Having your opinions is always a sign of a mature, independent and confident person. But what if that confidence is so strong it gets in the way of self-reflection and self-criticism? Apparently, having bucketloads of confidence is a two-edged sword, especially if you lack a substantial argument to back it up.
Thanks to a Reddit community called “Confidently Incorrect,” we now know what happens when all that empty bravado turns against you. First, you land on the pages of this subreddit “For those times when people are way too smug about their wrong answers.” And second, you are likely to be sizzled and turned into roast.
So scroll down for some of the funniest examples of overconfident people proven wrong, and be sure to check out part 1 of the article after you’re done!

Correcting An "Author"
Mr. King, I feel your pain. Do you think anyone has explained it to him yet?
The ‘Confidently Incorrect’ subreddit is really a gentle (and often much-needed!) reminder to always double-check our facts even when we are totally sure about them. With the internet being a perfectly safe place to voice out whatever is on your mind, many people abuse that by spreading false assumptions, gossip, fake news and facts.
No wonder the community, which is only a year old, has been sharing a lot of content “for those times when people are way too smug about their wrong answer.” With 633k members, ‘Confidently Incorrect’ is growing day by day, and you can see how very relatable people find it.
Just Wow
How Dumb Can You Get
So to find out more about the subreddit, Bored Panda previously spoke with the founder ShadowAlchemy, who said that it was created on a whim. "Someone posted a video of Conan interviewing Jennifer Garner to another subreddit called r/WatchPeopleDieInside. I scrolled through the comments and saw someone who thought stuff like that would make a great community of its own. It was super late at night when I saw that, so I made a subreddit really quick for no reason, posted a video or two, then went to bed."

Happy 8 Month Old Birthday!
Hey guys, I'm 327 months (and 12 days) old today! Happy birthday to me!!
After ShadowAlchemy launched the sub, he never could have expected it would go viral. "I wake up with probably 1,000 or so notifications, apparently the sub had blown up overnight! Tons of people were talking about the ridiculously fast growth of the sub, I think we got around 30k members on our first day. It was super popular its first week, and its growth died down a bit after that. We've been on a steady increase ever since. We just hit 400k members, actually!" the founder recounted.

What Kind Of A Monster Writes Their Memoir In The First Person?
Having said that, the founder agreed that confidence is one of the most important traits we could have and that without it “we're nothing. Confidence is what gets us out of bed, what gets us out the door to face life. People definitely listen to those who show confidence."
"Just look at politics. Politicians are probably some of the most confident people on the planet, and a pretty large amount of people just listen to what they say. Our sub is probably 75-80% politics. It's people parroting what they've heard their favorite politicians say, and they parrot it because they believe those politicians. They believe in confidence." According to the founder of ‘Confidently Incorrect,’ no one’s going to listen to a shy person with all the facts.

Who Controls The Control Group?
But if it turns out that you are confidently incorrect, ShadowAlchemy suggests openly admitting that you're wrong (both to others and to yourself). "If someone corrects you and they're right, you've just gotta accept it right then and there. Insisting that you're correct is what makes you look like a dumbass, and what makes you remember it for years and years,” he explained.
The founder concluded that “nobody wants to be confidently incorrect, but if you are, you've gotta admit it. You've gotta admit that you're wrong."

It's quite amazing how some Americans feel threatened by what someone else makes. It ain't your business if a server would make $150K and a cashier $90K. It doesn't affect your income nor your life. So why should you be against a minimum wage? Because people who don't want to pay their employees a decent wage are telling you that the economy would collapse. Look at Europe, where everyone is obliged by law to pay a minimum wage and that economy is doing pretty well for a collapsing economy.

Bandaid
I'm allergic to bandaids with latex in them. This is what it looks like if I use them.
I'm not allergic to latex and I use latex-free bandaids and this still happens to me when I use bandaids 😭😭 because I guess my skin is a drama queen? On some more sensitive areas of skin l actually blister under the adhesive.
Load More Replies...Many are allergic to latex but I've seen way more people actually allergic to adhesives (rosins) *** I am an ACTUAL nurse
A band-aid red shape that is precisely where your band-aid used to be... No, I really don't know what that could be. /s Also, we know that all factories make strictly identical ones in the world, so if you are not allergic to one, you will necessarily never be allergic to any other, obviously. /s
Scares me that she mentions that she does not "have a choice" in getting the flu vaccine AND she is in nursing school. She should WANT every vaccine there is. She should WANT to ensure that she is doing everything she can to keep others safe and healthy. What does she think the nursing profession is?
Load More Replies...OMG, how can you not see it looks exactly like a bandaid? My husband has the same. He's allergic to the special anti-allergic, skin friendly bandaids from the doctor's, but not to normal ones. It happens.
It’s the bandaid. Up until my thirties, I would say I wasn’t allergic to anything. That’s when I moved to a different state. My new doctor gave me the best explanation of allergies. She said we’re all allergic to something. We just don’t all encounter that thing in our lifetimes. I also had never been in the hospital for surgery. At 40, I had a miscarriage, went to the hospital for a D and C, and was put under for the first time in my life. Woke up feeling weird, and overheard the nurse talk about how I looked, and saying she’s allergic to ___ (can’t remember the name of the drug). Several years later, at 49, menopause started, and just whacked my body TF out—-I’m 60, was postmenopausal at 55, and still trying to get past it. I also firmly believe that prolonged stress also epigenetically triggered a sensitivity or allergy to gluten, as I now get sick if I eat it. Triggered hypothyroidism as well. Zero prior indications of either condition in the 55 years prior to menopause, either.
PS-There are different kinds of bandaids, and this may have been the first time she had this kind in contact with her skin. Someone mentioned a latex allergy, so maybe she always had the fabric ones, so never had latex stuck on her skin before.
Load More Replies...You can develop a sudden allergy. I've donated blood for years, but only recently has my arm started to have a minor reaction to the plasters, not usually helped by me having to scrub the remains of the 'glue'' off my arm. Only their specific brand though, I can use all others fine.
A normal person would just confirm that reaction with another bandaid.
Could not be more clearly allergic to the band-aid. This imbecile has no business going near a patient
Yeah, girl. Either you have a latex allergy, or latex has an allergy to stupidity.
Latex in bandaids, and substances in certain adhesives, cause this reaction all the time. Wipe the reddened area with a gentle cleaner to remove residue if you suspect it's adhesive, and if you suspect latex, a dab of antihistamine cream that costs $2. Also, a flu shot two years ago has nothing to do with a reaction to a Covid shot *now*, so if she's in nursing school, please expel her.
That idiot is allergic to adhesives. Pleasy confirm this by using a looong stripe of duct tape on your forehead.
What a maroon! My skin does this too, never once thought it was from a shot.
It's from the bandage. I get the same skin reaction from bandages too, whether from one applied over an injection or over a wound.
Totally looks nothing whatsoever like a bandaid... Ops, sorry, forgot to deactivate the sarcasm.
That’s a latex or adhesive allergy. Mine can be so bad that skin gets ripped off with the bandage. I have to make sure I only use latex-free stuff. And even some latex-free products cause issues for me.
I was a nurse for 40 years and cannot believe how stupid the new students are.
Yeah. Why would the doctor think a red patch in the perfect shape of the bandaid was due to the bandaid
I only hope that down the road she lets the public know which hospital accepted her as a nurse so we can all avoid it.
Funny how that “vaccine allergy” rash is shaped exactly like a bandaid.
If you notice, the skin is only red around where the bandaid was. Where the shot was given, there is nothing except a red dot where the needle went in and a little blood was there.
I'm allergic to echinacea. It makes my face peel. I first discovered this when crying. Am I allergic to crying? NO!!!
I hope you are taught better than this by the time you graduate from nursing school, because this post says you haven't been taught much yet.
I don’t think that nursing school is doing it’s job…
As someone with a latex allergy, she's reacting to the latex in the bandaid. It's why it's freaking BANDAGE shaped 🤦🏻♀️
i'm allergic to some and not others... not sure of the ingredient that causes it (not latex, i'm fine with latex... I think it has to do with the adhesive). Also happens if I pull them off too fast.
You’re in nursing school?!?! That’s the most scary thing I’ve read on this post.
The flu vax is clever. It causes a reaction in the shape of a bandaid to throw people off the trail.
My daughter is alergic to some types of bandaid so stop spreading disinformation! Idiot!!
I’m not allergic to bandaids but my skin gets irritated if I keep them on for too long…smh that somebody in nursing school can be SO DUMB
Regardless of whether it's from the vaccine or not reactions are to be expected, and it's way better than dying.
You know the old saying: if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it's a vaccine injury.
OMG! I'm a nurse and I am shocked that this air-head wants to enter our profession! God save us all! Lol
Lot of focus on the FACT that this is obviously a reaction to the bandaid - but… what about the fact that it’s a no big deal regardless. If she believes it’s the vaccine she isn’t making any kind of argument against vaccination with this little tiny rash 🤣
This happens to me with any NON-latex product. I'm not allergic to latex. I'm allergic to the nitrile and latex alternatives. Most bandage companies have stopped making latex bandages, so it's hard for me to use a bandage over a cut. I have to use gauze and the self-sticking medical elastic or paper medical tape. It's difficult to find things.
That is a latex allergy, and allergies can pop up at any time during your life. I had gotten 5 flu shots with no issue before having an anaphylactic reaction to the 6th one. I had used Neosporin my entire life with no issue until my hand started swelling when I used it. At 39 years old, had a scratch test done, and it turns out I am highly allergic to Gentamicin and Neomycin.
I had a chemical burn from the glue on the bandage they used after a minor carbuncle (I think) extraction. Hurt more than getting the extraction done.
Someone give this woman a latex band-aid to stick on her body and watch her be amazed that lo and behold she has the same reaction.
Sorry to say this, but the Covid vaccine has been trigger allergies in some people. There was a phone on the radio with a microbiologist on hand who said that it is possible (if I remember correctly it was people that had previously had the virus, and recovered okay, and then had the vaccine). Obviously not a common experience, but of course it can happen.

And The Vast Majority Of Comments Too
The assumption in itself only makes two - serious - errors: First the law of large numbers says nothing about the individual case. So while statistically over time a virus will get less virulent, this does not mean that no strain could become more dangerous, just that the more dangerous variants with a certain probability will decrease in numbers over time if they tend to seriously incapacitate the majority of hosts - while there still can be people dying from it. Second, less virulent does not mean less contagious- quite the opposite. The "perfect" scenario would be an extremely contagious virus with very few symptoms. What surprises me most is the fact that this argument is often brought on by people who generally reject the idea of evolution - while this mechanism is quite what evolution is all about.

And that's the reason self-confidence is one of the most repulsive flaws. Confident people are insufferable, whereas self-conscious people are much more likable.
Not all confident people are arseholes. There is such a thing as "quietly confident", which people find reassuring and is a good trait for a leader to have. Nobody is going to follow someone who second guesses themselves all the time.
