As an '80s kid, I'm often nostalgic about that era. I sometimes hear myself speaking and I sound like my grandparents when they bragged about how things were better “before”.

To be honest, I do think things were better before. Ha! The eighties were an amazing time to live in and anyone who disagrees simply wasn’t around yet.

But let’s be honest, some things are just so much easier now, right? I created this comic series called “Strange things from the past” because some things are better now and some things were better then.

I had a blast making it. It was a little travel back in time and I hope you’ll travel too!

Ah yessss. sitting on my bedroom floor, reading the lyrics booklet (if they had one) or at least going over and over the album art while the new CD played.

Can you imagine? We were able to remember ALL of the numbers of ALL of the people we phoned on a regular basis. Of course, in my country anyway, this was only 5 digits for a local call (pre mobile phones and longer landline numbers as we have now)

I memorised my phone number as words. So, if you ask me my cell phone number in a language that is not Korean, I could recite it to you, but it will take a while, and my brain would go into "interpretation mode".

Yes, when I was young, I could remember birthdays, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, car license plates, anniversaries. I still remember a Social Security number, but I don't know who it belongs to. I remember some phone numbers from the '60s.

I don’t know my mom or dads cell numbers. I still remember my bff/cousins address and phone number she hasn’t been at in over 25 years.

Too true. And I am called a Luddite b/c I don't own a cell phone. Well, I'm on time, I remember things, and I don't get told by some random GPS to turn left into a tree, soooo.... Yeah.

Unless you had ADD, and therefore no memory. To me it felt more like being a civilian in a superhero movie: my life could be ravaged at random by events I did not see coming.

Yeah. I remember my very first boyfriends phone number from over 50 years ago! My brothers Military ID # too. He was amazed. That was like 60 years ago from when I sent him chocolate chip cookies.

That feature was a life saver for me though. I NEVER remembered phone numbers, and have ALWAYS had a non-existent sense of direction.

Nah, my memory was just as s****y then as it is now. I knew three phone numbers. Ours, Grandma and Grandpa's, and the babysitters. I still remember mine and my grandparents' number, don't remember the baby sitter's number anymore. I've also always been horrible at directions if even a single street name is involved.

I can still remember people's home phone numbers from high school in the '90's. People I haven't talked to in 20 years.

The best thing in the early 80s was a walkman and you really could walk and run while listening to it. The discman came much later, in the middle of the 80s.

I blame YouTube for the horrendous way eyebrows have devolved into hideously unnatural geometric smears on otherwise beautiful faces.
