Boss Pressures Teacher To Sign Document That Decreases Their Pay, They Maliciously Comply And Get Themselves A $3,500 Raise Instead
Teacher and Reddit user Ancient_Educator_76 recently had a tough meeting. Their boss tried to force them to sign a document that aimed to deduct $345 from their pay. However, their quick thinking turned the entire situation around and in the end allowed Ancient_Educator_76 to walk away with a pay increase instead.
Proud of their achievement, the teacher made a post on the subreddit ‘Malicious Compliance’ to explain how everything went down, and it looks like other people appreciate it as well—as of this article, their account of what happened has been upvoted by over 20,000 folks. A stuck-up boss wanted to save some money by deducting their employee’s pay

After their post went viral, the teacher provided more information in the comments. “This all went down the last two days of school, and in a way that didn’t require me to sign anything else,” they said. “District Savior Lady works at the district office adjoining our campus. She said she’d pushed it through (she sent me a document to sign via email but I didn’t know it meant anything more than just NOT getting deducted) so I didn’t have to go see the federal action lady, and the lady who was my direct supervisor for ELL didn’t come to see me either (because of end-of-year sign-off BS where we have to get the maintenance guy to inspect our classroom, etc.). But she still got her stipend already so they’re not going to deduct her pay, it just double deducts from fed act plain lady’s budget twofold. Our campus just had two ‘leaders’ this year. God, I’d hate if it were paying me but deducting her. She played ignorant, sure, but this really wasn’t her deal.”
People had a lot to say about the whole ordeal

Share on FacebookI guess I need to go back to school because I'm having a heck of a time trying to follow what this lady is talking about.
I'm glad it's not just me, this was TERRIBLY written
Load More Replies...I've been teaching 25 years and I have never punched in. Where does this happen?
I just looked it up. So because OP is a *tutor* specifically, they get paid hourly on top of their salary for the hours they work as a tutor.
Load More Replies...You never should have signed anything you don’t agree with it and this kind of “fake” signature won’t protect you legally., although you may be able to claim duress later. The proper thing to do would be to tell office lady that you need to clarify DOSavior or your boss first and then leave.
I hope the school finds somebody else to teach those kids English because English is my first language and I have no idea what this person is trying to say.
Ok, if I'm thinking about this right, and I don't know because this is written very poorly, this person is helping kids during a planning period. You cannot get double paid just because you choose to use your planning period to be with students. That is standard. It is called double dipping and it can be really troublesome if you are a public employee, like a teacher, especially. If you want extra pay you work extra hours or you arrange a stipend for extra duties that you take on.
Well you're not thinking about it right because the lady flat out said she could 🤣🤣🤣
Load More Replies...These scenarios arent real...they are prepped to gauge public opinion. Cluck bait.
While it is awful what their supervisor tried to do, OP tends to repost the same rambling, badly written stories accross multiple forums. That makes me sus.
It's nonsense written by an idiot so other idiots will tell 1st idiot what a bad@$$ they are.
Load More Replies...The whole concept of teachers having to clock in at all is such b******t. No wonder we are heading for an idiocracy...
Uh, no. If a teacher CHOOSES to work with students in their prep it isn’t outside tutoring. She has chosen to help students who need it on her preparation time, typically one hour a day to grade, get content ready, make phone calls, etc. No one asks for money to help their own students like this. Seriously
OP didn't ask for extra money, it was given automatically when the admin realized OP was the only ELL certified staff member. It's a stipend based on that.
