14 Y/O Autistic Boy Could Only Drink From His Favorite Cup That Was Discontinued, So This Company Did This

Ben Carter is a severely autistic 14-year-old boy from Devon, UK. Ever since he was two years old, he’s only ever drank from the same Tommee Tippee Sippy Cup, which had started to fall apart. Unfortunately, the company stopped manufacturing this particular product years ago, but thanks to an online campaign launched by Ben’s Father Marc, Tommee Tippee agreed to make not one, not two, but 500 of the discontinued cups for his son!

Ben posted a picture of the cup on Twitter a couple of weeks ago, and it was soon retweeted more than 19,000 times. The original manufacturer noticed the campaign and set about searching factories worldwide for the same mould used to make Ben’s favorite cup. It wasn’t an easy task but they finally found it and agreed to make a lifetime’s supply for Ben!

“It’s a shock, and a surprise, and just a bit bizarre really that they’ve managed to do this,” says Marc in the video below. “I can’t stop smiling.” And neither can we! Faith in humanity restored.

This is Ben Carter’s favorite cup. Ben is 14 and has severe autism, and he won’t drink from anything else

Unfortunately the company that makes them discontinued the line of cups years ago, so Ben’s dad Marc turned to the internet for help

Ben has been using it for so many years that it was starting to fall apart. He’d even been to hospital with dehydration because he won’t drink from another cup

Marc’s tweet was soon retweeted more than 19,000 times by people all over the world

Tommee Tippee, the company that made Ben’s cup, noticed the campaign and quickly jumped on board

They searched numerous factories for the original mould used to make the blue Sippy Cup

And when they finally found it they agreed to make not one, not two, but 500 new cups for Ben!

“It’s a shock, and a surprise, and just a bit bizarre really that they’ve managed to do this,” said Marc. “I can’t stop smiling”

And neither can the rest of us! Faith in humanity restored!

That's great news! And also it's a fabulous way to promote the company, so it's a win-win situation :)

Not to mention it's a good way to raise awareness of autism so go them.

What a beautiful thing to do for a family. It gives them some relief in the future to know they won't have to worry about replacing it.
