ToonHole Chris’ real name is Chris Allison and he has been quietly creating comics for 10 years! He told Bored Panda that inspiration for a comic is like magic: “It can come from anywhere. A conversation, a book, an overheard conversation, a misheard word, or seeing somebody trip on the sidewalk. There are no rules!” Scroll down for the rest of our interview with Chris.

“Some of my comics are digital and some are drawn with analog materials (ink, watercolor, colored pencil), but I'd say on average take about 3 hours total from thumbnail drawing to the finished comic,” Chris revealed how long each comic takes him to make from start to finish.

The artist told Bored Panda that some of his oldest memories involve drawing for other kids at school. “I've always wanted to do art. My advice for anybody looking to make comics to make people laugh is simply: do it. There is no shortcut or secret path to get good at making comics other than making comics. Do good drawings, do bad drawings, do whatever drawings you can.”

He added: “Everyone falls flat once in a while (my comics probably more frequently than others), so don't beat yourself up about it. Failure is part of growth, not evidence of your potential. Keep finishing comics, and just try to make the next one even better! I'm still trying to do this. Right before I die, I'll make the perfect comic! I hope some of you join me for the ride.”

Not the same thing. While those perpetrating or spreading the joy of santa clearly spell out santa isn't real, the preachers of religion hold out always that their God is real. I don't get people's need ot sh*t on religion.

It's because there's no evidence for any of it, but it's used to restrict people's rights anyway.

Faith in God does not equal religion. Religion stems from the belief in God and His Love. The Love of God does not stem religion. FYI: ,Saint Nicholas of Myra, also known as Nicholas of Bari, was an early Christian bishop of Greek descent from the maritime city of Myra in Asia Minor during the time of the Roman Empire. There's a bit more irony in this illustration than meets the eye

Well, I can see why he and many commenters Could believe this, but this is rude not just to Christianity but to many religions. And religion doesn’t restrict rights, because you don’t HAVE to be in a religion. I believe in everything my church says, so my rights aren’t restricted. Nothing is taken away.

Except, in the US they vote based on their beliefs and the beliefs are all about curbing rights. There's no valid reason gay marriage should've taken so long, but the religious fought it tooth and nail. There's no valid medical reason for most of the restrictions around abortion, but religion fights it (and common sense) tooth and nail. Suddenly you can claim religion and discriminate against any customer you choose, which isn't a big deal if it is maybe a restaurant, but if it is a paramedic, it can cost lives. Catholic hospitals that refuse to save a womans life it if costs the fetuses, so go to another hospital you say? Do you know how many rural religious hospitals there are, and they are the only ones available within emergency distance? Trying to curb scientific classes based on religious dogma, the list goes on and on. I don't care what people believe for themselves. I care when it affects others. Or is detrimental to their children.

If religion gives someone hope, then so be it. But the moment anyone tries to shove their religion/deity down anyone else´s throat, especially those of children who know no better, then they can go and it on a nice, fat cactus and slide all the way down.

Another stupid one who thinks yourself smart, but is just an as***le religious intolerant. And so stupid and see unintelligent that needed to use religion to make "comedy". The world is better without this stupid attitude.

Diffuse The Situation

Diffuse The Situation

toonholechris Report

According to Chris, the coronavirus pandemic has impacted the community around him in Los Angeles very much. The artist said that his day to day life has become centered around him self-quarantining.

“I consider myself quite lucky though because I am one of the very few who have been able to stay employed. My animation day job has been unaffected as most of our work from studios is able to be done from home. I've worked in TV for 11 years (SpongeBob, Looney Tunes, Uncle Grandpa) and I'm working on my first feature film. After my work is done, I draw even more to make the comics you see here. Even though there is a lot of tragedy in the world right now, I'm trying to use my time to bring as much laughter as I can to people.”

Chris moonlights as a pretzel-loving comic illustrator at night, but during the day he works for Sony Pictures Animation. Previously, he worked as an artist at Warner Bros. It’s kind of a Spiderman/Peter Parker situation, don’t you think?

Over the years, Chris has created a solid fanbase for his work online. He has more than 88.8k followers on Instagram and nearly 10k people can’t wait to see his newest comics on Twitter.

After seeing a lot of his comics reposted all over the internet, Chris decided to step out of the shadows last year and created a selection of his favorite comics so that he see what people thought of them.

He posts his work on ToonHole along with 3 of his friends (Ryan, John, and Mike) who also make cartoons that even adults can laugh at. They used to post comics on their website and social media accounts every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but decided to ax Wednesday when they got a large enough following online. The foursome have been running ToonHole together since 2010 and have created over 1k comics and some animations, too.
