Skirts And Heels Are Not Just For Women, This Guy Proves That Perfectly (30 Pics) Interview With Author
478Kviews
Most of us believe that clothes have "genders." Our society got the idea that some things are "fitting" for a man or woman to wear, some are not. However, there are open-minded people in this world who wear whatever they want and express themselves freely, not needing to live up to any type of stereotype. Like this inspiring man. He proves that it's finally time to get rid of gender stereotypes, especially in clothing.
Mark Bryan is an American, but he currently lives in Germany and is a robotic engineer. He lives his life like every other person, except that he challenges gender stereotypes every day. He almost always wears a skirt and heels while he goes to work, to the town, and even at home. And let's just say he looks absolutely fabulous while he does.

damn, with such good looking legs, it would be pity to hide them in trousers...
Mark told Bored Panda: "I dress like this because I can. Just to be different. I have always admired the women that wore tight skirts and heels. Not sexually, but the power they presented. I don’t dress to be sexual, but to dress like any professional woman would. To me, clothes have no gender. I prefer skirts to dresses. Dresses don’t allow me to mix the genders. I prefer a 'masculine' look above the waist and a non-gendered look below the waist. It’s all about clothes having no gender."
We asked Mark what inspires him to wear heels and skirts: "All the fashion options. With men’s pants, you have just a few color options: black, gray, navy, and brown, and no pants with prints. With skirts, you can add reds, green, brighter blues, floral prints, animal prints, etc. Same with shoes, but then you also have many more styles and heel types. Plus you can wear open-toed shoes when the weather is nice."
This makes me so happy to see! My male partner is also dabbling in wearing skirts at home. His view is nothing separates trousers from a skirt other than a seam, and he says it's so freeing and comfortable, especially in summer! I love his bravery <3
"I feel no different as to me, it’s just clothes. Naturally, on a cold or windy day, it physically feels different. When wearing heels, I feel taller, but also empowered for some reason. In all, maybe having the inner strength to have the confidence to wear non-conforming clothing has also given me the confidence and strength to handle my pressures at work," said Mark when asked how wearing heels and skirts makes him feel.
Mark has been happily married for 11 years and gets full support from his wife and family: "My wife often makes suggestions on what I should wear. My daughter wishes she could borrow my shoes at times."
The author shared what it's like to find feminine clothes that fit him: "I am 6’ tall and weigh around 165 lbs. I also have medium to small feet. I wear a size 8.5 US and 41 in Europe. I have a 29” waist so I wear a size 8 skirt in the US or a 38 in Europe. I also work out 2-3 times a week. So finding clothes my size is no problem."
And all of us women are wearing pants because they are more comfortable. Go figure.
No, woman started wearing pants because of the way men seen them in the workplace in the late 60s, early 70s. To try and desexualize themselves to be take seriously back then.
Load More Replies...dude has a bigger heel collection than me and hot dang those legs are rocking it
Definitely not king or queen since it’s corny AF.
Load More Replies...If he had bigger feet he would have to order from the drag queen online store. He looks fab!
i miss when men being masculine was expected of them, so many males grow up to be such pansies!
Are you a man or a woman? I don’t “expect” anyone to act any certain way. People don’t belong to me and it’s none of my business. If people are living happy lives it seems that’s better than people walking around acting some type of way just to satisfy a societal gender role to keep certain people from feeling a little uncomfortable.
Load More Replies...That’s just stupid, those shoes are for idiot women that want to ruin there feet! 🤦🏻♀️
You can’t even spell “their.” You’re dumber than you think.
Load More Replies..."I buy most of my heels online so that I can try them at home. This way I can have some shoe time and try going up and down the stairs. Feel how much they slip, the stability when testing stilettos. I’ll also wear them while sitting for half an hour or so. If they hurt right out of the box, then back in the box they go. So having a good comfortable shoe is important, but so is the style."
"My favorite is a 5-inch stiletto. I just love the way they make me look and the feeling they give. My least favorite thing is walking on uneven surfaces like a cobblestone walkway or a sidewalk with pavers that have gaps big enough to swallow a stiletto heel."
If he would be open to it and ear cuff would add some dimensions to the outfits.
Mark described to us his favorite style to wear: "I wear almost exclusively pencil skirts and stiletto heels. I don’t wear dresses as that is not my style, which is presenting as the man above the waist, with non-gendered clothing below the waist. I prefer my skirts at the knee plus or minus an inch or two. My average heel height for a week is around 4 inches."
Lots of football helmets. A high-heel wearing skirt-wearing man who plays football! I like it!
He also described how people react to him. Mark said that women, usually around the age of 30 to 40, give him compliments. Men make comments or ask questions, but usually will not compliment his appearance.
"Take a person with bright green hair. Green hair is not normal. You look up and see this person, your mind tells you it’s a person with green hair, you think to yourself, that’s odd or interesting, then you go back to do what you were doing and don’t give it another thought. I believe this is the same when people see me in a skirt and heels."
Mark shared some advice for men who want to wear skirts and heels, but are too afraid: "If you are asking about heels, then I would say to start with a low heel and work your way up as your confidence gets higher. You cannot be afraid. Some people are like animals, they attack the weak. Show confidence and show the world you are not afraid and nobody will bother you. The only fear you have is fear itself. Skirts? Just do it. Maybe not with high heels, but skirts are much more acceptable on a man than a man wearing heels"
"Old girlfriend in college asked me to dance with her with us both wearing heels. We did this for more than a year. I got very good at walking and moving in heels. Throughout the years, I have worn heels off and on, but not with skirts. I just started wearing heels with skirts in the last 5 years. It was suggested that I would look a lot better in a skirt and heels than pants and heels," shared Mark when asked how he decided to start wearing heels and skirts.
"I am old enough to remember that in school, the girls could not wear pants. Pants have now become a non-gendered article of clothing. So why can't skirts and heels be non-gendered? Besides, men wore heels before women did. Maybe not today’s stiletto-style heels, but men did wear heels before women."
Mark is not only a mechanical engineer, he is also the head coach of a football team. He is currently restoring his 1967 Porsche 911 and his wife keeps him busy with her "honey-do-list."
"I do this for non-sexual reasons. Men can wear this style without being labeled as gay or queer. I don’t act like a sissy, which is one of the most frequent comments I get from men. They just assume I’m gay and a sissy until they start talking to me. I am just an average, normal, straight, and happily married guy. I love beautiful women, Porsche, and I just want to incorporate a skirt and heels into my daily wardrobe."
What do you think of Mark and his wardrobe? Tell us in the comments and vote for your favorite pictures and styles!
First ones I don't really like - more because they look like the foot isn't in the shoe comfortably.
He’s put a lot of time, thought and money into his clothes and shoes!
as a woman, I QUIT wearing high heels 35+ yrs ago because they hurt my feet too damn much.
Note: this post originally had 90 images. It’s been shortened to the top 30 images based on user votes.
Most women would be jealous of this chaps wardrobe. And legs!
I am jealous of his wardrobe and those legs! He absolutely rocks a skirt and a good pair of heels..
I have biker calves, so I am good, but damn, that butt! You could bounce a quarter off of it!
Hell yeah! I'd love to wear almost everything hes got cause they're cute!!! He does carry it well too!
He looks so confident no matter what he wears :)
Not jealous at all. THERE’S ALL KINDS OF BODY TYPES! I hate wearing shirts and would never wear stilettos high heels... I like my feet!!
And rear end! 🍑
Not me. I'm a girl but dont wear dresses or skirts and hate short-shorts. I prefer cargo pants and loose shirts.
Ooh same

Yeah, and won't you be stoked when he starts demanding to use your girlfriend's women's toilets, too. Nothing suss here!

I'm not sure why he's breaking stereotypes as high heals were originally worn by butchers, who were nearly all men, to stop the blood soaking into the bottom of their trousers.
Absolutely agree, just like back in the 16\1700s, Women's theatrical parts were played by men, however, that was then, this is now. He is most definitely breaking today's societal standard of gender norms, and I'm here for it!
This comment is hidden. Click here to view.
Not really!
Men have been wearing clothing resembling skirts for much of history, too. I still have no idea how skirts became specifically feminine and pants became masculine and why everybody can't just wear what they want to wear.
Men wear trouser's because they don't want to have to shave their legs AND faces.
Thank you for the history lesson. I love them. I suspect it’s because he’s wearing it in a way that is traditionally seen in an effeminate way. I see that he’s enjoying the life and the way he chooses to live it, and that’s what we should celebrate. Someone being happy in the way they look and live.
"I'm not sure why he's breaking stereotypes" - this is the most disingenuous comment ever. Really? You REALLY aren't sure how this is breaking stereotypes in 2020? Just because you know some history? Come on. It's fabulous this guy is doing this and I applaud him doing his own thing but pretending this isn't uncommon is just silly.
But butchers don’t wear them now. He is breaking the norm of today.
I believe they also had a purpose as keeping feet more secure in stirrups
They NEVER WORE STILETTOS high heels, there’s a HUGE DIFFERENCE!
Because times changed and this is no longer the norm. You can't see that by just leaving your house? Stereotypes change.
Really?! Just asked my dad who was a butcher for many years and he said you're talking bs
So you're saying that because of this fact, which obviously everyone knows, it's completely uncontroversial for men to wear heels in 2020? Nah. Should be, though!
I thought raised shoes were first worn in China, to keep rich peoples' feet out of the mud.

what an impressive wardrobe!
I agree. And honestly, I would imagine that a skirt would be more comfortable for anyone with testicles...
... and very breezy - just ask anyone who wears a kilt regularly
I've always thought it makes more sense for guy to wear skirts than girls, to give more airflow. Nature keeps testicles outside the body to keep them cool, so trousers are kind of going against this.

Yeh, you probably imagine testicles a lot but I reckon pants evolved for good reason. Is your imagination up for a challenge? This is what imagination is good for. Don't waste it.
Does this mean I can wear a sports bra for my Moobs ?
Yes.
Please do.
LOL if it works for you- go for it!
Why is he considering a skirt and heels "non-gendered" but a shirt and tie as masculine?
Because attention, because virtue signal, because cherry picking, become nonsense.
......i thougt boredpanda has become a purely npc's ....glad to see theres still some humans on this site
Exactly !!!!
Lynn Crane lol
Lynn Crane what
Lynn Crane ?
He dresses well - I have no problem with men in skirts/dresses/heels. But who in their right mind wears 5" stilettos ? Those things are so bad for your body.
Exactly! “Woman” who were them are so crazy insane!!!
don't you mean "wear"??
Personally I don't like heels because they hurt. This guy looks really good in them though.
Car to bar shoes... when there's little walking involved. The rest of the time? BOOTS! My favourite are Fly boots.
Same.
Among Us Good response!
90 photos? Seriously? He has an impressive collection of pencil skirts, though. If he's wearing heels every day, even at home, he's begging for a world of foot and hamstring problems down the road.
He seems like he knows the risk and just wants to wear his heels. Let people live.
@Aunt Messy -You are correct! Lots of foot problems! Not a great trade off indeed... I’d rather be able to walk in my later years without having tremendous MEDICAL ISSUES and HIGH MEDICAL BILLS TO CORRECT THE FOOT PROBLEMS!
I can understand the skirts, but if I were a man, I'd be glad to ditch any and all high heels. I never wear them as a woman either.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I’m starting to suspect someone used an ex-girlfriend’s photo and name to post these awful comments. Greta Jaruševičiūtė
Thanks for bringing that up. Someone is using a photo editor's name and picture. I've contacted Bored Panda to let them know that someone stole her identity to post here.
Thank you for doing that.
I don’t know why they bother. No one even responds to them lol. Must be a very sad person.
What horrible commenta
men can keep all skirts and heels... those things are unholy...
LOL 😂🤣😂
I don't mind at all if he wants to wear skirts and heals. I am a little confused by the wording though, I hope he got a chance to see what people put on the internet before being quoted. He says at one point clothes have no gender, then says dresses don't allow him to mix the genders, seeming (though this may not be correct) to imply clothes do have a gender. Perhaps what he meant was more that he tries to challenge 'our' concept of gendered clothes. One could say that a skirt is feminine, or masculine, both or neither, and you'd all be right. It is what you decide it means, if it means anything at all, because technically all it means is your groin gets covered by a blend of plastic or cotton, etc. Human beings have been assigning and removing meaning from inanimate objects for as long as they have existed.
Those shoes look like torture. any heels i have ever worn have hurt so bad after an hour or two. No idea why anyone would want to wear them
I’m with you on that! Stilettos are horrible to you feet and your body! I use to wear heels, but they were only 3-4” high. I’m glad I only wore them for only a year or so. I KNOW BETTER NOW!
Not impressed with his use of the word "sissy." Women fought to wear pants. Pants are more comfortable, no need to keep your knees together, you can move in any way and not be exposed. We also love flats, loafers, sneakers because some sadists design heels. Interesting he sees exactly the opposite way.
He just likes to wear heels and dress. And he enjoys attention as well. I wouldn't overthink his "philosophy" if I were you. My opinion is, that his clothes looks great. His body in his clothes doesn't. Not because he is a man, but because his body looks too masculine for this kind of dress. I have the same opinion on women with muscles (bodybuilders etc.) wearing skirts and heels. In my opinion it is just not pretty.
dam hon I work out everyday and have muscles, and I wear all the dresses I want (most sleeveless mind you) and no one has any issues. Pencil skirts are my fave- I run a fashion company lol
Good for him doing and wearing what he wants. I just can't help but think - instead of men starting to wear heels, everyone should stop wearing them. Sure, they look fabulous but wearing them for 8+ hours every day just isn't good for anyone's health.
Yes stilettos high heels are a “plight from devil” to reck havoc on WOMENS FEET! LOL
Heels are bad for everyone though. Ouch!

AMEN!!!! They are so horrible for your feet and for your entire body!!!! #DoctorsWantYouToWearHighHeelsSoTheyMakeMoreMoneyOffYou
Something like Captain Picard in heels.
I have to say (I think) it all comes down to many men's unspoken desire for women's couture and attention ... ??? just watch the movie 'Kinky Boots' and it should enlighten many on that topic

pebs ?
I can't imagine this would go down well in my employment- a large part of my working day is squatting on a floor giving elderly and infirm people continence care, and 9/10 I am commando so...😂
Yep, just because you like to wear skirts doesn't mean you're not a man. You go dude! Rock on!
Is it wrong for me to "hate" how good he looks when I struggle everyday? lol! I am so envious of his shoe collection and he looks soooo fabulous!

Honestly I’m a bit worried for the physical health of anyone who wears 4-5 inch heels everyday 😥 But his fashion sense *is* on point!
Omg, if I had legs like that, I'd want to wear skirts and heels all the time too! 👌🏻
If he wears a pleated plaid skirt...is it a skirt or is it a tight kilt? Inquiring minds want to know
Good point. IF I was a man and I wanted to wear a skirt, and felt nervous, I think I would start with a kilt, until I felt more confident.
A 100 photos? Come on, BP!
It says 30 photos- not 100 ;-;
It used to say 100.

'Clothes have no gender !' 'Also, I prefer the man look above the waist' :D
To each their own. I don't wear high heels, but if he enjoys them, no problem.
I hate that people automatically think that a man wearing skirts is gay or just transitioning. Heels used to be "male" shoes. Random fact, butchers wore them.
He looks stupid. Is that better?
Not sure why anybody would voluntarily adopt low range of movement, chafing legs and achy feet just to get a pert looking ass, but ot each their own. The same rules appliy for guys, though: If you got wide calves, don't use stilettos. You need a slightly bigger heel, or you look unbalanced - as the guy does in some of the pics. And since we are not on the 1980s, the same goes for balancing out top and bottom. There is sometimes too much bulk at the top and too slim a silhouette at the bottom.
Ouch! My feet hurt just looking at these pictures.
Don't care what the circumstance....if you are comfortable and it gives you joy.... the very best fashion item is a happy smile!!!
I have never been more jealous of a mans shoe collection!
Jennifer - wouldn't be wonderful if he spent the money on helping abandoned animals, orphaned children, people starving the world.... instead of buying shoes to parade around in?
Maybe his shoes and skirts were produced in child-labour manufactory in which case you could say he spent money on helping them.
How do you know he doesn't spend money on abandoned animals or orphaned children. Can't he have expensive shoes and donate to the poor?
I have to give him credit, it works on him! :)

He has the most fabulous legs. And those shoes. I'm so jealous.

Dammit Mark, you look so GOOD man! Such beautiful legs, particularly those calfs. To.die.for! And I've always appreciated mens butts so you gotta know just how much heels enhance your derriere. I for one would love to see this look take off for more heterosexual (and other gendered) men. It's the confidence that goes along with it. The look is very dependent on the power clothing and well toned body. Kudos to you Mark, for really showing how well it can be done, you've got a great eye for this look.
Rockin ass, legs and ooooh those calves.....holy moly. Pecs, and biceps...and great taste in shoes, he'll do nicely. Woof
Nick McPherran Good response!
Nick McPherran what
I LOVE him, particularly because he is straight! This man is BRAVE. The only way to rock this is with a solid sense of style and he has it or has good advisors. I think some of the skirts veer too tight and short - bordering "hooker" - but he generally is rocking the concept.
If you think he's straight, I have a bridge to sell you. He might have a wife and not be totally straight. Wouldn't be the first person to do that !!
No one becomes a homosexual from their choice of clothes. Does the fact that he has a wife mean anything to you?

A little unorthodox, I admit. But they are, after all, just clothes.
It’s just oddly natural for this man. He wears this style well and I say more power to you my friend. As a women I find it sexy as hell too. Good for him. I love that people can finally just be who they want to be. No questions.
seriously his legs (and overall figure as well) match that of a runway model. he could easily model for shoe commercials. his style is classy and great! good for him
If shirts and ties are masculine, according to him, then why pencil skirts and stiletto heels are "non-gendered" instead of feminine?
