media has made people believe certain breeds are dangerous and many people including owners down understand dog body language. Clearly this dog just wanted some fussing. If I had been there I would have got no work done I would have just been playing with him. We need to ban Breed specific legislation ( in UK ) because to say a breed is dangerous is racism for dogs, this Pitbull is a perfect example of what a "dangerous" breed can be like if looked after right, loving.
Look at his tail! He just wants to say hello and have a little play :). I get pit bulls have a bad reputation and can be aggressive (I've never had a bad experience so I can't comment on that) but if you own a dog, or have been around them enough, you can usually tell their intentions by their body language pretty easily
Can not believe they are, running from a dog who is wagging it's tail! Are you all afraid the tail slap will hurt?
We can't blame the dogs, but the people training them and treating them like s**t . People suck
It is people like the second group that make the world a lot less happy because they are paranoid and are prejudiced against a species. It is is because of their kind that Montreal is being stupid and banning pit bulls.
I have known a lot f pitbulls over the years and yes I have met a couple that were downright viscous but the main ones I know right now are big ol teddy bears. My nephew has a BIG pitbull who thinks he's a lap dog, this dog is 60lbs if he's an ounce and would love nothing better than to sit on your lap and cuddle and slobber you to death. My son's friend had 2 pitties, the one when you go into their house and take off your shoes loves to greet you by stealing your shoe .. run around the living room and bring it back to you to get loving. the Other just likes to bounce around until you pay attention to him. The most viscous dog I have ever encountered was a freaking Pomeranian!
Stereotypes... I've been attacked and bit by 2 stray dogs last year, it's not like this how they looked like, running towards me. The fact that it is pit bull, does not make it terrifying, his owners must love him, treating him good, cause his tail isn't even cut. According to this we should run from all the body builder people, cause they must be aggressive ,right? Jesus!
This is a story that is almost as old as time. Almost all big dogs have been demonized by people. I can remember when it started with German Shepards, then Dobermans, then it was rottweilers now its the poor pitts! It all comes down to this: There is no such thing as a bad dog. Only bad owners! It is all in how a dog is raised and trained. I know a girl who has TWO grey wolves and they are as friendly as kittens! Why? because she raised them properly and also keeps them contained in a very large, secure enclosure. I was once bitten badly by a dog and it was a dang toy breed! Ripped my foot wide open but you don't hear people being scared of the little ones.
This is a perfect example as to why there's a stigma and even a "no-coverage" on home insurance if you own a certain breed of dog... aka Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers, and German Shepherds.. it's pathetic. But society, social platforms and the movie industry have destroyed and distorted each of these breeds reputations by portraying them as aggressive and heartless. Isn't it ironic how the people who own them and have personal contact with them, all say differently from those who don't?? These breeds are meant to protect their loved ones, fiercely; just the same as you and I would with our own child or family member.. but because they don't "appear" to be as happy or carefree as other breeds - yet also show the same intensity you would expect from yourself when imagining "loyalty", they aren't understood and are therefore shunned from society's norm for not conforming.
Disgusting reaction. Not real men. It's a DOG, not a LION. Years ago it was German Shepards, then Doberman Pinschers, then Rottweilers. Now it's the poor Staffordshire Terrier, AKA pit bull. There are so many of this breed in shelters needing adoption.
Staffordshire terriers and pit bull, or American Pit Bull Terrier, are not the same breed. Pit bull terriers are about 6-8 inches taller on average.

It's tail was wagging and he had a ball in his mouth. He just wanted to play! But the teachers had us all locked in our classrooms and they were trying to catch him by his collar. I swear I was about to scream at them for scaring the poor baby! He was so precious!
Unbelievable they are afraid of a happy dog...An angry dog would certainly not have such a chill behaviour.
That pit was not acting aggressive. I have trained dogs for years and I been in veterinary medicine over 25 years.. That dogs was wagging his tail and just wanted to see those people. Bunch of idiots..

Load More Replies...Some Nationalities are very phobic of dogs. If you don't know any better you believe all the negative press. I have been bitten too many times to count but it's usually out of fear on the dogs side and not anger or aggression. Dogs are the best but they can have bad days too.
Load More Replies...Aww, it is obvious that the dog just wanted a scratch! I remember when a stray dog ran into my school a while ago. It was a Pitbull and obviously very excited.
They are only smiling AFTER the dog has been be-friended by the only sensible one in the crew. They are probably smiles of embarrassment.
Load More Replies...I'd have said chickens but we're both probably being too hard on cats and chickens! Next time I see someone being scared of nothing perhaps I should say 'construction workers!'. Ha, ha!
Load More Replies...It looked to me like the guys were just having fun with the dog and weren't really scared. How scary is a dog wagging its tail, anyway? They just wanted to make a funny video.
No such thing as a bad dog, just bad owners! They're called Nanny Dogs because they protect children. Scumbags who make them fight have polluted their reputation!
Why would beat or run be the only options? Stand still and calm down! If you run a dog will chase and if you hit out, not only are you a moron, but the dog might attack to protect itself. It might run away but it would be a stupid risk to take.
